Chief assistant who did my autorefractor and prescription review--she was professional and helpful and the only one who I'd call "friendly." The office staff however, were not friendly, competent, or responsive. Two key unresponsive times. I was calling around asking for the cost for an eye exam around a specific medical issue, and the office manager, Shellie Cutler, ho-hummed on the phone and said she had no idea and that I'd have to contact my insurance. My insurance company, of course, said I'd have to contact the office. Shellie seemed shocked I was even pressing the question. Is the North Shore is so un-used to questions about cost? Weeks later she finally provided partial information (not what I asked for but enough) and I scheduled and completed my visit. The doctor recommended follow-up visits with an "HRT" screening. I asked her in person on that but she didn't know. I followed up with email to Shellie for the cost for that. She didn't return. I had to hound her. Eventually she emailed me back and said she never checked, but would. Never received a follow-up. A year later was trying to order glasses and didn't have the script. Emailed Dr Wu's office asking about how to get the prescription. No answer. I sent another email. Finally a reply from a "Stephanie Dalinis" who said they had no record of my prescription. I sent them their own paperwork with Dr Wu's name and my name and asked for a reply. That email, and a subsequent email was ignored. Unacceptable. Will not return.

I found Dr. Goldstick through the web when he was recommended by a retiring eye doctor. I couldn't be more pleased with the choice. I have a history of wearing contacts since I was 14, glasses since I was 4 and have a complicated prescription. My contacts and my eye sight need more than the average eye exam and I usually need to get either new glasses or new contacts every year or 2 years. I wanted a doctor who understood my background and could continue to advise me moving forward. First of all.. Dr. Goldstick is so down to earth, gentle, funny and very kind. He takes his time with every patient and makes sure that all of your questions are answered. My exam lasted less than an hour, he was on time and his staff was super sweet. He was very thorough and made sure that we talked about everything.. from reading glasses (ah-hem.. age) to the possibilities for eye surgery. But he was never pushy and in fact suggested strongly that I do not consider eye surgery until he sees more advancement for the type of lens replacement surgery that I would need. (I'm not a LASIK candidate). On top of it all, he didn't even suggest that I get new glasses or contacts.. rather he gave me a special cleaner for my contacts to try for now instead of pushing me to buy new lenses. The bottom line is that he is very practical, he listens to you and will be honest with his advice and he is not pushing you into purchasing anything. He really cares about his patients and he is just a joy to see. I highly recommend him to anyone.

The front desk staff is reserved, but not unfriendly. This is a medical office, not a retail environment. I work in the medical field and I found them to be very professional. Both of the doctors I saw were very kind (amazing bedside manner), professional and helpful. I went for an emergency visit for a scratched cornia. The diagnosed me quickly and accurately, Dr. Greenberg described the exact angle I had gotten scratched at. I was in an out in about 30 mins (that included filing out paperwork as a new patient.) I called at least 6 doctors to ask for an emergency visit before Eye Surgeons agreed to see me immediately. If you've never had the pleasure, corneal scratches are PAINFUL and being seen quickly is important. I am grateful for their help in this situation and I HIGHLY recommend their services! Thank you Dr's Greenberg and Goldberg! * I also want to add a comment regarding people who commented on the staff speaking "another" language. When I visited the office, many of the patients were speaking "another" language. It is an ABSOLUTE ASSET in healthcare to be able to communicate with patients in their native language or the language they are most fluent in. This means that the healthcare provider can get more accurate information regarding a patient's health concerns. I commend Eye Surgeons for being aware of the needs of their patients and having people working there who can communicate effectively. Everyone there also speaks perfect English, so I don't see why anyone would have a problem.

Here's my experience: After struggling with an ongoing eye issue and visiting several different ophthalmologists who unfortunately were unable to treat or properly diagnose my problem, I went to dr. Gutmann for another opinion. I am so relieved and grateful I went to him. First of all, his demeanor is very sweet and patient. He is a very intelligent and very well educated man and yet he does not treat his patients any differently. I witnessed the way he approached several other patients that day from different backgrounds and he is truly an upstanding guy, very respectful and kind. A genuine man who has a passion for what he does. He took the time to listen to my concerns and explained what he thought was going on. He then used a different eye drop to diagnose my condition, and sure enough he found the problem. At least now I have answers and will proceed accordingly. I am very happy I went to him and I encourage anyone to get a second opinion from him when in doubt. I will never go to any other eye doctor again.

Loses one star because it's very expensive (I have no vision insurance) and they don't have any budget-friendly frames that I saw (everything was $300 or more).
