I've now been going to Affectionately Cats for over 20 years. We currently have two cats and both…read morewere adopted with a relatively rare virus called FIV. Some vets treat FIV like a death sentence and won't give these cats the time of day, but everyone at AC treats our little ones like beloved royalty. They take their time and answer all of our questions, and did a TON of research to share with us the best diet, supplements, and lifestyle changes to keep our cats healthy. We are not rich! Not by a long shot. We have small income, live in a small apartment, do not have money to toss away on unnecessary expenses. We've never felt that the vets at AC order gratuitous labs or x-rays or anything, and they always bring up the matter or cost very non-judgmentally in a way that would make us feel comfortable declining if we decided to do so. I've never felt pressured to do something I couldn't afford. We have never been pressured in the slightest to buy food or supplements them, they've always been completely fine with us buying from amazon or wherever I can get the best deal. Our cats are our family, truly. They have had rough lives before we adopted them and it's our honor, duty, and absolute pleasure to make sure they are happy and healthy for the rest of their lives. I would NEVER bring them to a vet where I felt that the cats or we as owners were being disrespected or where I felt they were getting sub-optimal care. Affectionately Cats has not only met but exceeded my expectations for two decades and I can't imagine ever going anywhere else.

I've had cats for almost fifty years and have taken them to many different veterinarians over the…read moreyears. Some have been good, some great, but this is the first one that has made my cat sick. They gave him Zorbium extra-label without telling me in advance why it was necessary and what the risks are and are refusing to tell me why. From the FDA website: "Zorbium is a DEA Schedule III opioid and was approved with a boxed warning, which is the strictest warning than can be issued for a drug...It is not to be dispensed for administration at home by the pet owner. " I made appointments for both my cats to check for possible urinary tract infections because there were 3 incidents of urine right outside the litterbox over the course of 6 weeks and I didn't know who was doing it. The first appointment was with my 14 y.o. male who they had previously diagnosed with renal disease. For some reason they gave him topical Zorbium even though there was no evidence of a UTI or any other condition and he wasn't showing any signs of pain. My cat was behaving normally before this visit. Immediately afterward he stopped eating, interacting and purring and then started throwing up bile. I took him back after 2 days because he was suffering terribly. They diagnosed him with pancreatitis and gave me a tube of Zorbium to administer myself at home. When he was still sick the next day I called again and was told to take him to emergency or give him the Zorbium. I googled Zorbium because I didn't want to give my cat medicine I knew nothing about and when I saw the warnings on both the FDA and manufacturer's website I opted for the emergency hospital. There are numerous horror stories about cats suffering and even dying after being given this drug. Zorbium is approved by the FDA solely for post-surgical pain management in cats and has not been tested for safe use in cats with kidney, heart, lung or liver disease. My cat did not have surgery, was not in pain and has kidney and heart disease. This was simply a routine office visit to check for a UTI! They did not discuss this with me in advance and have refused provide detailed medical documentation supporting the necessity for this treatment. I can only conclude they know they shouldn't have given him Zorbium and they lack the decency to admit it. In the next three weeks I took him to local vet emergency clinics four times, and an out-of-state university veterinary hospital twice. This all started with the Zorbium. If you want your cat to suffer unnecessarily, you can't make a better choice than Affectionately Cats.
