So had to take my 10 year old Husky to see them. My wife both my sons and my daughter in law was with our dog they said that they staff was very rude and seemed like they just cared about the money the veterinarian never touched him at all and he had to be out to sleep never be back or recommend them to anyone where are the veterinarians that really care about the pets and the owners and not about money read more

If you love and care about your pet, PLEASE TAKE THEM ANYWHERE ELSE!!! I had been concerned about the level of care our pup had been getting when his health took a drastic turn. After spending well over $1,000 for tests and x-rays and still no answers, we went for a second opinion (to a wonderful vet in Indianapolis) and were immediately given answers: there was a large tumor in his stomach, fluid in his lungs, and a heart murmur. Somehow the vets at Devonshire missed everything. Their answer was to switch his diet. Now he's on medication but we don't want anyone else to go through the same situation which cost us a ridiculous amount of money and nothing to show for it but frustration and concern for our baby. Please don't let this happen to your furbaby! read more

Really annoying. We went here to get them vaccine shots. To do the vaccine shots, they charged us for a physical. But they did not examine the dogs at all. We had two dogs. One had a growth on their tail they did not say about and forgot to ask. The other had dental issues they did not tell us about. Taking them to another vet 6 months later and realize that they are both in need of attention. Ridiculous. Do not go to this place read more

I love Dr. Smiley and all the staff at Devonshire! Very friendly and professional. My family has been taking our pets here ever since I was young and we love it. Although it can be expensive at times. I think it's worth it. They provide good, quality care for your fur babies. read more

Dr. Blasdel is a life saver!! Our 10 year old red bone coonhound, Zoey, had a cyst on her back that had ruptured and gotten infected (when this happened we actually had an ear appointment with a dermatologist, and they confirmed it was infected and recommended we go to our normal vet to get it removed). We were extremely worried to put her under since our girl is 10, and we didn't want to take her to our normal vet since we had trouble with them fixing Zoey's ear infection last summer. We went to Dr. Blasdel and felt very secure having her treat Zoey! The week of Zoey being on antibiotics leading up to her appointment made her cyst look much better. Dr. Blasdel was very understanding and explained that we could bring her in to prep for surgery, but that they would make sure it still needed to be removed, and that if it looked good they would not proceed with surgery. She confirmed the cyst needed removed, and we also asked her to remove a growth from Zoey's eye as well since she will already be under. Dr. Blasdel looked over Zoey's other lumps to make sure nothing else was concerning. She was very understanding about helping us be cost effective. Zoey is home and doing great now. We are so glad we saw Dr. Blasdel, as she really gave us peace of mind that Zoey will be safe (also during this short time period we had our first baby born, and Zoey had surgery when our baby was just a week old, so minimizing the stress was wonderful). This place is fantastic ! My dog Dewie had both of his ACL surgeries done here by Dr. Smiley . Everyone is very polite and helpful here . Prior to Dewie's surgery I had several questions and Dr Smiley answered them all an never once made me feel rushed . Dr. Smiley was able to evaluate my GSD remotely via the Medici App during Coronavirus when veterinarian offices were closed. He recommended a change in her diet as well as adding hip and joint supplements to her daily routine. He addressed her arthritic pain and provided valuable information on how to control her quality of life as she continues to age. She is like a puppy again, full of life and energy. I couldn't be more thankful for his professionalism and the convenience of telemedicine. read more

My family and I have had to look elsewhere for our pets' needs; because Devonshire is one of the most overpriced & heartless animal-clinics/hospitals you can find. When my cat was having trouble with his eye they told us to either get his eye removed for +$1000 or to have him put down. We asked if there was any other options and they responded with a "Nope! You don't like it go somewhere else." They were cold and couldn't care less about our beloved (1st) family pet of 15 years. Then they added insult to injury by wanting an arm and a leg (no pun intended) for euthanasia and body disposal. Latter my mom got 2 wiener dogs, but one had what we thought was a raised bump/fat on her underside... But Devonshire said it was a major hernia & we had to have her fixed ASAP and repair the hernia before she gets an organ pinched off. Like idiots we didn't seek another opinion, and they refused to do any other tests (because they're ALWAYS right on their FIRST look). Turned out that wasn't the problem and all the dog needed was some antibiotics and it went away in 2 days! 2Days!! Because of them we had a hard time parting with our cat, which WE took care of, and we couldn't have dachshund puppies. We had warning sign after sign of not to go back, but we did. We have a new cat now and I will NEVER be taking her to that shameless money-grabbing, organ-snatching, cold, unfeeling, grotesque EXCUSE of a veterinary clinic/hospital they call a "business." Do yourself a favor: if you love your pets go somewhere else. ANYWHERE else! P.S. The vet clinic in Middletown is totally worth the drive! read more

I wish there was one more star I could add for this place. My daughter took her cat in and was hit with the news that she had cancer and would need to be put down. Obviously very distraught, the staff there was nothing but kind and comforting, and did everything possible to make the cost as low as they could. My dog (minature poodle) has a heart murmur. I took him there for treatment and they said he needed an ultrasound - I had a choice of spending $75 or $331. Took him back the following week after deciding which ultrasound I could afford. I told the tech I wanted to start with the $75 ultrasound and then if we had to we'd go to the more expensive one. She took him away and did the test. Doctor showed me the results. The tech handed me the bill - for $331. Felt like the old "bait and switch". What was I supposed to do? Whipped out the old credit card.. Haven't been back since. read more

My family has been coming to Devonshire ever since I could remember! Their staff is always so kind, and really care about our pets! Dr. Smiley and Dr. Webster have helped us out tremendously. Recently, we had to take our Great Dane in for an emergency visit as he was vomiting all night. We called and they eagerly worked us into their schedule. Did all the tests to make sure he was good, and thoroughly explained the costs of the tests and medication to us so we understand why the price is the way it is so we know for a fact that we're not getting blindsided. I would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Devonshire vet clinic for the care and compassion they have shown,my fur babies and myself. They have been seeing us for years through happiness and heart break.My latest visit was to have Dental done on my 2 geriatric dogs The were loosing weight and not eating.I made an appointment for checks and they needed dental done. They had to have teeth removed and cleanings they had infection due to bad teeth,I had no way of knowing except when they started to loose weight.So PLEASE make sure your babies have DENTAL CHECK UPS DONE.I can only guess the pain they were in,remember they can't tell us.So again PLEASE have DENTAL CARE for your babies their health depends on it. read more

We have been taking our pets to Devonshire for several years now. With our beloved dogs and cats, we have been there for routine care, injury care, illness and end-of-life care. Dr. Smiley and Dr. Blasdel have always been thorough, caring and kind to us and we feel that our pets have received optimal care at every visit. The staff at Devonshire are wonderful people...animal lovers and consistently friendly and attentive. I would recommend Devonshire in a heartbeat. I feel that the negative review by someone prior to mine was likely someone from a competing veterinary office or someone with too much time on his hands wanting to just drive ratings down for some personal reason because I can't even fathom anything like his description EVER happening at Devonshire. read more

We had a horrible experience with Dr. Smiley. I took our then eight month old dog in for a growth on her hind leg. He led me to believe it was cancerous, kept repeating how good it was that we caught it early, and that it needed to be excised....for $575. Our dog weighed three pounds at the time. When I questioned why so high, I got "I'm sorry it's not free" in a sarcastic voice. I wasn't asking for free, just fair. My gut didn't feel this was right so we got a second opinion at another vet. Turns out, it was a hysteocytoma. A VERY common growth, especially in dogs under two, and was told it would go away on its own, which it did. Two problems here for me. Either A) Dr. Smiley truly did not recognize a very common growth, which is unacceptable, or B) he was preying on new puppy parents milking them for an unnecessary excision.
