Headline: Tax Evasion Tactics and Dishonest Pricing - Avoid This Shop!…read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this shop. They use classic bait-and-switch tactics to avoid taxes and overcharge customers. Initially, they quoted me a ridiculous $930 for labor on my Lexus ES350, then offered to "lower" it to $790 only if I paid in CASH. This is clearly a tactic to avoid taxes while still charging premium rates. I provided all my own parts (spark plugs and two catalytic converters). Even though they only installed ONE of the two converters, they still forced me to pay the full "cash price" we had discussed for the entire job. When I asked about the second converter--which is a simple 30-minute job in the front of the engine--the mechanic tried to extort another $350 from me! To make it worse, the mechanic lied to my face about the technical difficulty of the job to justify his price hiking, claiming the rear catalyst is easier to access than the front one (a blatant lie to anyone who knows Lexus engines). These people are not honest mechanics; they are predators looking for cash-heavy transactions. The shop is empty for a reason. Check the other reviews--I'm not the only one they've tried to scam. Do yourself a favor and go to a professional shop that accepts cards and provides honest estimates.

Hit so hard it crumpled the hood a bit and passenger door wouldn't open. Not happy time at my house. We called Geico and they took care of it. Seems Waterloo Motors service is a bit higher on the labor. But people need to be paid for their service and mechanics are in need. They did a great job on my son's car. They had good communication and we're happy to have the car back. It does look nice. They did a good job.

He knew that was ridiculous and probably instantly remembered the year before they passed my old car which externally was in far worst ship including both headlights cracked from some dummy loosing trash out of his pickup while flying down the highway. To top it off quoted a replacement at $7000. When I looked after that I couldn't find one for $7000 but only the most expensive still $4000 less than that and the only replacements I could find was the entire light assembly at that. Still expensive but 7000 naw not buyin it and regardless I still wouldn't even spend 1000 on a plastic light cover. I spoke to several other businesses that has not seen it themselves at that time but said if it's how I described it than waterloo is just being ridiculous for no reason. I specifically explained that it was important for me to speak with the mechanic after the inspection so I could understand not only whether the vehicle was currently safe to drive, but also whether there were any developing issues, wear items, or concerns I should be aware of going forward. Since I paid for a multipoint checkup, I think it was entirely reasonable to expect an opportunity to ask the mechanic a few questions about what he actually observed during the inspection--not simply be handed a general "everything looks fine" conclusion. After the inspection, I paid the charges but was told the mechanic was not available to speak with me. I asked that he contact me afterward, but no one did. I called again and received no response. Because I had been led to believe I would be contacted, I ultimately drove back to the shop in person, only to then be told that mechanics do not speak with customers. That was particularly frustrating because I had made my expectations clear before the appointment. I did not bring the vehicle in merely to receive a generic assurance that "everything is fine." I wanted the benefit of the mechanic's actual observations after examining the vehicle, especially before a 1,200-mile drive. At this point, despite paying for the evaluation, I have very little understanding of the actual condition of my vehicle beyond a summary declaration that all was well. If all I wanted was a rubber stamp, I could have gone elsewhere. What I expected was a meaningful inspection followed by enough communication to understand what was found and whether there is anything I should monitor, maintain, or address in the foreseeable future. I'm frustrated that, after paying for what I expected to be a meaningful evaluation, I now have to take my car somewhere else and pay again just to get the proper assessment and explanation this shop failed to provide.
