Blah, blah blah I could reiterate what everyone else has said. Good and bad. But it's necessary that we preserve as many places that still cater to specialty interests and hobbies. It's more museum with the option to sell moreover than a hobby shop at this point. The two times I've been in there the individual running the shop was speaking with customers and was very knowledgeable. Yet a bit brusque. Be respectful. And understanding. However... I, on my latest visit was prepared to make a purchase. You see I was home because work was slow. I was perusing Amazon etc looking for a project to keep me occupied while I have some downtime. By the way it's January and just got really, really cold. I want to support as many brick and mortar businesses as possible. So I button up and make the trip downtown. So I get there and peruse the inventory. After a while I find something that will keep me busy for a few weeks. Here's the rub. I get to the counter and the owner( I assume) starts looking up the price. It's got a price on the side of the box but he claims it's the wrong price. I stand there patiently whilst he looks it up on his iPad. And wait. Now he's tagging on 20 bucks to the existing price on the box. The prices on most of these items are pretty high I noticed. All good. But don't try to squeeze me at the register and tell me someone put the wrong price on the box. If you'd have honored the price right or wrong I'd be sitting here working on the model. Instead I'm writing this review.

They had a fairly large variety of vehicles, although it seemed like just one of each model. Unfortunately the one that I was interested in had been purchased just before I arrived (according to the sales guy) so I ended upgrading to a higher model (no pressure, apart from some encouragement about the extra speed, etc). The guy helping me did take the time to answer all my questions, and he clearly was quite enthusiastic about the different cars. They also have a RC racing track that seems pretty popular.

Unfortunately when the order arrived it was the wrong starter kit and a metal bridge kit had been crumpled during shipment. I recontacted the company and was so pleased with the response, they resent me exactly what I had ordered and replaced the little crumpled bridge with a perfect one. Today I again placed an order, and 8 minutes later I received an email stating that the order has been shipped!! I appreciate a company that follows through, and I will continue to do business with a company that takes good care of its customers. VCS is a good company!

I'm pretty new to the hobby (baseball cards specifically), and they were approachable without making me feel like I was walking into some exclusive collector club. They have a really nice selection and, most importantly, the prices didn't feel outrageous. That's huge considering baseball card collecting can go completely off the rails and sometimes feels more like an investment market than a hobby these days.
