Tucked behind Ascension Lutheran Church in…read morePalos Verdes, it's a screen-free, joy-forward haven where kids like my son Everest and daughter Flora get to be kids -- outside, unplugged, wildly creative, and supported by a community of genuinely wonderful humans. The school uses the Reggio Emilia approach, which basically means the kids are encouraged to follow their curiosity, work together, and learn by doing. And the teachers? Rockstars. Pam, Monica, Lydia, Dulce, and Sandy are this amazing mix of fun and structure -- playful and loving, but never chaotic. They let the kids explore freely, while also guiding them with intention and care. The whole thing is captained by Mr. Jose, who has this quiet, thoughtful leadership style that keeps everything running with heart and purpose. As parents, we get to be part of the magic too. I've played music for the kids (lots of laughs, maybe a few off-key singalongs), and our whole family helped with the school garden -- dirt under the nails, smiles all around. My wife even serves on the teacher/parent committee, and it's clear this place really values that home-to-school connection. And then there's Pastor Scott, who runs Ascension Lutheran Church with the kind of open-minded warmth you don't always expect from a church. The kids are gently introduced to Christian values and stories in a way that feels natural, not preachy. It's about kindness, curiosity, and letting them find their own path -- which, as a parent, feels like a breath of fresh air. World of Wonder is just that -- a wonder. A rare, beautiful blend of nature, community, creativity, and care. If you're looking for a preschool that nurtures the whole child (and makes you want to stick around and dig in the dirt with them), this is the spot.

Prefer let your suicidal kid alone than refunding your deposit…read more We were interested to this pre school and signed up for a parents kid summer program where the parents comment with their less than 18 months Kid one morning per week . We were push to quickly sign up because places were limited. We signed up online . And had to accepts lot of T&c to pay. So we paid $500 in May and sing up for July program. In the meantime One of the teenager we care for intended suicide . We contacted the pre school and told them we have a family situation we can no longer attend the summer program for our 16 months kids because we would stay home and take care of the teenagers and the baby and didn't want to let a suicidal teenager alone. We told them so in June , 10 days before that parent kid program even started. ( please note it's a parent kid program so they are not even a ratio per teacher or so ) . Supposedly somewhere in there T&C was written that was a non refundable program. We have not seen a like about that. We called our credit card out a stop on the charge but this preschool still went ahead and validate the charge. We also paid a $250 for Waite list to have a space in September that they cancelled. And refund $200 of it. We paid a total of $750 to these people for our toddler to never get in. Be aware when signing up for a toddler parents summer program they will push to buy quickly and asap and then your money is gone and not refundable . I understand they was some transaction and admin work but a descend business could have at least give a partial refund of the summer parent kid progress. They clearly don't care about you your family or kid and just want the $. Congratulations chalk preschool on making $550 on the back of a kid you will never seen.

This school has been nothing short of transformative for her development. From the moment we joined the PMS community, it was clear this was a special place. The authentic Montessori environment has allowed her to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. She has learned to follow her own curiosity, work both independently and collaboratively with her peers, and manage her emotions in a supportive setting. The passion for learning is palpable the moment you step into a classroom; the children are engaged, focused, and genuinely proud of their work. Our daughter loves going to school every single day, which is the greatest testament we can offer. Beyond the classroom, the Montessori Parents Association (MPA) hosts incredible events that weave magic into the school year. These events build such a strong sense of community and create unforgettable memories for the students, making their elementary years truly special. We are so grateful to have found Peninsula Montessori. It has provided an unparalleled foundation for our daughter, fostering a joy for learning that we know will stay with her for life. We cannot recommend this school highly enough.

My son has made leaps and bounds progress and is reading cvc words at age 4! And cleaning up after himself! My elder son habituated well to the school in Ms. Jen's class and is making great progress with the lower elementary teachers. The school offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and I really like the special events - harvest festival, international festival, etc. I'd give this school 15 stars if I could!

But this time we do feel the urge to review and recommend Discovery World, the best childcare and preschool in South Bay Area! We originally toured DW in 2022 when our daughter was 18 months old. But because of their waitlist at that time, we decided to go to another daycare in this area. A huge mistake we really wish we hadn't made (a terrible experience for our little one and us parents too. We had to pull her out there after only one month). Fortunately our baby was able to join DW in 2023/08. Everything is different here. Experienced teachers, friendly staff, fun activities, and so much more! What really impressed us and drew contrast to other preschool is, how loving and caring everyone is at DW. Our daughter was shy at drop off. Every morning, the teachers (thank you Ms. Julie and Ms. Iana) would come greet her and hug her to help her ease into the classroom!!! Every teacher and staff knows every child very well, chats and plays with them. Teachers from different classrooms all learn about every student's hobbies (thanks Ms. Marni for reading "panda book" to our baby) and even their stuffie (they know the names of my daughter's TY "Jenni" kitties:-)). DW communicates with parents all the time (photos and videos every day, several teacher-parent conferences every year). DW offers great curriculum and the teacher execute very well. And DW organize the best activities (playing basketball at The LAB is my daughter's favorite). There are so much more to say about DW... We can't thank you enough Ms. Liana and your whole DW team for the amazing work in our little ones' early education!!!

Discovery World was such a blessing during his earliest years; he thrived and had wonderful relationships with all his teachers, who always took sincere interest in his well-being and development. They communicated with us often and were always more than happy to give us updates and anecdotes about his day. Discovery World also prepared him well for the move to "real" school, working with him on academic development (e.g., recognizing letters and numbers) and on social development (e.g., articulating feelings and resolving conflict). We've been so happy with Discovery World that we got our daughter on the waitlist before she was born. She's now attending as well, and whenever we pick her up our son's former teachers always ask about him. We're grateful to have found such a wonderful place for our children to spend their preschool years and very much appreciate the thoughtfulness and dedication of the Discovery World teachers and staff.

She started right when she turned two, and she has learned so much every day socially and cognitively. What sets this preschool apart is how well it prepares kids for kindergarten. It offers one of the strongest early education programs out there. The student-to-teacher ratio is impressively low compared to other preschools, which is essential for individualized attention. Plus, the school is spacious, with at least three playgrounds, giving kids plenty of room to play and explore. Parking and traffic are barely ever an issue, which makes drop-off and pick-up so much easier. If you're looking for a preschool that genuinely sets your child up for success in elementary school, I highly recommend this one! You don't have to be a resident of PV to attend.

The staff and teachers at Mela are not only highly professional but also incredibly nurturing, patient, and genuinely passionate about early childhood education. The environment at Mela is safe, vibrant, and thoughtfully designed to encourage creativity, learning, and emotional growth. What truly sets Mela Preschool apart is the level of trust we've built with every member of the team. Their communication, care, and attention to detail gave us complete peace of mind. We could not have asked for a better place to begin our child's educational journey. Without a doubt, Mela Preschool is one of the best in the nation. We are beyond grateful for the experience and recommend it wholeheartedly to any parent looking for a nurturing, high-quality preschool. You'll love it--and more importantly, so will your child!.

We were looking for a school that was safe, had caring and knowledgeable teachers, would give our child the foundation to excel in the future and of course somewhere that was fun for our boy. The curriculum offers various subject studies in the month. I love hearing about the continents, dinosaurs, states, animals, cultures, the pledge of allegiance and so much more. They offer gymnastics class, Spanish lessons and music lessons-so fun! I'm constantly impressed and blown away . They also practice practical life. Each child has a job-wiping tables, turning the lights off, rolling up the mat/rug, helper of the day, etc. Both my child and I have made lifelong friendships and met some amazing families. These children are being prepared for school and life. I'm beyond confident that he will be ready for kindergarten and we are sad to go after 2 years. Take a tour and fall in love like I did.
