I wanted lip blush not only to restore color, but also to get a bit of my lip shape back. (Fun fact I learned: many of us actually have about 1mm of lip skin above our lip line, even if it blends with our skin tone!) I had seen Emi's work before while researching lip blush and was already a fan, so when I found her Yelp page, I hoped it was the same Emi--and I was so lucky that it was! She even had a Saturday spot available, and her pricing was very reasonable. Emi works out of Salon Republic in Hermosa Beach. From the moment I walked in, the space felt welcoming and comfortable. She even offered a blanket and asked for music request, which set such a nice tone. After filling out the forms, Emi took the time to really talk through my goals. I didn't have many reference photos, but she walked me through her wide selection of colors and explained the differences in shapes and lip design. Once she mapped out the outline, I looked in the mirror and was honestly beyond thrilled--it was even better than what I had imagined. After applying the numbing cream, Emi carefully explained aftercare and what to expect during healing. The actual session was nearly painless (maybe a 1 on a scale of 10), and she worked with such precision and attention to detail. About an hour and a half later, my lips were complete--and I was blown away by the results. Not only is my lip color beautifully enhanced, but my lip line is more defined and the shape turned out even better than what I had envisioned. Emi is truly an artist. I looked into eyelash extensions, but stumped upon lash lift, and found Tori in Yelp! The process is a little long, about an hour. She takes cash only. There's a convenience store a block away from her that has an ATM if you forget cash! Be sure to get directions for when you arrive. It's a bit tricky to find her place. She says the lash could stay curled for up to 12 weeks depending on what you do to them. Mine only looked good for a month max. The second month, most lashes straightened out, while a few stayed curled. By the end of the second month, all my lashes were straight again. I don't wear much makeup (only eyeliner) on a day-to-day basis. I wear mascara only on special occasions, which was 3 times during the those two months. I never wear fake eyelashes. I'm not sure why mine didn't last as long, but it was nice while it lasted. It's a little expensive for my lashes to look good for only a month. I see why people do it if they curl their eyelashes everyday. It definitely saves a lot of time. It was definitely nice to have, and I might do it again for another special occasion.

She confirmed that she could. However, after starting, she later told me she wasn't sure if she would finish and asked if I wanted to reschedule. Since I had already waited and needed my lashes done that day, I said I couldn't reschedule. During the consultation, when we were discussing curls and lengths, she told me to hurry up, which felt rude considering I had been the one waiting. I also showed her a reference photo from her own website, but the final result did not look like the picture, so I felt the photos were not an accurate representation. Overall, the experience felt rushed and unprofessional, and I was disappointed with both the service and the final result. I was a loyal client for over a year with her former lash techs who are no longer there and I'm surely not coming back after this experience.
