My wife and I were delighted by the beautiful work done by ATOZ Renovations. We're not in the habit…read moreof writing rave reviews. (We're New Yorkers after all.) But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way. Importantly, the team worked efficiently to stay on schedule and were fair when an unexpected issues arose, providing clear solutions. The final result is exceptional, and the quality of work exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to recommend ATOZ to anyone.

I came across Intelligent…read moreKitchen (IK) as my family was in need of design and project management help for our apartment renovation. We had met with a number of design build firms but were not finding what we were looking for in personalized attention. When I first met IK, the project was a certain size - one kitchen and one bathroom, possibly two bathrooms. After we met IK, heard their ideas and shared some of our dream items for our family home, we decided to re-design our ENTIRE apartment using IK as our design team for architectural services and selections across 2300 interior square feet. This included redesigning our apartment layout, tripling the size of our kitchen and gutting 3 full bathrooms and enhancing one other bathroom. We could not have done it without Lauren, Olga, Adriana and the entire IK team of designers and project managers. IK is on top of it all. We had weekly design and logistics meetings that included our budget tracking and our selection tracking. They were able to show us what our apartment was going to look like through amazing renderings that were so life-like, it was the first time I was able to truly see what I was putting together. They worked with us on finishing selections, coordination with the contracting team over 6 months with multiple weekly visits, the architect and expeditors, the ancillary services and resources for glass, marble, cabinetry and more. IK was able to deliver us the home of our dreams in NYC. Although it was a complicated and nearly year long project, we felt ready to take it all on because of IK and their team and their contacts. They were there for us every step of the way, kept us on budget and were able to meet with varying providers when we weren't, acting like our own right hand. I would recommend IK to anyone looking to do a bathroom or a kitchen or a complete and total renovation just like ours. Matter of fact, I have already referred several friends and neighbors to them. IK makes you feel like you are the only client they are working with and acted with transparency and charm each and every time. Thank you IK!

I hired them back…read morein March, with a promise to start and complete the entire bathroom by the end of April 2022. They did not "finish" their work until the end of June 2022- a full TWO MONTHS later. Additionally they made a HUGE MISTAKE on the installation of my toilet and never offered to fix it. Let me explain from the very beginning.... At first, Singh and his brother were very nice. Everything was "no problem, no problem." They communicated clearly, sent texts back and forth to discuss material choices, and started their work in early April like they said. As time went on, they started to show up less and less. Singh started to ignore my messages and phone calls, and was very hard to get in touch with. The NUMBER ONE job of a contractor is to take measurements and make sure everything is done to a high standard. As a customer, you hire them to do the work you don't understand or can't do yourself. So, imagine my surprise when I got my first look at my new bathroom and the toilet was THE WRONG SIZE. They NEVER MEASURED the rough-in before installing the toilet. My bathroom has a 14 inch rough-in. But instead, they ordered a 12 inch rough-in toilet, brought it to my apartment, and STILL INSTALLED IT. The toilet has a huge gap behind the tank and the wall. After seeing it, I explained my frustration. As a contractor, you are supposed to take measurements and install the correct equipment. Not only did they not measure, they brought the wrong toilet, most likely noticed it was the wrong rough-in size, and STILL INSTALLED IT. Who does that? Then they told me they would not replace the toilet or order the correct one. I was SO ANGRY. I spent over $10,000 dollars on this bathroom, and now he put me in a position to have to buy another toilet, and hire someone ELSE to fix his mistake. They also ignored my phone calls and texts for over a week. I eventually had to have my husband call. I thought maybe they would respond quicker to a man. They called back right away. (hmmmm......) Additionally, the person who installed my shower doors made a big measurement mistake and drilled holes into my new tiles in the wrong place. They are "patched," but those kind of mistakes are unacceptable. He also ordered the wrong shower doors at first, even though I clearly send him the correct ones. So many delays after delays. They will claim there were supply issues, but never once were my materials "out of stock," "backordered," or "delayed." They just say that to buy time. So, beware. I believe they will tell you everything is perfect up front, but then they take on too many projects and spread themselves too thin. The work is not done on time, and is very careless. They also left my apartment very dirty, and didn't remove all their debris. I had to take out my old medicine cabinet myself and spent 3 days cleaning up their dust. Overall, the biggest complaint is the toilet and the time frame. If they would have replaced it and admitted they made a mistake, I would have been much happier. And if they would have completed their work on time- or within reason- I would have been happier. I do like the medicine cabinet and vanity area. That part was done well. Just beware. That's all.

My husband and I highly recommend the German Kitchen Center in Queens for your kitchen renovation…read more The staff is very knowledgeable, talented and responsive, engendering confidence in their abilities. Our main contacts were Wafaa and Valentina, but we also talked with Elizabeth, Aura and Roei at times. All work seamlessly together to ensure you have the kitchen design you want. They are all very personable, have a 'can do' attitude and are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied. They were patient with our never-ending concerns and questions and we felt completely at ease dealing with them...so much so, we enjoyed our visits to the showroom. The only reason this is not a "5" rating is we found ourselves very involved in all aspects making sure the many details were coordinated and went as smoothly as possible. Despite that, as with most renovations, there is always the unexpected that can't be controlled (e.g. stove gas pipe in the way, heat riser pipe hidden behind the old pantry, sink that barely fit, but finally did, etc.). The staff went above and beyond and were very quick to do everything they could to help resolve these situations. This did result in some delays coordinating with the various contractors, but we all worked together as a team and it all came out amazing! We love our new kitchen and having finished just before the COVID shutdown in NY, we've gotten to know it intimately quickly!

The service at German Kitchen Center is amazing. The quality is great. We came in several times to…read morediscuss with Wafaa (one of the designers there) what we were looking for and to see some of the colors and pieces in person. Wafaa is super responsive on email and the design she created was exactly what we had in mind. The only reason this review lost a star was the execution through their organization with contractors. German Kitchen Center gets their material from germany but the contractor that delivers the pieces, the contractor that installs the kitchen, the contractor that installs the countertop (assuming you buy the countertop from german kitchen center's vendor) are all not from the German Kitchen Center company. As a result, there were multiple delays due to the coordination of these contractors. In addition, you have to handle your own contractor who is the one installing the sinks and appliances and anything else you want in your kitchen (German kitchen center only supplies the cabinetry and cabinetry installation, your contractor has to do everything else) While German Kitchen Center has a liaison to coordinate with that, my experience is that either the contractors are not holding up their end of the schedule or there was a mix up in the scheduled time. A final point is that you have to absolutely make sure that your appliances won't block any potential areas you want to place outlets and likewise, the design provided from German Kitchen Center takes into account the size of the backsplash and tiny details such as how your faucet operates (minute details that are easy to miss) as the handle of your faucet may run against the backsplash if you don't account for the thickness of the backsplash. Overall, I was very satisfied with the end product, and customer service of German Kitchen Center at this location, but was not satisfied with the execution and had to micromanage a lot of the coordination and communication as there were multiple delays to getting our kitchen finished. I'm glad that the contractors always checked in with German Kitchen Center though and one of the contractors (I think his name was consalo) had a good idea to fix the weird gap in the island design to make it flush. The owner, Roei, even directly stepped in when there was an immediate issue at hand and Wafaa (our kitchen designer) was extremely responsive the entire time (even at times when she was celebrating personal events!)
