Chief assistant who did my autorefractor and prescription review--she was professional and helpful and the only one who I'd call "friendly." The office staff however, were not friendly, competent, or responsive. Two key unresponsive times. I was calling around asking for the cost for an eye exam around a specific medical issue, and the office manager, Shellie Cutler, ho-hummed on the phone and said she had no idea and that I'd have to contact my insurance. My insurance company, of course, said I'd have to contact the office. Shellie seemed shocked I was even pressing the question. Is the North Shore is so un-used to questions about cost? Weeks later she finally provided partial information (not what I asked for but enough) and I scheduled and completed my visit. The doctor recommended follow-up visits with an "HRT" screening. I asked her in person on that but she didn't know. I followed up with email to Shellie for the cost for that. She didn't return. I had to hound her. Eventually she emailed me back and said she never checked, but would. Never received a follow-up. A year later was trying to order glasses and didn't have the script. Emailed Dr Wu's office asking about how to get the prescription. No answer. I sent another email. Finally a reply from a "Stephanie Dalinis" who said they had no record of my prescription. I sent them their own paperwork with Dr Wu's name and my name and asked for a reply. That email, and a subsequent email was ignored. Unacceptable. Will not return.

I found Dr. Goldstick through the web when he was recommended by a retiring eye doctor. I couldn't be more pleased with the choice. I have a history of wearing contacts since I was 14, glasses since I was 4 and have a complicated prescription. My contacts and my eye sight need more than the average eye exam and I usually need to get either new glasses or new contacts every year or 2 years. I wanted a doctor who understood my background and could continue to advise me moving forward. First of all.. Dr. Goldstick is so down to earth, gentle, funny and very kind. He takes his time with every patient and makes sure that all of your questions are answered. My exam lasted less than an hour, he was on time and his staff was super sweet. He was very thorough and made sure that we talked about everything.. from reading glasses (ah-hem.. age) to the possibilities for eye surgery. But he was never pushy and in fact suggested strongly that I do not consider eye surgery until he sees more advancement for the type of lens replacement surgery that I would need. (I'm not a LASIK candidate). On top of it all, he didn't even suggest that I get new glasses or contacts.. rather he gave me a special cleaner for my contacts to try for now instead of pushing me to buy new lenses. The bottom line is that he is very practical, he listens to you and will be honest with his advice and he is not pushing you into purchasing anything. He really cares about his patients and he is just a joy to see. I highly recommend him to anyone.

The glasses Rx: I told every person I encountered, front desk, the doctor, sales staff, that I was paying out of pocket and ordering frames online. I explicitly and repeatedly requested my PD values for exactly that reason. It took a full week after my appointment to receive my lens prescription at all. When I followed up about the missing PD values I was told they never measured them because I wasn't buying frames in-office, and that I would need to come back for a separate appointment. I made my intentions clear at the only appointment I had. That information was ignored. The eye drop Rx: Specialty compound, originally sourced from an apothecary. I was told the doctor would call when ready. She never called. More voicemails. More unanswered emails. When I finally reached someone, I was told it would now route through CVS like any standard prescription. I waited two more weeks. CVS called me, not the office, to say the doctor had never sent pre-authorization. FIVE WEEKS AFTER MY ONE AND ONLY APPOINTMENT. This is not a bad day or an off week. This is a practice that does not follow through on calls, on emails, on prescriptions, on its own commitments. Every failure here is administrative, entirely preventable, and the cumulative effect has impacted my health. Screenshots attached. The timeline speaks for itself. If you have the time, persistence, and stamina to chase a medical office for five weeks across eight unreturned contacts, you might eventually get what you're owed. Most people don't.
