High prices for services . Never was shown an actual X-ray don't believe my puppy received the pain shot that was supposed to be given. Puppy still was in a lot of pain when we left and had to go back and get another shot for pain, and I still wasn't sure if he was givin pain meds cause he was still in pain. Just the whole experience with them was a nightmare. I heard that almost every person I talked to claiming they also wasn't happy with their service. My experience in Hastings Michigan is I have not received good service from doctors here and now not even happy at all about services at Broadway vet, as I found out too late from others also. read more

Dr Lane is friendly enough and appears passionate about his craft, however, he is dismissive. For 2+ years he said our beagle was "just fat". In fact it turns out she had cushings disease which was spotted right away by another vet. Since then, a dear friend upon hearing this said he prescribed an antibiotic (several times) for what turned out to be cancer. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I don't even know where to begin. This man is violent, short tempered and just flat out mean. I unfortunately worked there for little over a year. The first week I started, maybe the second day, I was forced to help restrain a dog. I never had to do that before so, I was clueless. He yelled and cussed me out because I didn't actually know what I was doing. This happened a few times. You aren't actually properly trained to do anything depsite what the sign outside his clinic says. He also would frequently hold off on payroll. It was supposed to be every 2 weeks and at one point it was almost a month. This man is degrading to his employees and his patients. While working there, I brought my dog in for skin issues. I can't even remember how much money I spent on trying to fix him with no actual resolution from Dr. Lane. After I quit and went to a different vet, I called multiple times to get my dogs records there and no one bothered doing that. And that right there showed he is a petty and terrible person who doesn't actually care about his patients. I would never recommend this place. Why do you think this place has had high turnaround? My dog was not feeling great and no clinic in town was available for appointments. This office had a cancellation and got me in within 20 minutes. The veterinarian was nice, gentle with my dog during the procedure, and stayed to talk with me about the aftercare. My senior dog is very gentle, deaf and confused a little at times. Staff was patient and veterinarian was very nice to my dog. I see there are lots of bad reviews. It was not my experience. read more

Will never return to this vet again! If i could give him zero stars i would! He misdiagnosed both of our dogs within a year and 2 months apart and we had to put both of our fur babies down because he "didn't" know what was wrong with them our hayden had internal bleeding because a tumor in his stomach burst and dr lane kept saying he didn't see "anything abnormal" on his xrays and then we just had to put our rajah down on thursday because he misdiagnosed her too! Said she had a gastral viral infection but he wasnt sure and she didn't she was terribly sick! He said he was puzzled he didn't so any blood work or xrays she had fluid in her lungs and had conjestive heart failure.!! We will never bring another animal to him. Brought our new puppy here today, and the vet was wonderful with her! He was also great with our somewhat aggressive boxer when she was alive. He spends more than adequate time answering questions and giving loads of good information. Best vet we've ever been to! read more

I went to Dr Chaille who was the original vet on Broadway. He was a caring vet who wasn't just about the money. So when the new vet came I stayed to give him a chance. He was putting services on my bill that he did not ask me about first. I did not appreciate that. The last straw was when I went to pick up an animal that I think he spayed. Everything ended up costing over $300. I asked him if I could ask him a quick question about one of my other pets. His reply was that I would have to make an appointment. That did it. I would never recommed him. Then reading the above really made me not like him. read more

I called concerning my puppy. I had to call 3 times in order to talk to the receptionist. then when she answers she just says "hello". She finally transfers me to the doctor and I try to explain my dogs symptoms and he completely cut me off and said "there is a reason I am leaving early today! I don't have time for a conversation." the concern i have is life threatening to my animal. and he could have cared less to hear what was going on with my FOUR month old puppy. I completely understand life happens and things happen in the personal life. But if you care to keep the patients you have, you'll listen to what their concern is with the animal that YOU treat! read more

There is a reason why this place is the cheapest in town for animal care. There is a reason why the turn over rate at his practice is so high. Twice working for Lane Benziger I have wittnseesed him being violent with animals. He has anger issues and has even struck me once ( but to be " fair " he meant to punch the animal I was restraining due to it biting his finger while attempting to give it oral medicine ) I always found it odd that he had an elaborate back story for why all 40 + people quit whether it was them being drug addicts or stealing from him. Of course I fell for his sob stories ( just like the other staff ) until I began to witness his violent and aggressive tendencies. People, look at the reviews below! For every reply he makes to them discredits him even more. Also, only because I don't want people going through what I and many others have, DO NOT WORK FOR HIM. You are only a glorified janitor/ security guard making minimum wage. There are so many better jobs out there that will value your time put into a company! And if you want to work with animals Northwood and SAVC would be a much better for you. After I quit Lane Benziger sent me texts calling me stupid and accusing me of doing drugs because I put his office key on his computer desk and not on his office desk. He is a horrible boss, business owner, and a sketchy veterinarian. In mine and many other opinions, if he doesn't get his license taken away he shoul AT LEAST resign and work under someone who has the patience and mental capacity to run a practice so that he can take notes. read more

I never hear anything good about this vet. A lot of people say he is abusive with the animals in his care or that he treats. He also has an awful reputation as a boss. We quit going there when he started charging us for procedures that he did not ask us about first. Plz don't take an animal there. read more

But, I strive to do good for this world, by facing adversity and putting a stop to hate and war. Diana H. - I couldn't agree with her more. There are literally a "million other places to go." "Places." That is very vague, but it doesn't make her incorrect. But, she isn't literally referring to veterinary clinics, is she? There can't be a million to go to, can there? Let me look. According to Google, there are approximately 26,000 clinics in the US. So, Diana H, is exaggerating and trying to be misleading. That's insensitive, mischief, and isn't very nice. That's not a good thing to do. Plus, I hope she isn't teaching children that behavior. This world needs less histrionic behavior and more love...and more education, because spelling and grammar is important! Jon F. - The language he uses reminds me of the 3rd grade. Jon F doesn't know know first hand, but "had a friend who" and "heard about" Come on, Jon F. That's hearsay and conjecture. We want facts. The review sounds ludicrous, especially about punching dogs before they are euthanized. I'm sorry, but I actually laughed at how CRAZY that sounds! Punching dogs before they are euthanized? Very creative, but I am disappointed that someone coerced Jon F into writing that review, just to be mean. It doesn't make him look good as a person. His lies are only meant to incite rage and hate. That's not a good thing to do. Brogan T. - I assume all pet owners love their pets. Maybe I'm wrong. But, if this story is true, why would Brogan subject the pet to this veterinarian? If you hear trouble, you should get away from it. Instinctively. The subconscious mind should have intervened and gotten Brogan out of there. But, Brogan stayed? Unless this story is a fabrication. Brogan T must know Jon F, because they both use the "had a friend" and "heard about" comments. I'm starting to see a trend here. Lying is never the answer. The truth may hurt us, but learning the truth can only make us better. But, lying for malice and spite is not a good thing to do. Stevie Marie N. - Is any of this true? Has this person really had 40+ employees? Personal question: How many jobs have any of us had in our lives? 5? 6? More? Statistically, many go through 8 or more, before finding their career. But, can you imagine if this review is true? What it must be like to have to hire and rehire that many times. It must be exhausting and time consuming. And, theft and drug abuse? Is that true? Just reading that much, I have to feel bad for the clinic and its staff. How horrible! But, getting to the last few sentences, Stevie Marie N makes an unforeseen error. Here again, I cannot understand why people say such horrible, misdirecting things. "If he doesn't get his license taken away... he should ... resign and ... work under someone." This person feels so strongly and make such tremendous claims, but then believes the veterinarian still should be given the opportunity to practice at all? I'm confused; and, that isn't easy to do. Have his license taken away or resign and still work? The reviewer believes he should be forced to stop working or be able to choose to continue to work? The reviewer still leaves the door open for the crimes to continue? This review, like the others, is disheartening. See, a liar often gets caught up, tangled in the web of their lies. They say one thing and then say the opposite. They can't both be truths, so which one is the lie? Stevie Marie N's review is nothing but soap box hate speech. I'm sorry to the clinic for such troubles that may have existed. And, I'm sorry to the reviewer, who clearly has significant feelings for the clinic, which imposes a terrible burden that I hope they will one day let go of. But, as always, lying is not a good thing to do and will not solve any problems. My reflection. Look. If a person lies once, I have to assume they can be lying anytime. To me or not to me...that is not the question. A lie is a lie. Here we have four reviews. One misleads and exaggerates (lies.) Two use the same dialog to tell a made up story (lie) they've heard to then create a landscape of dislike. One is so very emotionally driven, but fails in the finale, creating a question of the validity of the entire review. Let's stop the hate and anger. Let it go. The past has passed. My first visit to this office was concerning. As I was in a room waiting to see Dr. Lane Benziger and could hear him with his other patient in the next room. I could hear him being verbally abusive to the animal. I was on my way to walk out when he came in the room so I stayed. He was nice to my dog so I had my dog fixed there. After that I never took my dog back. This is after I had found out about all the verbal and physical abuse that was going on in his office. Not only was he physically abusive to the animals but verbally abusive to the animals and his employees. I know many women that were employees of his that quit because they could not stand to watch all of this. Nor could they deal with his inappropriate conduct between employee and employer. Before this man says that there is no file on me or my dog just look at all the negative reviews. That's his answer for most if not all of them. I surely hope he changes his ways and learns to treat animals and employees with respect. I know many people that have reported him to the APL. They say that many people have complained about this man and that there is an ongoing investigation for his office. Please for your animals sake DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! He likes to play Mr.Nice guy to your face to get your business but behind closed doors is awful to your animals! My wife has been taking her pets here for over twenty years. When we got married, we continued to take our pets here. Needless to say, but I will anyway, we were going here when Dr. Lane took over the practice. We have had dogs and cats euthanized by Dr. Lane. The first dog that had to be euthanized here, Dr. Lane cried with us. Since then he has never ever once been anything but compassionate. He even offered to bring one of our dogs home for us after a surgery, when it appeared we couldn't get there before closing.
