Beautiful campus, attentive staff, spacious individual rooms. My grandmother had double knee surgery and Burke was about to kick her out, so Osborn took her in. It's a rehab and retirement center in one. Almost all of my family members in NY have come here at one point following a surgery--my dad for his knees, my grandmother for her hip, and my grandfather for his hip. And every single time has been a great recovery experience. Love that there is so much scenery-wise. Plenty of gardens, numerous walkways to explore, and even a manmade fish pond. It is so peaceful coming here--kind of like you're on a mini vacation.

The Ambassador seems to be a very good choice for our parents who are unable to live independently anymore, The Ambassador's management team provides high-quality care and services. They are accessible, responsive and flexible. Their healthcare assessments, arrangements and execution have been excellent. They show empathy for the residents, and understanding of the aging process. The food tastes wonderful; they offer healthy, balanced nutrition. The serving staff are very caring; genuinely nice people. Virtually everyone of the staff (nurses, aides, cleaning, concierge, social, PT, maintenance, security and other support) seems sincere, dedicated and kind. The Ambassador is moderate in size, which allows a more intimate and personal touch. For example, employees greet most residents by name. The physical layout is logical and manageable. There are a reasonable amount of diverse activities for the residents. It's in a new, well-constructed building, designed with foresight and well-maintained. The facilities are well-lit, and heating/cooling are comfortable. I'm not sure why the previous reviewer (a year ago) found the atmosphere too formal; my parents have found the resident community and staff quite warm and friendly -- with a few characters interspersed. Overall, I highly recommend the Ambassador.

To all who are seeking a place for a loved one, please be cautious of this place. My grandmother…read morehad moved into this place several years ago after her husband passed away while still being semi independent. In the beginning, it was a second home to her, filled with countless activities, caring staff and management, and so on. Unfortunately, as time went on, and my grandmother was having much more trouble walking before transitioning to a wheel chair and constantly having to use the bathroom due to medical issues, the place changed. The facility kept tacking on extra care charges despite the fact my grandma had a private aid 12 hours a day. When trying to call the finance department to state that my family was paying privately for an aid for half the day, all we were left with was an argument, a cold nature from the woman who works in the finance department or at one point, no call backs because they could not be bothered doing their research. My grandmother had fallen, while an aid, who worked for the fountains (not private,) was in her apartment with her, resulting in three fractured ribs, stitches in her head, hip injury, a black eye, a bloody nose and being rushed to the ER. The aid in the room was the same aid my grandmother had asked management not to assist her due to the aids cold, rude and uncaring nature that had resulted in discrepancies in the past. To this day, my grandmother, facility staff and the aid all have different stories. How does a resident fall in their small apartment while an aid is present you may ask? We still ask to this day. On top of this, the facility nearly blamed my grandmother for the aid not doing her job properly. Not too long after this incident, my grandmother had to go to a rehab facility. The Fountains waited until the last possible second (3 days before she was to be released from rehab) to evaluate my grandmother to only say they would not take her back at the fountains. My grandmother was devastated. If you ask me, they did not take her back to cover their own behinds because of the incident that occurred with the aid in her room. The Fountains uprooted my grandmothers entire life due to not taking her back, and essentially left her without a place to live. On top of that, she was expected to pay for each day her belongings were still in her apartment. Imagine being held liable to pay an excessive amount of money when a facility essentially kicked you out of your home? Absolutely sickening. Please be Leary of this place before placing a loved one her. Please also do not trust the aid SUSANNA with your loved one, as she is the aid responsible for my grandmas injuries due to carelessness. The staff and management are not what it used to be. They have no problem taking your money, but have problems with taking responsibility for the staff's poor behaviors and correcting it

He hesitated a bit but after settling into his apartment and new routine, he seems at ease. He enjoys it all, but most of all the restaurant-style food service. He loves the varied (and customizable) menu choices, the plentiful food, and the elegant service. The staff at all levels could not be more caring and enthusiastic about him and all the residents. It's a great environment, topped off with a fabulous location in the heart of the village of Tuckahoe, New York, experiencing its own revival in recent years. The Fountains at RiverVue have turned out to be a great choice for our family. And it's true! A river runs through it! Or is that a "rivie're?"

Due to several upsetting incidents, we asked about placing a camera in their room. We were informed cameras were NOT permitted by Kendal on Hudson (except in independent living). After our loved one passed away, our family arrived to clear out their room in the Sunnyside section and were shocked to find it had been left unlocked since our loved one had been taken into the hospital. Upon entering the room it was obvious many items were missing. We informed the administrator and were treated terribly. Ultimately, the incident was reported to the police. It was an awful time for our family, made so much worse by the treatment we received, and the complete lack of accountability or responsibility for protecting our loved one's property. Kendal's policy of no cameras throughout areas of the care sections, including residents' rooms, allowed them to completely control the narrative. This really made us question some of our earlier concerns. I wish we had a better experience because our loved one sold their family home to enter this facility. Unless Kendal on Hudson has changed their policy, I would suggest you consider a facility with a camera-friendly policy, as it's often the only witness these vulnerable residents have.

just now NEW We moved…read moreour dad into the Chelsea at Greenburgh at the end of December 2021. I wanted to wait a whole year before writing this review. Let me first address the one review stating that the Chelsea has a predatory process. While I completely understand the frustrations of the paperwork and the entire process you have to go through, It's not predatory. Every facility requires this. I know because my brother and I visited 5 facilities, and this is the process. I do wish it had been simpler, but it never made me feel like it was predatory. The staff at the Chelsea are all wonderful. I am there all the time, as I am a freelance makeup artist running my own business, and make my own schedule. The Chelsea is ten minutes from me so it's easy for me to stop by often, and my dad likes my presence. I also did not want a facility that was too far from me or my brother who lives in NYC. He can easily take the train from GCT to the very close by Hartsdale train station. In our search for an assisted living facility it was important that not only did it have good care, but that it be aesthetically pleasing, and that the staff be friendly, caring and attentive. I have gotten to become so friendly with the staff. The staff is always around, helpful and kind. I am so especially fond of Franchesca, who did our tours, as I went alone initially, and came back with my brother. She is literally one of my most favorite humans on the face of the earth. The most kind, caring and genuine souls out there! The Chelsea's decor is beautiful! So modern and visually alluring. There were some growing pains in the beginning with the move and transition, but it's going to happen no matter where your loved one ends up. Management has always made the time to discuss any issues or concerns and offer resolutions. I know we made the right choice with the Chelsea. There are also tons of great restaurants, shopping and activities in the area to do with your loved one when you visit. Our dad likes the food here and the daily menus always looks appealing. They are also trying new offsite activities for the residents and are open to feedback. You can bring your beloved pet as long as you can safely manage him/her. My dad has his 9 year old labradoodle here, and she is the star of the Chelsea! Everyone loves her. Last year was a big process of change with our fathers new life and his early stage dementia. This isn't easy at all. If you drink alcohol, you will probably drink a lot more. As stressful as it is managing your loved ones life and finances, I can go to sleep knowing our dad is safe and not burning the house down because he forgot to turn the stove off. Go visit the Chelsea!!
