I stop in from time to time whenever I'm in Chinatown for asian food or family events. My daughter (8) always gets a few pokémon packs and the owner is nice enough to explain all of the types of packs with her since there are so many to choose from. My son (5) loves cars and there are all sorts of toy cars to choose from (hot wheels, japanese model kits, etc.). Needless to say, each time we are in Chinatown, my kids ask to go to "the toyshop" and they have a great time exploring during each visit. The store is not super large, but they somehow have everything you could need if you are shopping for young kids (and older kids too if they are collectors). They have an unorganized collection of singles, and a poor selection of graded slabs from 3rd parties that are not the commonly recognized PSA, CGC, or Beckett. The prices the owner listed are higher than the market, and there is some negotiation but he will pressure sales tactics for you to buy. Even then, you will be far above market comp because the owner cherry picks the top comps. Sealed products are overpriced as well, will always be easier to buy yourself online. This shop is probably ok for beginning collectors or parents who just want something on hand, but there are better value stores and nicer places to shop. I was also pressured to buy with cash. Clean TCG, Gundam model, and anime figure shop. They have the latest YuGiOh, Pokemon, Magic, One Piece, Digimon, Dragon Ball Super, as well as some other card games. The shop owner Victor is knowledgeable and friendly. He's been in the business for 15 years. All the prices are very fair, either market price or you can score a great deal! The more products you're looking to buy, the more he's eager to hook you up. If you're buying one or two products, please don't haggle. His prices are already fair and margins in this business are low. He needs to run a profitable business. Help keep great card shops like this stay in business! His elderly dad occasionally helps out at the shop too. I've visited probably 7 or so card shops in NYC and this is easily the best one to buy product. Other shops in NYC have way fewer products and prices usually aren't as good. Some other shops like in West Village charge 20%+ above market! No tables, so no tournaments here. There are two other TCG shops in Chinatown probably within 10-15 minutes of walking distance from here and they have plenty of tables and seating. I only really came here to check if they had Magic: The Gathering cards and was surprised; not only did they have a great selection with some hard-to-come-by decks, but they had an individual card binder. Throughout my entire time there, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I supported my local shop but I don't feel great about it. As with other hobbies (snowboarding in my case), I'm encouraged to support my local stores over online shopping since they give a chance to see and handle goods in person before purchasing, so I do my best to throw them some business. The younger man running the shop is polite, knowledgeable, and friendly. As soon as I walked in he let me know they were offering 10% of model kits. This is their default pricing. That still left them another 15-20% overpriced than lower priced options available. The owner knew I was comparing prices and he told me he can't compete with the "big guys", pointing to overhead and import fees, etc. I understand that but if I was worried about every last dollar, I can get the same items shipped to my door for less. Even Midtown Comics beat them on pricing the new Gundam SD sangoku soketsuden, which are also available at Barnes & Noble (also cheaper). What you pay for here is instant gratification (no shipping times), peace of mind (you can inspect the kits), and the small chance of finding something out of stock elsewhere. I was going to give them 4 stars for friendliness but I realized their pricing is to take advantage of casual buyers as Gunpla enthusiasts will know their pricing is off, and will haggle or at least understand they are paying a markup. A builder buying their first kit here on a whim that subsequently starts looking at other kits elsewhere will be in for a rude surprise. read more

This is a one of a kind family run toy store where you always leave in a better mood than when you arrived. A store like this is much bigger than the sum of the parts (model kits, Transformers, trading cards, etc). First off, Victor's hustle and kindness in a brick mortar store owner just doesn't exist anywhere else. Second, you or your kids can browse the store and there's no pressure to buy anything which is important for parents for obvious reasons. Last year, I was running late on getting some shopping done and I messaged him Christmas Eve(?) to check he'd be there and possibly be open a little late. He responded right away and came through. Let me start off with the selection, it's great, especially if you're a collector like I am, the card prices and tins are pretty fair and The owner even cut me a good deal. They have quite the backlog of packs as well so I was able to build different decks I'm working on with cards that aren't readily available in current collections. The owner Victor is a great guy. We've been talking about tabletop games, imported toys, and local eateries for years, and when I went in to see him he was busy chatting about his products with a customer from out of town. The customer, I had overheard while browsing magic products, had come to the store in their youth, and now brings his children to shop for model toys that help towards pre-engineering development. I was immediately happy to reconnect with the shop and its owners in its much larger, and well laid out splendor. The old shop was a narrow space; often with unloaded boxes of products in the isles, and with a dozen customers rubbing shoulders while talking about what they're looking for with Victor or his father. I happily bought some cards eager to play the tabletop game in my private pod of four players, or at The Uncommons of Washington Square, and as always, eager to return soon to the DashopCorp to talk with Victor, and buy more cards. read more
