Thanks to Garrett's support, instead of constantly trying to put out financial fires, I'm now on…read moretrack to be debt free this year, have an emergency fund, and more consistently align my finances towards my fiancée's and my values and goals. For context, I first found Garrett while searching online for a finance coach, and I resonated with his optimism and supportive tone on his website. I proceeded to have an initial call with him, and just like the tone on his website, Garrett was warm and friendly. He was attentive, curious, and professional, and he showed up with structured programs combined with a willingness to adjust and be flexible for my specific circumstances. He clearly had the training, experience, and skills, and I got the sense he walked the talk, invested a lot in himself, and put in the work to live authentically. I was eager to work with Garrett, but I still had my hesitations. I was on track to go deeper and deeper into debt. Did it really make sense to hire a finance coach and add on another expense in my life? At the end of the day, I had to conclude that I needed additional support. I tried reading books, getting support from friends and family, and making changes on my own, and I wasn't getting the results I needed. It's as if I had tried to heal a broken bone on my own and then realized I really needed to hire a doctor. I had to admit that I couldn't do this with my current approaches, and Garrett had been able to help many others before me. After discussing with my fiancée, Jasjeet, we hired Garrett to support us as a couple. I'm so glad we made that decision. Garrett continued to show up consistently with the aforementioned qualities, and after only 7 sessions, I experienced the following results. - Alignment with Jasjeet on our priorities and financial plan which includes being debt free this year and having an emergency fund - New tools for successfully talking about and getting aligned about finances with Jasjeet - A shift towards feeling more empowered and steady in my relationship with money Of course, Jasjeet and I also needed to put in the work to show up to the sessions and do the work in-between sessions. So much credit for our success goes to my fiancée. As our coach, Garrett helped guide us with a listening ear, honest perspective, tools, and strategies. Thanks again, Garrett, and I'm looking forward to continuing our work together!

I could not recommend him enough solely based on our intro call.

I've often had complex returns: multiple freelance gigs, income from multiple states, unpaid taxes from previous years. This has never been an issue for Shane to take care of. Easily the best part of working with Shane is the transparency he provides and the effort he makes to keep you informed of what he is doing. Tax code is tantamount to alien language to me. Shane not only takes the best approach to protect me and insure I am taking advantage of every legal tax means possible, but goes out of his way to make sure that I understand what he is doing and why. Shane is also a CFP and his financial planning skills are an added benefit to working with him. I feel much more comfortable about my future financial health having heeded his advice. He has been known to take house calls, meet in the confines of a friendly and quiet bar, or invite you into his own office--whatever is most convenient for you. She attends continuing education seminars and conferences all over the country annually. Iryna is on top of the latest tax updates; she sends out all sorts of reminders to her customers along side with personal emails to make sure all the deadlines are met, payments scheduled, nothing missed. The response time frame is unlike all the other accountants we ever dealt with: if not within an hour, then within 24 hrs for sure (which I like very much!) During Tax season she likes to stay in touch even more: by sending all kind of reminders and preparation lists, following up and making sure everything is to a T. Every month during payroll time, her office makes sure our bank account is good to go for any kinds of withdrawals to avoid insufficient funds fees and such. I enjoy reading her monthly newsletters - not too long and very informative. We highly recommend Iryna's Tax services to any individual or company!

After this, I do feel more confident in recommending this service to friends knowing how seriously they take their feedback and I'm excited to consider revisiting this service at a later date. ------------ I purchased the individual stash plan. Here are some of my notes that may help you make a decision if Stash Wealth is right for you. Summary: I think SW could be a good starting place for some people. If you aren't sure what accounts to setup, how much you can afford a month on expenses, or how to save for retirement or a home then this could be helpful. Things I liked: -Small team / personalized experience -Professional and nice staff -They have "experts" in various areas of the financial world which is nice if you like having one place to go to for your money questions. -A fiduciary - meaning they aren't suppose to sell you investments that aren't in your best interest -They seemed happy to let me email follow up questions after I went through the stash plan process - pretty quick responses -The online experience / website / portal was great. They used Zoom for the meetings. -good to have gotten another perspective on my financial plan. I now know I was checking the right boxes. Things I didn't like: - Having a small team means time is money meaning you may not get virtual time you need to get your "financial shit together". Leaving holes in your final plan or areas you wish they had looked at. -I noticed the advisor wasn't aware of some of the features in some of the products he was recommending. Wasn't aware of new savings features, along with the Ally Investment Platform (he thought they only let you buy stocks), wasn't aware of Wealthfront's minimum balance. If you're a money nerd you should keep up with this stuff so you know the latest and greatest to help your customers. -The overall Stash Plan was pretty basic in my opinion. They basically look at your income, budget, and do a little basic math to tell you where to flow your money to reach your goals. I expected more. Give me multiple approaches to killing my financial outlook i.e. show me various conservative and aggressive options to reach my goals faster (increase your 401k matching by x percent after paying off x debt, or sell vested stock on x date to do x thing which could give you x returns by x date allowing you to retire x number of years earlier). I felt a little bit like a number to them - after they get your basic money flow they try to upsell you on ongoing money management. -They ask you to upload your bank, credit card statements, employer benefits, paystub, etc... however they never gave me any insights into my spending or to my knowledge, used my statements in my stash plan. -I only met twice with the advisor - around an hour each time and it felt a lil rushed towards the end. -After my first meeting, I sent some updated debt numbers to my advisor, but he forgot to update our plan by the 2nd meeting. This fudged my final plan. This was a little off putting. -The advisor really didn't go into strategies on how to pay off debt faster, other than consider consolidating it. For example, one of my debts is a balance transfer and has 0%$ APR for 12 months. I feel like the advisor should have offered some insights on how i should prioritize that debt above other areas. There was no mentions or discussions around this. -Personally I did not like the style of the plan. At first I liked it, but later I found it difficult to find information, interpret it, etc.. the format, the way it was written and flow of it got on my nerves later. At the end they put a cliff notes slide - however in my mind, a good plan shouldn't need cliff notes. The plan should BE the cliff notes. -I have unvested stocks at the company I work for - I expected to see more forecasting around how and when to use the unvested company stocks. -I initially didn't provided accurate budgeting numbers - (on me) I would have given them brownie points if they had allowed me to redo my plan with the correct numbers instead they just told me some things to tweak over email or if they had caught this via the monthly statements - i.e. Cam based on the statement it looks like you spent $800 on food and not $200 a month like you said in our first meeting. Overall, they just take what you give them, create a money flow plan and get you on your merry way and try to get you in their Stash mgmt service. They aren't looking at your situation comprehensively - IMO. I don't trust the numbers or the plan provided so i'm no better then I was before dishing out $1300 bucks. Ultimately, I've learned that no one is going to care as much about your money and your life as you do.

Unfortunately, we surmised that as the calculations were quite basic in nature and that no audit confirmation was necessary, we could use a smaller, local firm. We contacted the firm EisnerAmper LLP in Sacramento, California. In our initial contact we spoke with the Managing Director Ms. Jolene Fraser. We made it very clear to Ms Fraser that we only required unaudited estimates and did not require her to "stand behind" the figures. She acknowledged that Eisner Amper LLP could readily fulfill our request and requested our documents and a $7,500 retainer. We had slight apprehension when she required such a large retainer, because our retired KPMG accountant had advised us that what we wanted would only take an accountant only several hours to complete. We immediately sent off consolidated sales statements and the retainer....and we never heard from Jolene Fraser again. Over a month later, we contacted EisnerAmper LLP and inquired the status of our estimates. Ms Fraser, rather than contact me, called our company attorney and advised that her firm could not comply with my request and only was willing to do a "full blown" (their words) financial audit. This audit they were speaking of would go back 10 years and entail reports not requested or needed by us. Furthermore, the cost would be well over the retainer amount. We immediately emailed Ms Fraser and terminated EisnerAmper LLP. We asked for our retainer to be returned along with our documents. A month went by with nothing causing us to have to contact Eisner Amper LLP again asking for our company documents and retainer to be returned. After two more weeks our documents arrived apparently untouched, in the same order and condition submitted. We had to contact EisnerAmper LLP a third time asking why our retainer was not included with the documents. MS. Fraser would not get on the phone and her assistant "Mikayla" advised that due to Covid 19 our check would be delayed? We waited several weeks with no refund and finally contacted EisnerAmper LLPs headquarters in New York. We spoke with the partner over the western U.S. who advised us he would look into the matter. Several weeks later we finally received a check from EisnerAmper LLP but it had a large deduction. We reached out to the partner and he advised he would look into the matter. We requested an itemized invoice as to the deductions and what was done? We also asked for any work product that was completed. To this day we have received nothing. Can you imagine an accounting firm that does not give an accounting of what they charge? In closing, EisnerAmper LLP duped us. They originally claimed they could do what we specifically requested, then once they received our retainer they backtracked and claimed they couldn't do it. We ended up with nothing but a 3 month delay in our project. Our experience with EsinerAmper LLP was a frustrating and expensive lesson.
