The front office is clean and orderly, the work on my car was wonderful - they caught an issue that had been happening for years and remedied it! - the new electronic invoice system made it very easy to see what my car needed and associated costs. John and Trevor were very professional and competent. Our Yukon XL has been leaking oil for years, and I only wish we'd come to them sooner. John was thorough in gathering information and explaining on the front end, and then as we looked at the quote, both men were very helpful. Trevor is a wizard of a mechanic and did a terrific job explaining what he did! They also performed great work on our daughter's Hyundai Accent, fixing a problem our usual shop couldn't identify a couple of times. We called to have some repairs done on our Traverse using our warranty where per the company, we are allowed to choose any shop of our choice. We had heard good things about Shortys and being we live on the same street, thought it convenient. We dropped over the weekend and my husband called on Monday morning to explain what we needed and he was met with nothing but attitude and rudeness. He was told they wouldn't take our warranty unless we paid up front (which our warranty company said was not necessary) and then we'd be reimbursed. When my husband went to pick up our car he was also met with rudeness, being asked "what do you want" when he walked in to get our keys. Even my 8 year old came home telling me how rude the man was. I'm not sure why we encountered such a rude experience but my husband said the man looked him up and down with a nasty face and figured it's because he is Hispanic. Too bad because we were happy to give this garage our business! read more

Outstanding service. Needed to have shocks replaced on my 1987 Cadillac. The staff was courteous and efficient. Made sure that the air ride suspension system was in complete working order after the new shocks were installed. Will visit them again! read more

Tucked away behind Rt. 1 is a gem of a garage that has been advertised through word-of-mouth for over 2 decades. Customer's "in the know" count ourselves among the lucky ones; we don't have to worry about our cars once Shorty's has taken care of them. They'll work on anything, whether import or domestic, car or truck, rusted jalopy or sparkling Benz. They specialize in high-performance work too, for y'all that like power and speed. They're also a State Inspection station, and accept all forms of payment. Honesty and Trust are the most important things to look for when mechanic-shopping. In today's world, it's all too common for an auto repair shop to screw over it's customers. But I'll put my name on the line that you can trust these guys. This place is the best and the only place I take my vehicle to get repairs. Always honest and reliable. I have total confidence that the guys at the shop will do great quality work and that I will be charged a fair price. They are quiet and straightforward, but are good at explaining things when needed. The shop is located off a quiet neighborhood street. I always feel safe leaving my car there. Most recently had my break pads replaced and something done with the rotors. I have been a customer of Shorty's Garage since Gary and Jim bought it during the mid-1980's. Gary had already been working on my vehicles since 1980, so it was a natural progression for me. They, along with Tony and Jason, are honest, reliable, and expert mechanics, and their prices are always reasonable and fair. I won't take my vehicles anyplace else. If they tell me that I need to have something fixed I know that it does indeed need to be repaired. They have also saved me a lot of money when applicable by recommending a less expensive, albeit entirely safe and appropriate alternative repair, when available. I trust them completely. Dropped my son's truck off, for what we thought was a Fuel Pump issue. Most quotes in the area ranged from $600-$1200 for the repair. It ended up just being a bad cam sensor - $206! Honest mechanics are hard to come by, especially when you are a clueless girl. Happy about finding great mechanics, I dropped my car off for a state inspection. They found a loose tie rod (just got my car back from being in a front end accident less than a week ago), they called and asked if I had been in a front end accident recently, b/c of the tie rod. This should have been repaired by the Auto Body, but apparently was missed. Needless to say Shorty's is repairing it and the insurance company is reimbursing me. If you are looking for honest mechanics, come here. If you want a fancy waiting room with coffee and sodas, with Service Writers trying to sell you a bunch of stuff - this is not your place. I'll take honesty over fancy anyday. read more
