We absolutely love Tuvia Preschool. All three of our children have attended, and it truly feels like a home away from home. The teachers, staff, and administrators are incredibly loving, caring, and communicative, and we feel so lucky to be part of this community. One of the most special parts of Tuvia has been the relationships we've built. Many of our closest family friendships started through the school, and there is such a warm, welcoming sense of community among the families. The playground is amazing with so much space for the kids to run, play, and explore. We also really appreciate the constant updates and communication from the school, which makes parents feel connected and informed. Tuvia does a beautiful job instilling strong Jewish values while also being inclusive and welcoming to all families. I enrolled my son in Tuvia Preschool when he was 2.5 years old. Although we weren't members, the program checked all the boxes for us: close to home, a half-day schedule, strong security, and reasonably priced. Before Tuvia, we had him in another local preschool that looked beautiful on the surface but something just wasn't right. He cried and clung to us at drop-off every single day for an entire year. It was heartbreaking and made us question everything. The difference at Tuvia was immediate. By the middle of his first week, the tears were gone. He genuinely looked forward to going and even told us how much happier he was compared to his old school. The program itself is fantastic. Parents receive regular updates and photos through an app, which we really appreciated. It feels like a true school experience, with structured activities like PE, music, and even performances that the kids participate in. They also do a lot of hands-on activities--like mixing and baking their own muffins and cookies--which is possible because they have their own kitchen. It's those little touches that really stand out. What truly sets Tuvia apart, though, is the teachers. They are incredibly attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in the kids. It never feels like they're just supervising. They truly care. One of our initial concerns was whether we would fit in since we're not Jewish, but that quickly disappeared. The school does a beautiful job of honoring its traditions while remaining inclusive and welcoming to everyone. There's also a strong sense of community that you can feel right away. Our two sons attended Tuvia and both absolutely loved it! It is a wonderfully warm community where everyone knows everyone - you can feel it when you walk through the door! With recent upgrades to fencing, parking lot & downstairs corridor it's really looking very sharp and new. The school itself is very well run with amazing management, caretaking staff and educators. My experience with Tuvia left a little to be desired. I noticed that the kids in the yard were insufficiently supervised by staff. There were occasions where some of the kids played to rough which could have caused some of the kids to be needlessly injured and staff did little or nothing about it. I think more safeguards need to be applied. read more

One of the hardest things young families ever have endure is sending their dearest one to daycare/preschool. It's hard enough being apart from them, hoping they are getting enough stimulation and care...imagine adding the worry of their physical well-being, which is what happened to us at another care center in the area. Needless to say I pulled them out late in the year and Tuvia welcomed us with open arms. We are not Jewish but that didn't matter, all are welcome! They do teach religious lessons, but, all have the general message of being kind, being grateful, right from wrong, changing the world for the better, and the added bonus, my kiddos are picking up a little Hebrew in the process ;) The child/teacher ratio is low, so I've never been concerned as to wether my kids have enough eyes on them. They constantly stimulate the kids with new ways of learning and fresh interesting ideas to keep them engaged; baking, gardening, building, singing etc. During the school year, they have their core curriculum and the kids start the day with writing before lessons. There is a wonderful sense of community here and I really believe the teachers genuinely care for my kids. I have to drag them out at home time, but not before giving hugs to their teachers! I used to worry for my kids safety, if they were sad or lonely during the day. Wether they ate enough, if they were too cold or hot. I know now that thoughts like that are unacceptable. And if you're feeling that way, somethings wrong and it's time to make a change. Maybe it's a coincidence, but my kids were constantly sick in our last daycare. I've almost retired our inhaler since coming here. They're happier, so I'm happier. I often struggle with guilt, and sometimes wonder if they would be happier at home...then Tuvia goes and brings a full scale petting zoo on to the property! I may be a good Mother, but I sure as sugar don't have pigs and goats in my inventory ;) Oh, did I mention, massive playground! read more

We were so lucky to find Tuvia for preschool. We have twins and preschool was daunting and scary for us. Katie Kang, the director of the school is extremely personable and she is always concerned with knowing who all the children are and their parents. Being our first experience with preschool we had a lot of questions and concerns and Katie was always happy to answer them. I was so impressed that they spent so much time getting our little ones ready for their first big day (they were two), Miss Cilia came to our home and spent nearly two hours getting to know them and letting them get comfortable with her. She has been so great about giving us news about our kids' well being and how they're doing. The school sends photos through their app to show you what the kids are doing throughout the day. The whole staff is really lovely, they always handle the children with care and know their little quirks, like my kids love to hop into school. I never have any doubt that they'll be in a loving environment and its so encouraging to hear how my kids are behaving when I'm not there! The school also treats their staff well as we previewed other preschools where the turnover seemed higher and the staff wasn't as enthusiastic (which I only noticed because we went to several before deciding) The parents at this school have also been really nice and it seems like everyone is very open to volunteering and being open with one another. This was important to me, as I'm not Jewish so I was a little afraid we would be out of the loop. As for the covid protocols they have been very cautious and all of the kids and staff wore, and continue to wear masks. My kids were fine got them used to wearing it all the time, and they pull the masks on and off by themselves. The staff was really good about helping kids get used to them and let you know that if your child had problems they would work with them. My kids are three now and wear them for hours at time with no complaint when we're out on our own family adventures. Overall, I'm really satisfied with out experience with Tuvia, and am looking forward to our kids being there for as long as possible. read more

Finding Tuvia has been such a blessing for our family. We relocated to the area in the middle of the pandemic, feeling like we knew very little about the local community, much less what we would do for our 2 year old's schooling. In a few short weeks, we've watched our daughter blossom, her language and social development have skyrocketed. And after being in isolation with the pandemic, we are so grateful she's been able to adjust into such a fun, loving community. My 2.5 year old daughter has been attending Tuvia since August of 2022, and we have absolutely loved our experience there. She has learned so much and we can tell how happy she is, and how loved she feels there. The teachers are incredibly attentive and caring; they have the perfect balance of being warm and nurturing while also encouraging the little ones to be more independent and learn age appropriate tasks. The communication is great-teachers and administrators use the Bright wheel app to send private messages, update information such as toilet usage and nap times, as well as post adorable pictures and videos. Another great perk is the enrichment activity they provide (music & movement) and you can also opt in and pay a little extra for things such as soccer, dance, gymnastics, karate and music. The school has a great warm community feel which I think is enriched by it being part of the Temple. Being an interfaith family, I think people who aren't Jewish will still feel very comfortable and welcomed, and those who are Jewish will likely enjoy the extra opportunities to connect to the local Jewish community, traditions, etc... My wife and I have had our kids at Tuvia for 2 years and we love it there. It was definitely difficult during COVID to have kids in school and not be able to have the typical experience, but they really went the distance to make sure we felt good about having our kids there. The teachers have been excellent, and they are like an extended family for our kids. The play yard is super fun with mature trees and lots of things for the kids to do, including a "mud kitchen!" They also go on field trips to Wilderness Park across the street which we like. Although it is associated with Temple Menorah, there is no requirement to be Jewish and there a plenty of non-Jewish families that send their kids too. If you're looking for a preschool, it is definitely worth a look. read more

This preschool goes above and beyond what you would expect from a preschool. My daughter just finished her first year there, and I have nothing but utmost appreciation for the genuine warmth, love and support we've received. My daughter loves it there. She's made great friends. In just one year, she's developed great social, problem-solving, and communication skills. She has responded very well to play-based learning in this environment. She comes home talking about what they learned that day (music to my ears). They truly make learning fun. Here are just some highlights I wasn't expecting but was pleasantly surprised with: 1. The teachers stay current with their educational development. 2. The annual parent teacher conferences are very detailed reports of your child's development. 3. They have a parent committee that you are automatically a part of upon enrollment with lots of activities that foster our community (family picnics, moms night out, class outings... just to name a few). 4. Enrichment programs - We've had local dance centers, soccer coaches, yoga, music, and "my gym" this year. 5. The staff to student ratio is super low. 6. You can pick the days your child goes. Options are 3, 4 or 5 days per week. 7. It's very diverse. Everyone is welcome. Jewish or non-Jewish. 8. Oh, and the state of the art playground... Who can forget that? There are so many things for children with different interests to discover in this playground. If I had one negative thing to say, it's that it's hard getting my little one to leave sometimes. Our boys are in their second year at Tuvia and we are very pleased with their and our experiences. It warms our hearts when out of nowhere, one or both of our boys will spontaneously sing a hebrew song they learned at school. When we were researching and visiting preschools, it was important to us that the boys attend a school that was safe with a nurturing environment. Tuvia met these criteria, and the bonus for us was that they taught Jewish holidays, values and themes. We knew we found the right place for our boys when we saw the playground; a giant sand box, art easels, tire swing and track for riding tricycles all around. The boys have grown and developed under this tutelage and supervision in immeasurable ways, and we are so happy that we stumbled upon Tuvia and Temple Menorah. We love Tuvia! All of the teachers and staff genuinely care for their students. They go above and beyond with their programming, such as gardening, cooking, yoga, and a music and movement class. They often bring in special programs, like a petting zoo, puppet shows, etc. My daughter started at two. We had never left her with anyone before. Miss Cilia is so knowledgeable, loving, and supportive. They also increase their staff if the class size grows; the teacher-to-student ratio is always small. I like that my daughter has a relationship with all of the teachers and older kids, too. I also love their app; I often get pictures and videos of my daughter having fun throughout the day! We are not Jewish, and love the diversity of the school and the universal lessons that are taught. It is more than a preschool -- it is a community. My son has flourished and thrived at Tuvia School for 2 1/2 years... I liked the vibe of the school as soon as I entered the doors. The classrooms are open, bright and colorful each one with a cool loft area for imaginative play. The playground is really cool with new updated equipment, a garden, tricycle path and surrounded by lots of trees. There's music classes, yoga, art, science experiments and I love how they take the kids outside to play and explore on rainy days. The student/teacher ratio has been consistently ideal since my son started at Tuvia. I believe one of the main reasons my son has done so well is that he has received the 1:1 attention he needed especially when it came to pre-k reading and writing readiness and learning to read and write this year in Kinder. My son adores the teachers and staff. His current teacher Ms. Christine is wonderful and he still runs up to his former teachers to say hi and give a big hug. My experience as a parent has been just as great. The director of the school Katie Kang is literally amazing. She goes above and beyond the call of duty in so many ways and has made it a point to meet the specific needs of my son and our family. The app the school uses has made it easy to communicate and stay on top of what's going on. Plus, I get pictures and videos almost daily of my son. There is a strong sense of community at Tuvia. I really feel they value their responsibility in helping us parents raise good humans. My son came home from school the other day telling me all the ways he was being "mindful"! Regarding Covid - Tuvia has done an impeccable job at staying pro-active since the onset of the Pandemic, staying on top of all protocols and guidelines. My son is learning so much at Tuvia. He comes home everyday with something new he has learned. The staff here is phenomenally supportive and communicative. We can't say enough amazing things about Tuvia! Every teacher truly cares about the kids and make each student feel so loved, comfortable, and attentively taken care of. It took us a very long time to find the right school because no other school upon touring gave us the same sense of security/loving atmosphere that Tuvia has. There are rules and boundaries but not so much as to restrict the children's play and curiosity. My child has grown so much here both academically and socially. My husband and I chose to send our first child to Tuvia Preschool 6 years ago. Our second daughter followed 3 years later, and now our youngest child is going into his last year there. We love it! We learned about the preschool from our affiliation with the Temple (Temple Menorah). I toured other preschools in the area (Jewish and non-Jewish) and rated this school highest among our choices. The teachers have a special connection with the students. You can see that they really love our kids. My 3 year old son has been at Tuvia just under 8 months and is thriving! We love the environment, the teachers are, well, the teachers are beyond what any parent could wish for. Some have been there for 25 years -- what does that say about an institution when it can keep its teachers that long? They are loving and kind and patient beyond words. I get texts from his teachers letting me know if he's feeling bad or sad or if he miraculously decided to nap. The first few weeks we were there and I was so worried about leaving him, they were kind enough to send me pictures and videos of what he was doing. Every week they post hundreds of pictures on the private shutterfly page so we can be a part of his daily activities. In previous daycare settings, the teachers complained privately to me about the lack of supplies or being low on staff and therefore activities were limited for the kids. Not here. They must have Michael's on standby for art and classroom needs. Every day I see stickers and poster board and paper and scissors and foam cutouts, you name it. They are making applesauce in class from scratch or like today -- superhero capes from cut up tablecloths and duct tape. I am not a Pinterest mom, so for him to come home covered in homemade playdoh, face paint and everything sticky a little boy could ever want, my heart sings! We are so happy we found Tuvia. I leave him there and don't worry for a moment about his safety, his happiness or his health. No place is perfect, but for me so far, any challenges I have with Tuvia are so immaterial in comparison to the loving, caring, teaching facility that Tuvia embodies. And for those who may not be of the Jewish faith and are tentative about joining because of that, we also are not Jewish. We practice no particular faith. We feel NO pressure at this school to learn or join or practice Judaism. For us, personally, we welcome the chance to learn about other cultures and religions, but that is our own belief system, nothing at all pushed on us through this school. Tuvia and it's COVID offshoot, the Learning Lab, have been the greatest blessing for our family over the past year. Neither my husband nor I could work from home, so we needed a safe, loving place to help our daughter thrive in the time of COVID without the ability to go to her home school or see her friends. The precautions put in place at Tuvia were top notch. The staff was always on top of the newest requirements, proactive in maintaining the cleanliness and environmental standards, provided regular updates on the broadening or tightening of state & local restrictions, and most importantly, offered the kids a place to feel "normal". The "pods" were small, the variety of different areas and possible activities kept them engaged, and the staff was above all caring and loving. They have licensed elementary teachers to support the Distance Learning programs offered by the home district, and are able to manage the asynchronous aspect of the day. My 2nd grader was kept organized, and has excelled in her classwork. She has also had FUN, which I do not think can be emphasized enough. They encourage creativity and self expression, and the play based model has allowed for some truly excellent adventures that I don't think my daughter will ever forget. My son Sebastian attended Kindergarden at Tuvia last year and absolutely loved it! Mrs. Lauren is an excellent teacher who not only taught the curriculum but open their minds to other fun and deep knowledge. Lots of interesting field trips, fun homework , etc... Sebastian wanted to go to school everyday and didn't like being late! That tells me a lot. My son has been at Tuvia for a year and a half and we are very happy there. Even at a young age, he has made lasting friendships with his classmates who he looks forward to seeing on a daily basis. We had a horrible experience at this school. They are letting three and four year old boys wrestle and punch each other on the playground and the reactions from the teacher and the Managing Supervisor were "boys will be boys" and "yes, they do play rough" and "well, we stop them when they punch, but they do pull each other to the ground and fight." These are very small children and it is absolutely unacceptable. It is also a huge liability for the school if a child does get hurt. There is not enough help in the classrooms. After we complained, our child said his teacher took him into the classroom alone and hit him with a blue plastic shovel. read more

My son has been enrolled at Tuvia for two years. We toured several area preschools and found Tuvia to be the best for many reasons. Their facility (including a newly renovated playground) is wonderful for kids - classrooms are open, bright, and organized; the aforementioned playground is up-to-date, safe, and has lots of options for play and exploration. The staff is just amazing. Every single teacher knew my kid's name within the first week of school and they are all so kind, interested, and eager to help him, including the office staff. My son loves every single teacher/staff in the school. The synagogue's rabbi and cantor interact with the students on a regular basis. My son also attends Tuvia's summer camp and has a blast - water play, imaginative play, weekly themes, and more. Lastly, if you are looking for a Jewish preschool that teaches Jewish holidays, themes, and values in a progressive setting, this is a wonderful choice. I felt very panicky when it was time to find a preschool. It's very important to me to know that people are listening to my daughter and respecting her boundaries. Before we started, I got to stay with her a whole day. It was very reassuring to watch how the teachers interacted with my daughter and the other kids. I always feel safe leaving my daughter at preschool. She loves going there. She gets to paint everyday (because that's her thing ;-) and she comes home singing the songs she learns at Tuvia. My kids attended Growing Garden's when we lived in No. Redondo and it was great. When we moved south we switched to Tuvia which I would rate as AMAZING. I'm not Jewish but my hubby is and I feel very comfortable there (as a parent). My children's experience was and continues to be very positive. For example every morning during the parent drop off time, the teachers set out inventive and fun crafts for the kids to explore. One morning they even created "snow" using bubbles, cut-out snowflakes, and music. It was so cute, the kids had a big box of hats and scarves and were busy dressing up. My little one jumped right in. Another positive sign is the teachers have been there forever. They are career educators and the love they have for the job and kids shows. read more

My two children are currently enrolled at Tuvia, one in the two year old class, and one in the Kindergarten class. School is warm and the teachers and staff are enthusiastic and creative. I am blown away by how much my children are learning. The other day my daughter said she could write a cartoon character's name on the TV. My son has been attending preschool at Tuvia for a little over one year now and he loves it! He started a few months after his 2nd birthday and it has become a second home for him. The school seems to have a great balance of play and learning (and learning through play). He comes home counting, singing about days of the week and eager to tell me about his friends on the playground. My daughter joined the 2 year old class in September. It has been a big adjustment for her and the entire staff has been incredibly supportive. Her teachers amazing in every way. What makes me feel secure, is that the entire Tuvia staff knows my child and works closely with the 2 of us. She is very active and has a bit of a temper. They handle her behavior with love and positive reinforcement. Additionally, there is a huge emphasis on education. She brings home an abundance of new behavioral and academic skills. My partner and I visited dozens of preschools in the Southbay and West LA area and Tuvia felt right from the get-go. Some highlights about the school include: 1.The facilities and outdoor play area are spacious and engaging. 2. The teachers love what they do and take great care of the children. 3. This is a great play-based school that exposes the children to academics but does not force them if they are not ready. 4. We are a multi-racial/cultural/religious family and feel welcomed and at ease with the teachers, parents and staff. Although this is a Jewish facility the actual classrooms are diverse and all cultures are welcomed! 5. The school offers a number of enrichment classes (some free and some you have to pay extra for). 6. Tuvia is more than just a preschool it is a community; there are a number of Tuvia as well as Temple Menorah activities every month that one can choose to participate in even if you are not a temple member. read more
