I would not get caught up in the acronyms and marketing hype with these guys. All talk about being rebels of wall street and really little in the proof. For all the effort and check ins the results were less than what the bigger and established financial companies were able to do. Let's face it, all of these guys have their issues but personally I would look elsewhere. Better the devils we know really applies in the case of this start up. read more

Update 2/16: I want to share that the owner of Stash Wealth reached out to me and shared her appreciation for my feedback. She also addressed some key concerns I had and expressed how feedback helps them evolve and stay competitive. After this, I do feel more confident in recommending this service to friends knowing how seriously they take their feedback and I'm excited to consider revisiting this service at a later date. ------------ I purchased the individual stash plan. Here are some of my notes that may help you make a decision if Stash Wealth is right for you. Summary: I think SW could be a good starting place for some people. If you aren't sure what accounts to setup, how much you can afford a month on expenses, or how to save for retirement or a home then this could be helpful. Things I liked: -Small team / personalized experience -Professional and nice staff -They have "experts" in various areas of the financial world which is nice if you like having one place to go to for your money questions. -A fiduciary - meaning they aren't suppose to sell you investments that aren't in your best interest -They seemed happy to let me email follow up questions after I went through the stash plan process - pretty quick responses -The online experience / website / portal was great. They used Zoom for the meetings. -good to have gotten another perspective on my financial plan. I now know I was checking the right boxes. Things I didn't like: - Having a small team means time is money meaning you may not get virtual time you need to get your "financial shit together". Leaving holes in your final plan or areas you wish they had looked at. -I noticed the advisor wasn't aware of some of the features in some of the products he was recommending. Wasn't aware of new savings features, along with the Ally Investment Platform (he thought they only let you buy stocks), wasn't aware of Wealthfront's minimum balance. If you're a money nerd you should keep up with this stuff so you know the latest and greatest to help your customers. -The overall Stash Plan was pretty basic in my opinion. They basically look at your income, budget, and do a little basic math to tell you where to flow your money to reach your goals. I expected more. Give me multiple approaches to killing my financial outlook i.e. show me various conservative and aggressive options to reach my goals faster (increase your 401k matching by x percent after paying off x debt, or sell vested stock on x date to do x thing which could give you x returns by x date allowing you to retire x number of years earlier). I felt a little bit like a number to them - after they get your basic money flow they try to upsell you on ongoing money management. -They ask you to upload your bank, credit card statements, employer benefits, paystub, etc... however they never gave me any insights into my spending or to my knowledge, used my statements in my stash plan. -I only met twice with the advisor - around an hour each time and it felt a lil rushed towards the end. -After my first meeting, I sent some updated debt numbers to my advisor, but he forgot to update our plan by the 2nd meeting. This fudged my final plan. This was a little off putting. -The advisor really didn't go into strategies on how to pay off debt faster, other than consider consolidating it. For example, one of my debts is a balance transfer and has 0%$ APR for 12 months. I feel like the advisor should have offered some insights on how i should prioritize that debt above other areas. There was no mentions or discussions around this. -Personally I did not like the style of the plan. At first I liked it, but later I found it difficult to find information, interpret it, etc.. the format, the way it was written and flow of it got on my nerves later. At the end they put a cliff notes slide - however in my mind, a good plan shouldn't need cliff notes. The plan should BE the cliff notes. -I have unvested stocks at the company I work for - I expected to see more forecasting around how and when to use the unvested company stocks. -I initially didn't provided accurate budgeting numbers - (on me) I would have given them brownie points if they had allowed me to redo my plan with the correct numbers instead they just told me some things to tweak over email or if they had caught this via the monthly statements - i.e. Cam based on the statement it looks like you spent $800 on food and not $200 a month like you said in our first meeting. Overall, they just take what you give them, create a money flow plan and get you on your merry way and try to get you in their Stash mgmt service. They aren't looking at your situation comprehensively - IMO. I don't trust the numbers or the plan provided so i'm no better then I was before dishing out $1300 bucks. Ultimately, I've learned that no one is going to care as much about your money and your life as you do. read more

I think this is a great service for someone or a couple with little to no understanding of money management. My husband and I were a bit underwhelmed by the recommendations and found that they were biased towards handing more of your $$ over to Stash Wealth for ongoing management. If you don't plan to work with Stash Wealth long term (ongoing % fee shaved off the top of your investments), you may find that the Stash Plan (1-time fixed price) is not effective or in your best interest. That said, everyone we spoke to along the way were incredibly nice, personable, and very enjoyable to work with. However, my husband and I did feel after the 3rd meeting that the Stash Plan designed for us didn't necessarily make the most sense. We also never heard from Stash Wealth again after that meeting, so we did not feel there was an opportunity to ask questions or make edits to our plan unless we signed on for the ongoing service. You're given 3 video conference meetings for the Stash Plan and that's it. read more

A couple years ago I realized how LITTLE I knew about money. I had the basics (savings, budgeting, etc.) and understood the end game (retirement). But what about all those decisions in the middle? It's hard to talk about, because everyone comes from a unique place: $ saved, debt accrued, etc. For example, my biz school friends went straight into jobs that made money from the get. I dropped out, waited tables, and worked for free. I was ready to make the biggest decisions of my life, but had no help to answer questions like: - If I want to buy a house in 3 years, how much money do I need? - Am I buying a house for the right reasons? - If I'm ready to start a family, when do I start saving? I started working with StashWealth as a financial advisor and it's been amazing. I got: - Personalized, actionable advice. 100% customized plan - Told me exactly how to reallocate my money. Then helped me open and close the right accounts. - Crazy good response rate. Anytime I've had a question, Rob (a co-founders) answered it in a few hours. Caveats: - SW is not right for everyone. IMO, get a baseline edu of personal finance first. - SW is NOT a "budget" option. They have a fee, more than Wealthfront or Betterment. All options are good, it depends on your needs. I've been lucky to work with many successful people. I've learned: No one "figures it all out." There's always another challenge, whether it's financial, career, or personal: mortgages, child care, job loss, cancer. And StashWealth is there to help you navigate these challenges. If you want more info, I wrote a more detailed review here, where I talk about who StashWealth WOULD be good for, and who it WOULD NOT be good for: http://christopherming.com/2018/02/honest-stashwealth-review/ read more

Professional and knowledgeable! The planners have been a fantastic help to us as we grow our business and personal finances. Highly recommend! read more

As a single, hard working professional in my 30's, it was time to create a plan, put my money to work, and start investing in my future. Rob and Priya have been fantastic to work with, uncovering both my short and long term goals and creating a Stash Plan customized to me. Thanks to them my savings are at work and I have a much better understanding of my finances. Also any follow up questions I've had such as filing my taxes, which 401K funds to select, and when should I sell vested RSUs, they've always been super responsive and helpful. Thank you Stash Team, for helping me build wealth and independence...you rock! read more

I would only use them for the free consultation call, plus maybe the financial modeling/management/advisement session. Other than that, I found Stash to be a complete waste of time. After our experience of two years, we'll be going with a certified financial planner from now on. read more

Horrible company. Lets see their bs website that continuously loops you sound to automated responses. So NO HELP EVER! I've asked them to close my account now 4x? At least Of course when you DO have a chance conveniently the website has high traffic and of course no help. Screw you stash quit touching accessing my bank account. HORRIBLE COMPANY read more

I've given so many shoutouts to Stash Wealth to my friends and family, but wanted to also publicly laud my amazing, caring financial advisors at Stash Wealth, who just *get* me (partly because they Facebook stalk me to keep up on what's happening in my life, which I *fully* support). On reviewing with them where I'm at with my goals and how I'm tracking in 2018 - and with them knowing all the recent upheavals in my life, including a recent breakup - I noticed an addition to my previously outlined savings plan for a (hypothetical) 2020 wedding. Instead of just "wedding," it now read: "2020: Wedding/awesome dance party." I started laughing. They explained: "Yeah, we just figured: screw it! Even if she doesn't get married, Alida's just gonna have an epic dance party - like, nothing but '90s hip-hop. And yes, we just invited ourselves." I told them they were, without question, first on the list. Can't sing their praises enough, especially right now with all the unknowns I'm facing with a recent layoff, potential career change... They've reassured me that yes, I have some breathing room to figure out what I want to do next, and that they're with me along the way through all of this to ensure that not only am I staying on track to meet my goals, but more importantly, that my goals are not judged based on what will be the best financial investment, but instead based on what will make me happiest - they'll work around that and take care of the rest. Oof, yeah. I needed that criteria reminder. Happiness is my compass right now, not horse sense. Can't recommend Stash Wealth enough. They've made the process of planning for my financial future (and enjoying spending guilt-free in the present) so much easier, and - dare I say - fun. read more

I have tried several times to unsubscribe from STASH. Each month they continue to charge me $1 for my subscription. Attention Stash: I quit back in October. MY account has $0 in it. I have made no trades with my $0. They might be easy to join but harder to get off of than Jerry Falwelll's mailing list read more

Not sure if I ever left a review for Stash. We have been with them a little over a year and we feel they are a good fit being a younger generation of Financial Advising. It never feels like they are pressuring us with any services and always gives us options. Batman has a utility belt IronMan has Jarvis We have Stash Wealth. read more

As a newlywed, my wife and I wanted to align our finances and get started on the right path. I'm pleased to say that Stash Wealth was the perfect fit. In addition to providing us with financial advice, they acted as mediators to guide us towards making the right decision as a couple (versus individuals). I've always considered myself financially literate but was still educated by Stash's wealth (see what I did there) of knowledge and resources. With Stash having a fiduciary model, it's comforting to know that our interests are being managed ahead of their profits. I'd recommend their team to anyone, but in particular to newlyweds in their 30's. Stash will help you combine your finances, set expectations, and help you become wealthy automatically (no penny-pinching budget tactics here). read more

Scam you into thinking you need your money to be managed. If you actually care about your money, there are MUCH cheaper alternatives that keep more money for you in the bank. Priya plays to be very friendly, but is very aggressive when you get to know her. read more

At first I didn't think I needed a financial plan yet, especially since I don't feel like I have a lot of *extra* income lying around. But I just did a Stash Plan and now that I know exactly how much money I should put away each month if I want to get everything I want in life, I'm kind of excited! It was so much simpler than I thought... I may not stick to it completely but at least I know where I stand, and I also know that if I want that million dollar condo in a few years it's not going to happen by accident! ;) Seriously though Priya and Rob were so thoughtful and thorough and they got me thinking about my dreams and goals, and how to make them a reality. I feel so much clearer on everything now. read more

Just a little background on myself to give some perspective. I am 26 and live in Southern California as a Mechanical Engineer. I have no debt, do a fairly good job saving money, and am always looking to improve my financial situation. I had some money saved up, but almost no experience with investing for future goals. One of my main points of emphasis was to develop a structure (Money Tree) with which my financial situation would grow into. If this sounds like you, or even if you are just starting out, Stash Wealth is a great mentor in this journey, specifically their Stash Plan for individuals. First off, Stash Wealth is an incredible company. As good as they are at their job, they are better people. It was a pleasure working with them, and tapping into their extensive knowledge base was extremely eye opening. They were receptive to my questions and intentions with my money, and my overall direction in life. They understand the balance between the real world financial system, and the goals of millennials. This includes where you're coming from, where you are, and where you want to go. The Stash Team takes you and your ideas very seriously. I never once felt intimidated by them which allowed me to explore financial paths in ways I hadn't been able to do before. Don't be afraid to tackle your financial situation, no matter how good or bad it currently is ("currently" being the key word). It will only get better if you address it now, and it will be easier to improve, the sooner you take on this challenge. One thing (that was very refreshing) was that they stressed a plan with balance. Make a solid plan, stick with it, but also enjoy today. Topics discussed range from daily spending habits, to investing, to retirement, from the nitty gritty, to the overall picture and beyond. I would recommend the Stash Team to anyone who takes their financial future seriously. You will be surprised how much you can do today to advance your life for the next 60+ years. It is an investment well worth it. I want to end by saying a tremendous thank you to the Stash Team. Keep up the great work! read more

As a millennial, taking a deep dive into your financial health can seem like a daunting task. Rob and his team at Stash Wealth not only take the complexity out of it, they make the entire process enjoyable! The Stash Team tailor makes a plan for your financial future based off the personal goals you'd like to achieve, while not compromising your current lifestyle. I highly recommend Stash Wealth to anyone who feels that while they might be a high earner, they aren't necessarily sure how to properly save. Thank you Rob! read more

Because I'm based out of the DC area, all my meetings with Priya and her team were virtual. You'll set up a series of meetings to establish your baseline, plan next steps, and finally execute your customized plan for your life. Overall, I've loved my experience working with the team so far. Priya, Rob, and Mary have been so fun to work with--even virtually. It's like working with non-judgey friends who also are geniuses at managing money. They made me feel more comfortable and confident with each subsequent meeting. If you would categorize yourself as someone who earns a healthy salary but struggle to save and invest like you know you should, don't be afraid to take the step and sign up! You'll be glad you did. read more

I've been working with Stash for a few years now, and my only regret is not starting sooner. There is so much more I could have to my name if I started in my early 20's, but I always shied away thinking "I don't have enough to invest." The Stash team made me realize there is no perfect number, and that the sooner I start, the sooner I can get my financial shit together, and that's the most important part. Each year I work with them to discuss my annual and future goals, and together we figure out what I need to save/do to achieve those goals. I love their motto "save first, blow the rest." I used to feel bad when I spent on frivolous stuff, thinking I wasn't saving "enough", now I realize if I've done my part to save, I have the right to blow the rest and enjoy my current lifestyle (and my expensive dirty martini habit!). A few years ago my husband and I had the dream to quit our jobs and travel the world. I voiced it to them and together we built out a plan to make it happen. We just returned from a 9.5 month trip around the world, and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Why wait until retirement if you don't have to! They have a human first approach, which I really appreciate. They always take my feelings in consideration, ask the right questions, and streamline the finance process in a way that doesn't make it feel overwhelming. read more

What they were great at: - Breaking down your current financial situation - Laying down an approach that forced you to look at your own goals so they could asses how these matched up with your finances - Clearing up a lot of my questions (and I had plenty) - Telling me where to put my money, instead of just having it sit in a regular checking account earning close to nothing. What they could have done better: - As a report, the Stash Plan was a little messy. It made sense as they walked you through it, but it was confusing to follow when you reviewed it on your own. It could use an improvement in flow and design. - In my first phone call with Priya (when I was deciding whether to sign up for their service), I was told that their team was equipped to advise on my business structure. They connected me with a couple of advisors on their team, but neither were actually able to give me the guidance I needed. One of them seemed to be confused when we first got on the phone, asking who I was and what I needed, despite already having exchanged a few emails on the topic and setting up this phone call ahead of time. The other advisor gave me advice that ended up being contrary to what I was supposed to do. - She also assured me that their team was familiar with Canadian finances (RRSPs, etc.). But when they presented the Stash Plan, they provided recommendations without having knowledge on the tax implications of what they were advising me to do (with respect to Canadian retirement accounts). Following their advice on this front would have had negative tax implications. - And the big one: when I asked them about why they recommended the retirement savings plan that they did (including the amount), I was told that this amount was enough to keep me on track for retirement targets. But when I inserted these amounts into the retirement calculator they later included in one of their emails, turns out this amount only gets me to 38% of my goal. TLDR: Overall, a friendly and helpful team. I'm glad I worked with them, but the service was not as thorough as advertised. read more

I found out about Stash Wealth from Refinery 29. After a quick phone call with Priya I was ready to get my money organized and start the Stash plan. They walked us through the process of setting short, mid and long term financial goals. Their service is very personalized and I feel like I can always ask for their opinion/input about financial matters. The initial process might take some work but it's totally worth it plus you'll end up with a better idea of where your money is going and how it can work for you. read more

Priya is outstanding and her team is top notch at what they do. Stash Wealth's approach ensured that we had a clear picture of our finances and then a solid plan to assertively pursue our financial goals. I would only recommend Priya's financial planning services to people who are truly serious about reflecting on their current earnings & spending habits- and then buckling down in order to turn financial desires into actionable achievements. No BS. You'll receive a Stash Plan that clearly lays everything out. Be disciplined and stick to it, and you've got a good chance of success. Or continue to DIY and wonder why your financial health is always subpar. Her up-front fee is reasonable (they seriously crunch your numbers) and, frankly, worth it. Thanks Priya and Rob! read more

If you are looking for excellent financial planners regardless of where you live, Stash Wealth is simply the best. Priya Malani and Rob Kovalesky have helped me get my finances in order and feel like I now have a secure plan to meet my financial goals. From our first conversation, I told them that I wanted to start saving for my own house. Both Priya and Rob told me this was possible, which was such a relief to hear because I've always thought this would be impossible! I am 25 years old and I am SO GLAD I set up that initial call with these two individuals. They are always responsive and help you to understand finances, even if this is not your forte. For me, I am a creative, right-brained person, so finances have always been something that I could never quite figure out. It seemed daunting to sit down with a large company, which is why I always was unsure of how to start. But, my friend read an article about Stash from Refinery29 and told me that they were far different from your boring Wall Street financial planners. They are real people who care about their clients and seeing them do well. As I millennial, I did not want to be just another statistic and I feel so empowered to be going against the norms to save and invest. Do it early and do it now with Stash! read more

Finally! A approachable, trust worth financial advising firm! I've met a few financial advisors and never found a group I trusted or took me seriously. It's been a pleasure working with the Stash team. They are responsive, quick, detailed, positive, and extremely helpful. I started with a basic understanding of my financial options and after spending time with Priya and Rob I have a deeper understanding of my situation and steps to get me to the next level. I never felt dumb or silly for asking basic questions. They have a realistic approach that's encouraging and refreshing. My schedule is crazy and they did a great job of cutting down the busy work. Every step of the way they provided specific action items with time estimates. I feel confident in their recommendations and trust their judgement. Overall it's been an excellent experience. read more

Stash wealth brings a new perspective and twist to financial advising. Their approach is so unique and today! They are focused on your life goals and set a financial plan for you so that you can try to reach all of your goals that are the most important to you. When you get the plan from them you can either take and do it yourself, or have them assist you in the implementation of it all, or they can 100% handle it all for you. Stash Wealth is such a great new twist on todays modern financial advising. If you really don't know anything about investing or financial planning this is the perfect all in one service to get you on track. I had a pretty good baseline of investments and they showed me how to maximize my potential and where I had weaknesses in my investment portfolio and where I could make changes and how to make those changes. I never really thought about all of my lifelong goals until meeting them and putting all on paper. Now I have a solid feel on which of my lifetime goals are realistic and how to achieve them. My wife and I recently engaged Stash Wealth as our financial advisers, and we are very satisfied with the experience we have had with Priya and her team. We're on our 3rd step with Stash Wealth and with each step I feel increasing confidence that this was a good choice for us. They are really working with us, answering all of my zillion questions, revisiting a question a few dozen times if I need to... I find them approachable, friendly, smart, and above all, I feel a lot more confidence today than I did a few months ago about our family finances. We were really stressed trying to figure out how we were going to pay for day care - let alone save for college - for three children when baby #2 turned out to be twins. We also just didn't have the bandwidth to think clearly about it; managing our budget was getting really tough when we were so busy. SW has really, really helped already. read more
