Flashback to the Summer of 2006…read more....... I enrolled with one of my dogs in Lezle Stein's basic obedience class, it was a 6-week course I don't recall the exact price but it was about $20-$25 per class, I'd say a little on the pricy side. Lezle while a nice person tends to ramble on about how she works with different animal shelters to rescue dogs, "which is a great thing" BUT it's not what I'm paying you money to hear!. I appreciate those who want to rescue dogs, adopt from the shelter BUT it's NOT for everybody!... don't preach to me how I should Neuter my Pure Breed dog, I'm a responsible dog owner and it's my business what I want to do!. Oh, did I mention how she likes to talk, talk, talk, talk useless nonsense eating up your hour of learning time. At the end of the 6-week course you get a cheesy certificate of graduation, unfortunately your dog will not know all the proper obedience commands, I was disappointed, thought it was a waste of my time and money. http://www.pasanita.com this is the way to go!

I took Dee to Puppy Wuppy, and her progress was amazing! Calmer, obedient, and loves to be there. Their instruction is easy to follow, and to apply at home. Our rescue was already a great, well-behaved dog, but she had some counter surfing habits from her prior life experience and we also wanted to prepare her to become a therapy dog. She learned the foundations of all the basics we expected during that two weeks, and Erin showed us how to keep consistent with her at home. Things are going great and we can't recommend GS K9 enough! I am sure all the trainers are great but we are partial to Erin as she really has a great personality for this, she is energetic and connected really well with our dog. Our dog is continuing to learn at home! We will be back for additional programs. :)

This now opened more doors for him which we had him signed up for GDC training and sent to him off to train further with their top trainer. After completing his training for a month he was brought home by his trainer, and we were trained on how to continue on how he was trained repetitively. We discussed further training with his trainer that day about guard dog training, and he agreed that he would train him further and to call for scheduling. Now this is where things go not good. We have called multiple times to schedule with his trainer and we were told that they would get back to us. They did not get back to us and several weeks went by. We called again speaking with Lauren who assured me that they would call me back about guard dog training because she needed to speak with the owners about the schedule. No phone call was returned from her. So we called again and spoke with Danielle who informed that they were not doing any guard dog training, and they don't know when they will again! This is a K9 training facility that does all types of training! Why are we now being told that you Don't train for guard dogs when our personal trainer who had our pup at his training facility and trained him told us that you do? Then I asked if they could recommend another facility that trained for guard training and we were told that they would email several recommendations to us. Again they didn't send us any emails referring us to other facilities! Why after being with Garden State K9, and bringing our pup to their facility for training for months to graduate the S.T.A.R. Program so he could continue on working with this facility that trained for everything we were told by the way. As well as seen Private sessions with our trainer before we had our pup trained by him. On top of the Thousands of Dollars we have paid this facility and we never had a single problem. So we don't understand why they have treated us like this after so long training with them? We had no issues paying their fees for training and we would have gladly continued to pay for his training advancement fees. This is why we are Not sure as a rating. We gave 3 Stars for their great training. They lost 2 Stars because they treated us poorly we feel. We worked on 2-3 commands per session (total of 4 sessions) and Samantha gave us about 2 weeks to work on them before the next lesson which was a good amount of time to really practice with my dog. When it became obvious that muzzling, scolding and isolation only escalated his unruly excitability, I reached out to Happy Dog Training (Samantha Cordon) for help. Learning to reward Lucky's good manners with positive reinforcement while introducing calming techniques has created a respectful bond between us and a more pleasant atmosphere for our family and guests. Samantha's patient demeanor and true understanding of canine behavior as well as her useful recommendations -- including links to informative literature, tips/exercises and solution-related products -- were an extremely effective mix for shaping our crazed, 16-month-old, 80-pound housemate into a lovable, work-in-progress. The favorable outcome of Samantha's methods made such an impact on our family that I am planning to follow up with a refresher session in a few months as a means to prevent a backslide with my being consistent, and more optimistically -- demonstrate the success of our polite pup.

When we started training with her, our dog was jumping and nipping, guarding chew toys and other objects, and barking and lunging at other dogs when we walked. We were on the verge of giving up. She assessed him and our home and gave us tips on how to help him manage his impulses and how to better communicate with him so that he could understand what we wanted. He has an almost-perfect recall now. He walks calmly on the leash. He responds to the command, "sit" when he starts to jump. He is a more relaxed and cooperative member of our household now. What an amazing transformation! We work with Leah primarily via video which has been surprisingly effective. I highly recommend Born to Be Dog Training.

Charging the $150 cash for the 5-minute dog evaluation before deciding what level of class is applicable to my dog was a clear indication that this dog trainer is not about the dog but simply about how to get more money from the dog's parents.

Nancy worked with us and within a week it was like we had a completely different dog. She not only reversed the bad behavior, but gave us the tools we needed to continue to improve his skills and obedience. I love the positive reinforcement she gives, and that she simplifies the training process, so that is truly is something that we feel capable of doing our own. She takes the time to really get to know your dog, and your family (for example we have 2 young kids), customizes her training to your needs, and explain the thought process behind her techniques. My husband and I literally stood with our jaws dropped watching in disbelief as our previously hyper dog sit patiently as she put the leash on, and then stayed perfectly still as she put a treat on his paw and told him to "Leave it"... it was UNBELIEVABLE. Working with Nancy is one of the best things we've done for our dog, and really for our family since we are enjoying the time with our furry one so much more now. Nancy has been an incredible resource, and always quick to answer texts or emails with questions we have. We can't say enough good things about how impressed we are with Best in Behavior!
