Unfortunately, they were not able to repair the unit because parts were not surprisingly no longer available (still the Covid effect). Instead, they replaced the entire unit with a "smart" opener. The thing is literally whisper quiet, and I love the technology. The price was very fare, and they even went above and beyond- with no extra fee- to fix the main large spring that was dangerously about to pop. Eeks! Great customer service! Although it was cute to me, it got old really quick with my kids. I figured it was time to get a professional involved. I chose The Up and Up Garage Doors company because it was relatively close to where I live (I learned pretty quickly that some companies don't serve my area, so I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be disappointed if they didn't served my area). The company had a decent number of reviewers, which I feel makes the 5 star reviews seem legit. Surprisingly, I was able to book a consultation the same day. Neil was able to diagnose the problem relatively quickly and explained the parts that I would definitely need (like a new receiver), parts that I would not need (like the spring) and parts that would be nice to have (like the rolling wheels along the rail). He was very transparent about the price of the parts and labor as well as time it would take to pick up the parts and complete the job. TBH, the garage door system he recommended seemed gimmicky, but I decided to go with it anyway because he had me at " it's one of the quietest systems." He was able to install the very same day and was very patient helping me set up the remote garage door openers and iPhone app, which turns out has a feature that floored me, which was basically the ability to check if my garage door was closed or not after I left! The amount of time I imagined I would save by not having to turn the car around to double check is priceless! The overall time it took from looking at the company, setting up an appointment, Neil having to pick up the system from the company, drive back and install was literally less than three hours. I also thought the price was very reasonable for having such a quality product and super awesome experience. I would 10 out 10 definitely recommend this company to anyone who is looking to upgrade their garage system or just need any repairs in general.

I also appreciate gator garage door sending me emails and photos of the repairs being done so I was kept in real time updates. Guy came out and fixed it just before the summer. In August, the garage door jammed and wouldn't open or close. We were under warranty so they quickly came out. A different guy came out and temporarily fixed it. He told my wife that he fixed it, but it would break again, because the initial installation was poor. This wasn't communicated to me by my wife, but I got an estimate for an "Upgrade" for the motor. I didn't want some upgrade, so I did nothing. A couple months later it breaks again. I talk to my wife and she told me that the guy said it would break if we didn't get a new motor. News to me! Talked to my father, who is an engineer. He said a new motor didn't make sense when the other one wasn't broken. I call Gator and got the admin and relayed that the motor change didn't make sense and why did I need it. She asked someone, saying it was "over her head" and that answer didn't make senses either. So I email them asking them to clarify with a few pictures...and got no response, except to confirm my email for a response that never came. It's been a week, and the company that was soooo quick to respond to all correspondence when we were buying something has now gone silent. My father came out and inspected the door and turns out we didn't need a new motor. The motor was working fine. The problem was that one of the guys that came to repair it increased the torque, which bent a rod the motor attaches to by ramming the door into the floor beneath the door. It also broke the door again. The motor was misplaced, but was easily moved a notch forward on the mount. He lowered the torque and that did it. It now works fine, but the rod is now permanently bent. Now, was the second repair dude trying to sell something that wasn't needed because my wife is a woman? I don't know. We were offered a new motor for $800 that could have been fixed by changing back the torque and shifting the motor, something that took less than a half hour. I don't recommend this place, which is a shame because they are highly rated on Yelp and recommended by a friend.
