What a great place. Service by Julie was top notch, friendly and personable. We ordered CFS and Fried Shrimp. Food came quick, hot and very tasty. The atmosphere is awesome within this old storefront. Loved the whiskey barrels under the bar. Nice family atmosphere for lunch. Will return and highly recommend. read more

Good place to do a quick meal. Local dive in Elberton Ga. It was a pool room many years ago. Food is a hit or Miss but generally good.

TERRIBLE value for the money: 2 mushroom/cheese hamburgers, onion rings, tater tots, a brownie and one sweet tea: $51. Repeat: FIFTY-ONE DOLLARS. My hamburger didn't even come with lettuce or tomato. Will not be going back, for sure. read more

This was a spur of the moment try for this restaurant and I'm glad that I went to this place. It kinda has a bar/pub kind of feel. They serve American-type food as well as lunch items. I had the chicken finger basket with their own Melton chips. They are their own version of the potato chips and was so delicious! Our server was nice and prompt with our refills, etc. I will come back to this place. read more

My buddies I were looking for a place to eat after coming from the Tuesday Practice Round at the Masters & we were renting a cabin in Fair Play, SC so while driving back we decided to map search restaurants on the way back & Richards showed up. When we got there although we weren't dressed like the regulars meaning we had our golf attire on they still treated us warm & kindly. We sat down in front of a TV with a baseball going as we are avid sports fans & ordered our steaks. The food was good but it was the warm service that got me. Went on a slow night, waitress was more concerned with "regulars", waited quite some time for our food, another server dropped it off and prior to that our waitress asked if we needed a refill on sweet tea as well as a table next to us, our drink was never refilled despite her being 5 feet away with the tea filling the other tables drink. I ordered the fried shrimp plate and chips. I received tiny frozen fried shrimp that was not cooked all the way thru and took a few bites of, our waitress never came back so I didn't have an opportunity to say anything other than when we went to pay out, but even then the woman checking us out barely murmured a word other than "you were at that table right?" I walked out smelling like horrible gas station fried food. Was very disappointed and will most likely not be back. I hope this was an off night for them, but I doubt it. This place seemed to favor regulars and no one was very hospitable. read more

I wanted to like this place but have to give it a 1 star. I would give it zero but could not on the app. My husband and I ate here on a steak special night. It was terrible. We waited an hour for our food . My steak was very tough and raw on the sides overcooked in the center. It was loud and crowded. The server was nice and kept apologizing for the poor service " because somebody called in sick ". We saw the cook - owner repeatedly go towards the bathroom and return carrying frozen hamburger patties in his arms. He was not wearing gloves and put the meat against his dirty apron and shirt. I am surprised Mecole Hardman allows the restaurant to use his name to sell burgers there. They have a burger called the Mecole Burger. Poor Mecole. I wonder if he knows. Don't eat here. read more

We were in town to teach a class and received the best and quickest service we could have asked for. The food was amazing and the service was phenomenal. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely plan to eat our suppers here! 10/10, HIGHLY recommend. read more

My sister and I ate lunch there yesterday February 2. The food was very good, the drinks not so much. I recommend a Coke or diet Coke in the bottle. We were the only two people in the entire restaurant with a mask on. Not the waitress, not the cooks, not even the other customers. That concerns me. read more

The negative reviews about this place are basically solely focused on the staff socializing. They love to talk to their customers and are very personable. Just don't come there if you're in a hurry. If you need a drink or something, just tell them.. it's a small restaurant they'll probably hear you if you talk loud enough. They'll cook your food however you want them to. If you bring in your own spices, they'll put it in your food for you. The Richards burger is amazing. My family and I eat there quite often, and we will continue to eat there in the future. read more

We just had lunch there. Food was okay. Wait staff was loud and kept hollering back and forth and socializing. We felt as if we were intruding. Decidedly unpleasant atmosphere. Bojangles would have been better and more professional. read more

In the 5 years since my last review, Richards has made a number of changes resulting in much better service. They've kept a number of their best servers for years and trained their new servers, and the customer now seems to be their top priority. The food has always been delicious and the restaurant is a nice comfortable place. Poor service several years ago left a bad taste, but I'm glad I gave them another chance. I'd recommend the burger and Melton chips. I have to give credit where credit is due. read more

I was told this is the best non-chain place in town to grab a bite and while it's nothing spectacular, it's got a certain small town vibe to it. The Melton Chips that came with my burger were pretty good and the homebaked desserts seemed pretty legit as well. read more

Me and my husband have never gone to Richards until today. We found our seat at 5:00 p.m. ordered our drink and ask a few questions. By 5:10 we had our order placed with waitress. We watched people come and go during this time. At 5:40 I saw another group get their food...and this happened over and over. I caught the attention of another waitress and said, " where is our food?" She politely checked and refilled our drinks. At 5:50 The black glasses, long haired, half masked waitress came and apologized and said, "in all the mix up at 5 she forgot to press send to our order". She also said she would give us 50% off because we had to wait. We said oh, ok. So when you make a mistake that bad wouldn't my order go next? Hmmm...didn't happen. Then at 5:15 a large group entered. My husband got a small salad. He ate it. Two other waitresses ask if we were ok. What do you say? 5:26 the table with large group got their appetizers and salads. That was the last straw after waiting 1.5 hours for fried flounder and country fried steak. Poor service. I don't think anyone in management knew there was any kind of screw up like this. While working in Elberton I went in to Richards and had dinner and was very pleased with the atmoshere and the service.This is a family oriented eatery and your satisfaction is paramount.I spent over 3 months working in this beautiful town and ate at Richards every night that it was opened and always had a good experience.So if you are ever in Elberton bring your family in and have a good time and good food everyone is so friendly and kind Southern charm is alive and well at Richards. read more
