I'd heard about the rabid, evil Millwall fans, and seen them so many times away from home, and once in their old stadium as a younger lad. Not the case on the day I was here, but then the opponent was a lowly and unexciting adversary. It's a good stadium though, not as expensive as some of the others in London, by a long shot. I enjoyed my day, I was covered from the rain by the stands, I didn't get stabbed (people used to say that's what happened at Millwall games), and altogether I found it a lot more pleasant and also underwhelming than expected. I'll try it again for a much bigger game, one of these days... to see what the fuss is really about. So when I was doing my first tour of Scotland in 2011, I also hit up every single stadium in the country. My obsession with footy (soccer to Americans) is the reason. It creates an intimidating atmosphere of course. It was built in 92 for 16 mil, and is the pride of South East London, with a capacity of around 20k. As you can see from the pictures, it's absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is intense, but it would be better if it filled in the corners.

The concessions are overpriced/expensive but there are a lot of options. There are a few drink vendors offering a variety of options such as beer, Pimm's cups, and spritzes. Food options were a little more limited, especially in the gluten free area. They also have bar and restaurant options which are nice as well as a champagne lounge. Bathrooms are plentiful and has no issues accessing with little queue wait. Exiting following the show, it was a little frustrating because they weren't letting people use the escalators and directing people down the stairs that were a little claustrophobic and made you feel someone was going to take a tumble. But once you were out, there are plenty of routes to ensure you get to your destination... unless you are taking the Tube, which in that case, you may need to have patience. But watching shows there are great.

I can't give this stadium less than a 4 because it's so loud and intense and the crowd are right on top of the players, but there's no way such a tiny stadium can get a 5 for a club that should really have a bigger and grander stadium. It looks like they won't be in the Prem much longer anyway (they never usually are), but if the club won't be missed (too many London clubs, esp West London), then the stadium will and its atmosphere too. It's in White City, a great part of London that is maybe a little racially monotonous. It's just near Shepherd's Bush. I think maybe he should shave it off. It opened in 1904, and Fulham briefly played here in the 00s.

In the spring of 2002, when I was doing a semester abroad in London, I did a work study (internship) at QPR. At the time, they were in the Second Division (third tier). I had hear of QPR but didn't know much about the club. But my time there made me a fan and I'm proud to be a supporter of the R's. Now that they're back in the top flight, I had a perfect excuse to head back over the pond for a visit and to take in a Premiership match. Loftus Road Stadium is definitely a throw-back to the more modest days of the sport. Compared to Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium (review here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-emirates-stadium-london#hrid:nvZxRYSY_mKiQndnHx2iQw), Loftus Road is like a backyard shed. It's old, not at all modern, and for a Premier League ground, quite small. But it also has immense character, is very intimate, and incredibly approachable. One of the great things about the smaller clubs is how accessible the players are as well. If you get to Loftus Road early you can catch many of the players walking from the player parking lot into the stadium, and most of them are happy to stop to sign an autograph or snap a quick photo with you. Try doing that at Manchester United or Chelsea! QPR is a fantastic little club with an incredible history. Hopefully they'll be in the top flight for years to come. Which means I better start saving up now for what I hope can be an annual pilgrimage.

With just three stands and a capacity of around 7000 its also pretty small as far as football grounds go, but my did I love it here. You can't beat standing on the terraces to cheer your team on. The atmosphere is great, lots of singing and a bit of banter with the opposing fans. Yes, facilities are pretty basic. I think there was one burger van and a couple of portaloos available for the away fans. Its also a long and winding walk through a park to get in and out of the ground. However, for this Carling Cup game against Manchester United, Aldershot pulled out all the stops. Yes - they had Chas and Dave playing live before kick off!! Manchester United AND Chas and Dave - all my dreams have come true! Not to mention that United won 3-0. I left a happy lady!

I want to give it a 5 star rating so badly because I love it here so much, but I can't. It's so run down and hasn't had a really good investment in a long time. Yet it remains one of the most passionate and intimate places to watch football, right by the sea, and a wonderful destination for fans and a historic place. The amazing thing is, I've seen Pompey (they play here) play in 4 different tiers of football. Premier League (vs Oxford in the old days as a tiny kid), Championship (both home and away), League One (just a few years ago) and League Two (last year). I enjoyed all of them, but things were more intense back in the old days. I'd have given them a 5 star back then but things changed, stadiums got safer and more comfortable, and Portsmouth didn't move with the times. It creates a real crazy atmosphere and I do love the way it's close to the sea and right in the middle of a neighborhood. The food isn't great, the loos are awful, and I'm sure as they rise back up through the divisions sooner or later, they'll fix the facilities here. It still holds a whopping 21k people, and deserves to be a better stadium. But if you want to know what it was like to watch Premier League football 20 years ago, you can go here and get a good taste of it. The Tudor Facade out front of Fratton Park is really cool. It's been open since 1898 which is also amazing.

There is very limited parking on matchdays, but it is within easy walking distance of Fratton train station. It holds just over 20,000 people and the fans are very close to the pitch making for a great (and often very loud) atmosphere. All four stands are now covered although, if you are sitting near the front, you may get a little wet on rainy, windy days. The facilities inside the ground are limited - toilets are not great and the food is a bit expensive - but there is a McDonalds and KFC just outside.

I…read morecalled with my friend, who is a Reading supporter and season-card holder, They don't normally do Stadium tours, but the lady on the front desk was very nice, and offered to take my friend and I around the stadium, as long as I didn't mention Reading being relegated (Oops) This is actually quite a nice stadium for a Championship club, named after Sir John Madejski who used to own the club, and is now Co-Chairman and Life President (I believe) The stadium has a capacity of just short of 25,000 so a little smaller than the average Premier League stadium, but pretty average for the Championship really. Aviva Premiership Rugby club, London Irish play here too, in a stadium located in Reading, just off Junction 11 of the M4. The stadium its-self was built and opened in the late 1990's and it is just a single tier on each tier, apart from one side where they is two. Inside the grounds, where you can pick up refreshments, it isn't the nicest of areas, and seemed a little old fashioned compared to other stadiums I have been too, such as The Etihad, St James' Park and Wembley, but it wasn't too bad either, for a Championship club and of course beating Rochdale and Hyde FC. Around the ground they its lots of posters and signs from the club's history, such as their 106 point mark they won the Championship by, the most recent promotion winning team, signed shirts, Trevor Senior's 184 goals etc, if you want to see more take a look at my pictures, they are all nice and colourful, and give the stadium a better feeling and vibe, and a better place for the fan. I was shown in the dressing rooms, somewhat, they weren't too impressive but they were not set out ready for the tour, nothing was, but still the stadium was nice, clean and quiet. I was even ended the tour with a few match programs from past Reading games, and even a historic one. This is a nice stadium, obviously it doesn't compare to most of the other stadiums I have visited, as I have visited a wide range of major stadiums: Wembley, Anfield, The Berneabu, The Nou Camp, Allianz Arena etc, and some parts of the stadium were not really impressive, and for a new stadium just felt a little old fashioned. The staff were really nice in offering me the tour though and shown me around what they could, and I can't fault that but still I feel I can only give a solid 3 stars as the stadium wasn't really impressive, and was merely average for a team like Reading.
