I never write reviews because I don't like to damage people's businesses, and it's not my intention…read morein this case either, but after reading the other 1 star reviews I could relate to the pain of that people and finally decided to do it... A summary of my experience: * Mistakes: A year after filing with Choice Tax, we found a considerable discrepancy in my favor from the reports that they prepared, that my new accountant could fortunately amend (It took me 1+ years to get a refund). I initially thought it was due to the complexity of my case, but some mistakes were part of the standard process and could have been perfectly avoided. * Bad customer service: No customer friendly. She sounds arrogant and not very tolerant with questions from someone not well versed in US tax stuff (as I was). Now, If she makes one mistake she'll probably blame you. She also charged me an extra hour for something that I thought was just part of my standard return (I had already payed $720, so I ended up paying more than 1K). Not big deal, but I wasn't expecting that and would have preferred to know upfront. * International assets: I didn't find her knowledgeable enough on things like stocks and/or foreign assets (especially if you have a cross-border or cross-state situation). Most of the time I was on my own on figuring things out or asking questions to my company's HR department, and potentially making mistakes because of lack of guidance. If she had worked on a single case of a person perceiving salary in part in stock and relocating internationally or across states, I wouldn't have to do that or incurred in over-reporting. I thought that my case was quite complex or unique, but after working with other professionals I found out that it wasn't uncommon at all (especially in NYC which is a common relocation destination for employees of big corporations). I see a lot of 5 star reviews, so, as another reviewer said: maybe she's good for US returns but not so much for international and complicated company returns, like mine. I give the benefit of the doubt, but that doesn't take away how bad my experience was.

To be clear, she did provide me a downloadable document last month, but I did not have access to a printer. She locked me out of her system and refuses to provide copies for 3 returns she finished last month. I just want to be done with this office and would be if they sent me my 3 returns, but instead they have chosen to be spiteful. I have literally paid them $2500 and am walking away with 2 returns. I explained that I don't want to take this further and just want my returns that I paid for, but her office wrote: Your request has been reviewed.  Since all the paperwork (returns, etc.) and status have already been provided to you, and as you have been terminated as a client, your request is denied. Not having a printer does not mean you did not receive the tax returns.  Apparently you lost or deleted them in error, especially since you confirmed receipt of them and advised Abby that you were reviewing them. As your case has been closed with this office, there is no further obligation to be involved in your case. Your subsequent tax person(s) will be responsible for assisting you. Liked that she had an office near me on Steinway, and many positive reviews. Turns out, I never needed to go to her office, as she scheduled a Zoom meeting with me. I shared my documents with her via a cloud link, which she went through with me. Boy was she fast! I almost couldn't keep up with her. Clearly she knew what she was doing. She had me gather some more numbers to add to my deduction - details I hadn't even thought about, so I appreciate her thoroughness. Anyway, everything was done and filed in just a few days. I highly recommend her. One thing to note: during the busy tax season, she isn't the quickest to respond to emails. Texting directly to her phone is the way to go.

We had such a good experience with Lily the first time, we wanted to come back to her. I went in Jan. to inquire about an appointment with Lily to file our taxes, but was told she wasn't there that night and they tried to get me to file my taxes on the spot since I was there; luckily I insisted to schedule an appointment and do things properly, while being prepared thoroughly..... just to find out later on that Lily no long works there, when my boyfriend called prior to the appointment (because they seemed odd when I was there, and vague when I asked about Lily) Anyhow.... after being deceived ...I thought I'd try them anyways due to the overwhelming good reviews on yelp.. but the same lady with a stern face and glasses attended me 2-29-2016, was less than friendly; felt like a session with a stern catholic school nun .... not pleasant. Before I even sat down, I told her I wanted a quote on how much my tax refund would be filing with them...since H&R Block and another flushing CPA (Ruth Wu - Sr.Accountant of Liberty Accounting & Tax Services) provided me with their quote. All she was willing to tell me was that it's $50 to file, take it or leave it.... but they won't offer an estimation to let people shop around. Things unfortunately seem to have changed quite a bit; my experience with her as a professional was a negative one. I came to her after April 15th and explained my situation where my return was already late due to a mistake with another tax accountant and that I needed her help to file quickly so as to not incur even more late fees. She then took a total of 7 WEEKS to finally file my return, after having to follow up with her 9 times because she would hardly ever respond to emails. I incurred even MORE fees thanks to her lack of responsiveness totaling upwards of $3000, only some of which were thankfully pardoned by the IRS because of my situation. Due to this unprofessional and very frustrating situation, neither my partner nor I will be working with Maryna moving forward.
