Showed up 8:30 pm night before.I'm a grown man your age so don't come at me like some kid.i was one of the first in line, look at the cameras. The worst customer service! I slept out all night first in line for a drop and i didn't even get to go in ! It was a shit show.all the scum of the world shows up when they open and cut all the campers and they had no security.first in line called the night before and wasn't told to get a wrist band and could check security cameras and had no security for the line.the owner shut down the shop 8 times and opens it back up 8 times.sent out a message on insta saying the drop is canceled and it was never canceled it was just very unprofessional.if u say one thing, stick to your word.You know as the owner it was a shit show and you had no security and the cops only came because it was so unorganized and shopped this shop all the time as my son skates also. I wouldn't post this is i was lying about anything.just admit that the drop was a mess u had no security when u have 6 pairs of 2 thousand dollar yellow canary dunks. Also 50 pairs of white and black which all resell. Also your employees yelling at customers. Monica ruined this boutique. I was getting some new gear with friends and I decided to bring them into the shop. This child, Monica gives us attitude, ignores us when we ALL asked for shoes (we ALL ended up getting sneakers at Sportie - yes, we are sneakerheads!), and then my friend got a shirt and hat and was charged for 2 hats when he only got 1. Like the other dude mentioned, she threw the reciept, totally disrespectful. Super unprofessional staff and tired collection of last years gear. RIP BP read more

Shopping around Melrose, you notice that the workers there aren't the friendliest in town. They don't really welcome you or ask if you need help with anything maybe because the stores still survive without all that :P Step into Brooklyn Projects--you'll be welcomed, and introduced to what's in the store, and what's coming into the store soon (Nike SB collab with Brooklyn Projects, anyone?) The worker there (I think his name was Jamal?) seemed like a really nice guy that noticed that I was sitting and waiting for my bf and pointed out where all the ladieswear was located. He also talked about a lot of the brands with my bf, so he just stood out a lot compared to the other store workers that we had encountered that day. The interior is well-decorated and clean. There's enough merchandise in there (and a variety too) to have a lot to choose from, but it's not suffocating or too empty like a lot of the boutiques. This place was extremely unsafe for patrons today. I saw a guy get pushed to the ground by an employee (btw he was walking around complaining of concussion like symptoms - why the store didn't help him is alarming), I saw people camping out for shoes told they would receive their just due only to have been lied to by the employees and owner himself. We as consumers need to step up here and show our dissatisfaction. This is unacceptable. Please DO NOT shop here, go elsewhere for your sneakers. Great vibes, and great product. One of the coolest boutique shops to shop around Melrose. I was introduced to Melrose Ave 4 years ago, and ever since, this was the area to go shopping and get my "swagger" on. Brooklyn Projects recently opened their new location down the street from where they were before. This small little shop carries a wide variety of underground brands, and some may label "street wear". Many of the die hard skaters sport out brands like Loud and Obnoxious, 10 Deep, Hundreds, Civil, and many more. The brands in the store have been a continuous trend to people all around, and have been a booming success throughout the years. Brooklyn Projects is probably the most popular shop that carries more then just one particular brand and has always had great customer service. The fact that these workers have engaged in conversation with their customers, says a lot about management. read more

What an unfortunate experience I had at a recent shoe release. I had responsibly shown up to camp out overnight for a first come first serve release along with 50 or so other sneaker culture fans. By showing up at around 8:45 I had just missed the issue of a few wrist bands which would resume being issued in the morning based on FCFS. None of this mattered and people who bum rushed the store were rewarded with sneakers for their savagery. I was pushed over my chair by an employee pushing people back to make room for the people who showed up right as the store opened its doors. I received a concussion, sprained wrist, and several other cuts and bruises. The store refused to help me in any way and I had to get myself checked out a a walk in clinic as I was fading fast since I had been out there all night long. Simple to say I walked away empty handed. I could have been seriously hurt and I could have sued this store heavily. Luckily and unlike this place I have a sense of pride. Don't shop here, you could get seriously hurt like I did. read more

I went into this store thinking it would be another typical skate shop with cocky skate shop employees. In my experience, it's kinda par for course when it comes to this industry, especially when it's the "real deal" which I kept hearing that BROOKLYN PROJECTS is. I was pleasantly surprised by the helpful, friendly staff, not to mention the dope clothes, shoes and the great prices points! It's a really chill, laid back atmosphere with an accommodating staff and gorgeous decor. Classy joint, if I do say so myself. :) Love the style, love the vibe, love the peeps. Didn't mean to, but while waiting to checkout, I overheard a conversation about product questions between a worker and a customer. They were originally located further down the street of Melrose... Now they moved more to the center of Melrose making it more convenient. They carry some pretty decent street / skate brands such as 10 Hundreds, Brixton, Nike SB, Obey, etc. The staff were friendly, the shop was small but well organized. I would definitely come back here whenever i'm around Melrose and also the scent of the candle they use here smells very good, so bonus points to them. read more

if you like Nike SB's, this spot carries most general releases and sometimes does some pretty nice quickstrike limited edition SB's as well. they also carry some skate apparel and decks, but i usually go for the shoes. read more

This a dope shop for them boards and maybe some Skate shoes. Their tee's are pretty clean as well props to the buyer there. The customer service is ok there. There has been a couple of times where I can walk straight up to the cashier and see whats behind the counter and the person there doesnt say anything, but other times there pretty chill. read more

Our fave skate shop in LA! We're from Long Beach yet we love coming down to BP to check out their latest inventory which you'd have a lot to choose from and seems like a well curated collection of top choice picks. Our 8 year old son skates and was with us the last time we went. He felt so inspired after meeting Monica (the most raddest and sweetest chick you'd ever meet, she helped us with whatever we needed, she's so knowledgeable and provides the best customer service) and some of the friendly Skater staff. Their vibes were all very welcoming they really made our little guy feel special and Monica even let us watch some of their skaters shred on their mini ramp in the back! Our son was so stoked! Though they didn't let our son skate on it just the fact that they let us check it out and meet the skaters was awesome and I have true respect for their ability to keep it professional and to not let just anyone skate it especially little kids to avoid anyone possibly getting hurt. That's smart business that we definitely support and we can't wait to go back to re-up on some T-shirts! BP is one steezy joint! Absolutely love it!! read more

Dropped into the Brooklyn Projects on Melrose a few days ago. The store was nice and had a bunch of great gear but what really made my visit great was the excellent customer service. Sick sick sick spot. Been around since the late 90's I think. Brooklyn Projects still holds it down for the skaters in the area. Been shopping here for years, the customer service never changes and everything is always fresh. Everyone is chill af and its always cool to go to the shop and check out all the new stuff they get in. Its a lot different since when it first opened but is definitely a classic skate shop. Never too pricey just right for everyone to shop at without breaking the bank. There's convenient parking all around the shop, on the street is like 2 hour parking and some residential parking just be careful with the signs, read them carefully before parking. You usually want to park south of Melrose to find the best parking. If you're walking then you already know whats up guys. Just copped a fresh black tee with a cool design, I really liked the new line they just came out with, worth being my first review since I downloaded Yelp for the first time. Will probably be writing a lot more but thought I'd start with these guys. read more

Hot Rod didn't have the shoe I wanted in my size, so I went to Brooklyn Projects and was pleasantly surprised by all the cool product and yes, they had my size of the hard to find shoe I'd been looking for the last couple weeks. Dudes were friendly, all good. But I have to say, what bothered me was 1. The shoes were ten bucks more than Hot Rod or any other store, and 2. They charged 9.75% sales tax when LA is 8.75%. I go into Brooklyn Projects every two weeks to pick up at least $150 in tees. Last week I went in to grab my usual fill as I was taking a trip to Vegas the next day and wanted to have some fresh Crooks and Castles shit for the trip. The energy in the store was tense for some reason, It was hot as fuck outside so I passed it off as the heat was irritating everyone. I ask the guy behind the counter for a paper towel to wipe my forehead off and he looked at me like I was speaking French. So I made a gesture like I was wiping my forehead off and he finally got it. He gave me a paper towel... I started looking around, found some cool prints and asked for a size, the same guy looked at me weird again, maybe he thought I was speaking Mandarin this time, wtf!!! So fuck it, I rumaged thru the tees to find my shit. Anyway, a few minutes passed and the same guy (kinda looks like an Axel Rose minus the botox, bandana wearing, homorocker who's still got one foot in the closet type of dude) stands up and makes an announcement that the day is not gonna start like this and he's not there to fold t shirts so if you want a size ask for it. I felt compelled to make an announcement of my own and tell the crowd that his fucking job is to fold tees and watch the store, unless he's paying the fucking bills, fold some tees bitch!!! ( I know Dom pays the bills so...) Anyway, he kicked me out and told me not to come back ever, I go back all the time but I never see him, he's probablly playing nut goobler with the esays fresh out the pen in back of the Echo Park store. Anyway, the Asian kid with the mohawk is MAD COOL!!!! I won't shop there unless he's the dude inside. Minus one star for that dick, five stars for the store = four stars. read more

Been here a lot of times before this review so I know what I'm talking about. Came here for the 4th edition of the Brooklyn Projects x Nike SB shoes. Met Dom after purchasing the shoe and shirt and asked him to sign the box. He ended up spelling my name wrong by a letter so he threw me a free collab. shirt on the house. Incredible man. The store is very clean and completely different from anything you see in the mall. Anytime I'm in the area I always make sure to stop by here. The staff is just as cool too. I don't know why people complain about the staff, but when it comes down to it, it was just a poor tempered customer. Dope store. Been coming here for a while and I highly recommend the store to anyone interested in skateboarding or streetwear. You won't be disappointed. Today I went to the Brooklyn Projects on Melrose. We had just fled The Hundreds Warehouse Sale 2010 after waiting in line from 6 am to noon. After realizing we would have to wait at least 4 more hours to get in, we left. The rudeness of the hundreds staff combined with the inner-city heat and the disrespectful crownd was not pleasant. Brooklyn Projects was welcome and pleasant suprise. The stock was full with all sizes and the staff and owner, Dominick Deluca, were extremely friendly and helpful. I definitely preferred spending my money there instead of getting a not- worth-while deal at The Hundreds. I would defintiely go back to Brooklyn Projects because of the staff, service,and stock. read more

Everything about Brooklyn Projects was amazing. I had never skated before, and I had no idea what I was doing but Dom was so helpful. He helped me pick out the perfect board, wheels etc. and everyone in the store tried to teach me tricks. It was amazing. There was such a great sense of community there - I would recommend this store for anyone who wants to buy a board - professionals or total newbies - or shop or just hang out. Everyone was so chill. After having to play Rock Paper Scissors at Supreme for some dunks #truestory ... I found BP when I searched best sneaker shops in Cali. My 1st time at BP was for the Black Levi dunks. I showed up at opening waited in a reasonable line and they had my size. They do price mark ups sometimes but it's to keep resellers out the line.. I was helped by Monica, Henry, CJ, and Dom himself. It's not everyday someone of Dom's status is humble enough to go and get a new customer a box of shoes. Don't go in there thinking you can go get that everyday though. BP is real if you go in there with a messed up attitude they will kick you out! It's not about money it's about respect. I have now been a loyal fan of BP brand for 3 years. I fell in love with the store brand shirts and customer service. I drive over 50 miles to get there and it's worth it. The only reason I made a yelp is to thank them and stick up for their excellent customer service. And no they did not ask me to review them. read more

Hands down the most friendly, helpful staff!! I started going to this shop a few years back and have now become a regular. Buy some shirts or some new shoes, then skate the amazing mini ramp parked behind the shop, what more could you ask for in a shopping experience!
