So I was looking for apartments and arranged to see a place with Brooklyn Bridge Realty. I show up, and the realtor (Jimmy, in this case) is nowhere to be found. I call the office. I e-mail. I text. I wait. After about 30 minutes of no response, no one showing, and my awkwardly standing in front of the apartment, I leave and write them an e-mail. I receive a terrible and insincere apology that there was an "emergency" (funny how that happens to realtors so often) and that the associate had "forgotten" to contact all of his appointments for the day. I recently went to an open house and met an agent from Brooklyn Bridge Realty, won't use names, but he's an older, short grey haired, glasses wearing gentleman.... i loved the place we saw, but might I add this is an open house which encourages perspective BUYERS or NON-buyers to view the property... anyways this agent... was very rude and did not dress very professional.. excuse my rudeness but he was dressed like a janitor. Anyways he started giving us a tour asking very intrusive questions like are you looking to buy immediately, what do you do for a living, do you own any properties right now, and the kicker( he basically just wanted to know how much money he could get outta me) ... well if your not looking to buy right now, I DONT WANT YOU TO WASTE MY TIME!!!!!..... how can you say that as a real estate agent, you must cherish every lead you get, how do you know I won't be buying anytime in the future...... it wasn't just me, my wife felt very uncomfortable with his questioning... i understand friendly questions and you want to get to know more about a prospective client, but this crossed the line and he obviously seemed like he was only in it for the money, not to help a client potentially find a new home.... We hired Brooklyn Bridge Realty to sell our apartment. They were chosen in part because of their local knowledge. They put a sign advertising our place in their high-traffic front window on Court Street for a week with a completely wrong address. A "Realtor(tm)" who got the location wrong. Apologies were perfunctory and their $30K+ sales commission was collected without any qualms. They then asked us for referrals. So I am obliging. Look around a few blocks. You can probably do better. read more

The worst! The agent shows us an apartment and says that it doesn't matter what we say about it since "it's not her listing." Then, when we email her about it (since we are interested) she doesn't respond. We then email the other agent listed--still no response. When I go to the office, I'm told that they've been busy renting out all of their available two bedrooms (which is what we're interested in) and that this apt is now rented--no phone call or email to us about the availability of the other listings. I can only characterize Brooklyn Bridge Realty as dishonest, unprofessional and selfish. They have been staffed as the exclusive realtor to full development in Cobble Hill (Landmark at Cobble Hill, 215 Degraw). As an owner of one of the units, I know firsthand how unprofessional and dishonest they have been to me. But in speaking with many of the other buyers in the unit, the feedback is very similar. We have now been passed on to three different agents from Brooklyn Bridge Realty because they do not want to live up to the commitments they have promised. They are completely unresponsive to calls and emails (it has been over three months and one of the main agents still will not reply via email despite us emailing him every 2 weeks). This process will need to be taken back through attorneys to get them to deliver what they have contractually committed to. My advice to anyone dealing with Brooklyn Bridge Realty is to not work with them. If you have to, I suggest you have everything in writing with attorneys (as we do) but also have money held in escrow and only deliverable to Brooklyn Bridge Realty upon full satisfaction because they are simply dishonest. My experience with Angela Ruggiero was very negative. I inquired about two listings I saw online and she responded saying neither were available but she had two similar properties. After answering her questions about what we were looking for, and lots of back and forth about setting up a time to look at the two apartments, we show up at the first apartment to find 10 other people waiting to see it as well. She had never mentioned anything about it being a cattle call. Then we had to wait in line, couple by couple, to see the apartment. It was nothing like the two I had inquired about, or the criteria she had asked about, not that she remembered anything from our emails. I was so annoyed by that point that I left and will never have anything to do with her or BBR again. read more

Angela found my family a great rental and made our relocate process the most simple and painless. We appreciated all her help! I would never recommend them to anyone! Well maybe only to a real enemy. This was the worst realtor experience we had in our search. They were unprofessional and gave awful client service. I don't remember the agent's name but let's call her, Cathy because she was a very Chatty Cathy. She wasted our time during both walk throughs getting into conversations unrelated to the rental of the apartments, just chatting as you would with a neighbor. I think it's great to be friendly but WE were her clients, not them. There was a complete lack of respect of our time. To add insult to injury, we ended up with a parking ticket. We were from out of state and had driven our car and had no knowledge of the Brooklyn area. Cathy insisted that we drive to both apartments she wanted to show us. As we approached the second apartment, she pointed out a parking space. We didn't realize that it was an illegal space because there were two cars on either side of ours and both were unattended. (While I realize we should have read the signs better and been more vigilant, we made the mistake of trusting her because she touted the fact had lived in the neighborhood their whole life and knew the place like the back of her hand.) The second walk through took her 25 minutes: 10 minutes to get the door unlocked (complete with all of us trying the keys and several phone calls to the office), 5 minutes to show us the space, 10 minutes of another trivial conversation with the tenant who came home as we were leaving. When we returned to our car and found a $125 ticket we called Cathy immediately. She was stunned and said it wasn't her fault. She checked with her broker and told us that she wasn't responsible for the ticket and that they would pay for a portion of the ticket ONLY if we decided to rent one of the apartments they showed us and paid their finder's fee. The two places she showed us were in poor to mediocre condition and were both above our price range. While I realize that some of the agents at this agency might be good, we felt that their overall unwillingness to take any responsibility for the ticket and show any good faith to a client who was considering paying $4-5K in fees was stunning. We decided not to do business with them for this reason. It was more about principle and not money. read more

I always looked in the window and on-line and saw some great apartments that this realty company had available and when the time came to me, I went to Brooklyn Bridge Realty for help. I walked in on a Friday afternoon, and there wasn't an agent available to even talk with. I told them what we were looking for, and they took down our information. I never got a call a call about inquiring more as to what we were looking for in the area. We were looking, like most people, for a pet friendly 1-2 bedroom in the $2000 to $2500 range....not impossible! Not a phone call back, or anything to try and contact me...to even further it, the agents don't answer their text messages...don't say text if you are not going to respond! I have had several good experiences with agents over many years, but none could compare to the wonderful experience my husband and I had working with Angela Ruggiero. She was extremely professional, knowledgeable and understood what we were looking for in a rental. She made herself available at all times for us. I'm not an easy client as I can be very picky and at times demanding. Angela was so patient and understanding and took us through a difficult and challenging process that truly became a positive and fun experience.
