I went in the Farmer's Market first. It looks like an old barn. There were lots and lots of homemade choices- "canned" soup bases, fruits, vegetables, salsas, jams, flavored oils to name a few. There were also fresh fruits, nuts, honey, vegetables, dairy products and cakes. There are four areas you can eat. The main "restaurant" is small with only a few tables. Evidently it's a favorite of older local gentlemen to gather for an early breakfast. There is also the "Pig Sty," "The Chicken Coop" and the farmer's market area. Some of these can be cold in the winter and warm in the summer so dress accordingly. The farmer's market area is heated by a wood stove. The staff here are so friendly. It felt like we were visiting family. The food was good ole country food. The hubby and I each ordered the breakfast plate. I had coffee with my choice of several flavored creamers. If you pay in cash you get a discount. If you are in the area you should check it out. You can order from the breakfast or lunch menu. We found this strange because we were there minutes after they opened and the other couple had received their meal. After waiting 1 hour, we had enough and were standing up to leave when our meals arrived. The orders were all mixed up and 3 sides were missing. In my last visit, the Mac and Cheese was very good. On this visit, they were cold with cheese shreds sitting on top. They were taken back to the kitchen and microwaved. This turned them into a complete, uneatable pile of mush with a foul-tasting cheese oil slick on top. The owner came over and once again, we heard "sorry" and he used the take-out orders as the excuse. We spoke to the server and told her we wanted them to comp the meals. Off she went to speak with the owner. During this time, the couple sitting behind us were talking and he mentioned he has had his sandwich many times from many places and this one was the worse one he had ever had. The manager came over again and offered to buy us all desert. We thought at least he was trying but when we tried to order any of the 4 different types of cheese cake they offer, we were informed they had been out of them for 3 days. She came back and said we would receive a 15% discount which was an insult due to the food and service. I asked to see the manager again and I talked him into a 50% discount after hearing "sorry" about 8 times and the take-out excuse again. This is the first restaurant I have ever had to barter with the owner over lousy meals. From other reviews, I am glad many other people have had a positive experience, but after giving them a second chance, none of us will be going back.
