My mother lived here for a few years. The conditions really deteriorated over the last year. The…read morefood was poor and the health department shut down common dining service for about two weeks. This was not the first time it happened but seems to be a recurring problem. There was some gastrointestinal aliment going through the residents and they wanted individuals to stay in their apartments or leave the build. Isolation like that is awful for senior citizens. Meals were delivered to units but arrived late and were of poor quality. The home health care agency that is part of this facility is poorly managed. Aides don't show up. There is no back up and residents that are old and frail don't have the resources to fend for themselves. When you are looking for a place to put your Mom, Dad etc. don't choose this one.

DON"T MOVE THERE!----My mom moved back to NY to be near family. When she first moved in to Atria…read moreRye Brook, the facility was well run, had a fully stocked cafe with snacks replenished throughout the day and a decent restaurant. Not anymore! The snacks are gone. The restaurant is awful and The Cafe only has awful coffee or lukewarm tea, no snacks. Every year the rent increased over 3% and the quality went downhill. At holiday times, they used to invite family members (for free) for dinners or lunches. Now the parties only include the residents, (maybe a desert only party for Halloween or Christmas). THere used to be family barbecues for the 4th of July & Labor Day. Those celebrations no longer include families. The windows in the apartments are all broken. They don't open. If they do, they won't close. Frequently the heat & a/c are broken. The infrastructure needs to be replaced. It was poorly designed and very cheaply built. The individual heat or a/c units in the apartments are VERY noisy & inefficient. My biggest complaint however, is the other component,ATRIA HOME CARE, which runs the optional home health agency in the building. Although it is very convenient to have this on-site agency, the quality of the care is questionable in many ways. The agency is understaffed and poorly run. Many of the aides are not well trained to deal with the personalities and problems of senior citizens. There is only one licensed nurse on staff, and no one is there at night. Absenteism is a problem and they don't have enough staff to cover the needs of the residents on a daily basis. THe billing system for Atria Home Care sends out fraudulent, inflated bills and doesn't check the accuracy of their own accounting. They use a phone system to track the charges for Atria Home Care. The system frequently overcharges for the service and if you don't check the bills line by line you could be overcharged thousands of dollars. NO ONE CARES. This agency needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau in Westchester County. If money managers or insurance companies are paying these bills, without carefully checking the charges with the residents, I am sure the bills are frequently wrong. Atria Home Care is not an agency you want to hire to care for your loved ones. Stay away, they are not caring or nurturing, they are just a business in place to make money. Atria Rye Brook is a residence that costs a ton of money and barely delivers.

She was always available to talk to families and my mother trusted her. They have a wonderful staff.. She especially connected with Susan, who is the Activity Director. There are fantastic activities which stimulate the brain and are fun. I recently moved her to California to be closer to more family. The Ambassador helped coordinate the move and facilitated her recovery after a broken hip. This is a top notch facility.

The Ambassador seems to be a very good choice for our parents who are unable to live independently anymore, The Ambassador's management team provides high-quality care and services. They are accessible, responsive and flexible. Their healthcare assessments, arrangements and execution have been excellent. They show empathy for the residents, and understanding of the aging process. The food tastes wonderful; they offer healthy, balanced nutrition. The serving staff are very caring; genuinely nice people. Virtually everyone of the staff (nurses, aides, cleaning, concierge, social, PT, maintenance, security and other support) seems sincere, dedicated and kind. The Ambassador is moderate in size, which allows a more intimate and personal touch. For example, employees greet most residents by name. The physical layout is logical and manageable. There are a reasonable amount of diverse activities for the residents. It's in a new, well-constructed building, designed with foresight and well-maintained. The facilities are well-lit, and heating/cooling are comfortable. I'm not sure why the previous reviewer (a year ago) found the atmosphere too formal; my parents have found the resident community and staff quite warm and friendly -- with a few characters interspersed. Overall, I highly recommend the Ambassador.

They show her love, keep her safe, respect her dignity, and most importantly she is happy. We looked at numerous communities and appreciated the compassion of admissions. She was transparent. Are things perfect no, but we advocate for mom and they always step up. To the reviewer with the photo, we remember your mom as we come daily and assumed she had no family. I want to tell you, in your absence, we witnessed staff making her laugh, they showed empathy & care for her safety. We trust we made the right decision and we wouldn't have mom anywhere else. Thank you for taking such loving care of her! God bless you all!

just now NEW We moved…read moreour dad into the Chelsea at Greenburgh at the end of December 2021. I wanted to wait a whole year before writing this review. Let me first address the one review stating that the Chelsea has a predatory process. While I completely understand the frustrations of the paperwork and the entire process you have to go through, It's not predatory. Every facility requires this. I know because my brother and I visited 5 facilities, and this is the process. I do wish it had been simpler, but it never made me feel like it was predatory. The staff at the Chelsea are all wonderful. I am there all the time, as I am a freelance makeup artist running my own business, and make my own schedule. The Chelsea is ten minutes from me so it's easy for me to stop by often, and my dad likes my presence. I also did not want a facility that was too far from me or my brother who lives in NYC. He can easily take the train from GCT to the very close by Hartsdale train station. In our search for an assisted living facility it was important that not only did it have good care, but that it be aesthetically pleasing, and that the staff be friendly, caring and attentive. I have gotten to become so friendly with the staff. The staff is always around, helpful and kind. I am so especially fond of Franchesca, who did our tours, as I went alone initially, and came back with my brother. She is literally one of my most favorite humans on the face of the earth. The most kind, caring and genuine souls out there! The Chelsea's decor is beautiful! So modern and visually alluring. There were some growing pains in the beginning with the move and transition, but it's going to happen no matter where your loved one ends up. Management has always made the time to discuss any issues or concerns and offer resolutions. I know we made the right choice with the Chelsea. There are also tons of great restaurants, shopping and activities in the area to do with your loved one when you visit. Our dad likes the food here and the daily menus always looks appealing. They are also trying new offsite activities for the residents and are open to feedback. You can bring your beloved pet as long as you can safely manage him/her. My dad has his 9 year old labradoodle here, and she is the star of the Chelsea! Everyone loves her. Last year was a big process of change with our fathers new life and his early stage dementia. This isn't easy at all. If you drink alcohol, you will probably drink a lot more. As stressful as it is managing your loved ones life and finances, I can go to sleep knowing our dad is safe and not burning the house down because he forgot to turn the stove off. Go visit the Chelsea!!
