My husband and I came here on a Friday evening to see the Michael Jackson movie. We arrived early…read morebecause we had heard this location had a bar, and we thought it would be nice to grab a drink and some food before the movie. It was our first time visiting this downtown location, so we were excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, our first impression wasn't great. When we walked in, there were two employees at the front ticket desk, both with their heads down on their phones. Neither acknowledged us with a hello, welcome, or even looked up as we entered. We eventually found the bar toward the back. The menu was actually a decent size, offering both food and alcoholic beverages. We ordered the fish and chips, nachos, and a couple of drinks. One small issue was that the bartender never asked what type of meat we wanted on the nachos (pork or chicken), and the menu didn't indicate there was a choice. As for the drinks, they were just okay. Mine tasted more like a Sweet Tart than an actual cocktail and wasn't particularly memorable. Our food was packaged for us to take into the theater, which was convenient. We also noticed a wood-fired oven that I assume is used for their pizzas, which looked promising. The next hiccup came when it was time to have our tickets scanned. There was one older employee handling the line, and the process moved incredibly slowly. Something that should have taken seconds ended up taking close to ten minutes due to the pace of the line. The theater itself was nice. It was spacious, the reclining seats were comfortable, and the sound quality during the movie was very good. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment of the night. The nachos were, honestly, a complete miss--covered in excessive nacho cheese with what tasted like mystery BBQ meat. We each took one bite and threw the rest away because we knew we weren't going to enjoy it. The fish seemed fresh, but it had absolutely no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. The fries, however, were fresh and ended up being the only part of the meal I actually ate. We ended up buying popcorn and candy instead. Overall, the theater itself was comfortable, and the sound quality was great, but nothing about the overall experience really stood out enough to make me want to drive all the way downtown again. With improvements in customer service and food quality, I think this place has potential, but based on this visit, it just wasn't worth the trip for

The confederate flag waving across the street was a bit appalling to see waving in 2019, but what kind of American would I be if I didn't let my love of historic theater restoration and movies themselves and get to know these people and share the commonality that we do have. Hey, they might not be down with the statue of the confederate general too. That's their antiquated past. However, the young gentleman with the beard and cap behind the concession stand suggested a great cafe in its own right for a comfy sit down. And as I walked through this small town's serene streets back to the theater, I fantasized of how profoundly cool it would be to see my favorite cult classic movies on a summer night with a refreshing soda and warm, golden popcorn. When ordering, I noticed the staff member took the bun into a side room for a long moment, which I found a little odd but didn't think much of at the time. The moment we stepped into the theater, we were hit with a strong, unpleasant odor that honestly set a bad tone for the experience. Back to the hot dog--when we sat down, I picked it up only to realize the bun was completely hard, almost like a rock. It became clear that the employee must've noticed and attempted to soften it in a microwave, but it didn't help much. I tried to make it work, but the bun wouldn't even tear, so I had to give up on my hot dog entirely. This theater really needs some updates--not just in food quality, but in overall cleanliness and maintenance. I'll probably return since it's the most convenient location for me, but it's definitely not for the experience.

A person who is not familiar with the theatre may need to ask specific questions for clarification of what they are seeing on the seating screen.
