Mercy showed us to the garage where we stowed our bicycles. We had been traveling on the Ohio to Erie Trail and this was quite the destination. A mansion with splendor and charm. The whole place exudes a loving care and is just out of this world loaded with charm. When you stay here, try to book the "Master Suite". If I ever find myself back in Akron I am making a beeline for this place. Thank you so very much for a warm and welcoming visit.

It's fun to hear about the history of the house and see all of the wonderful rooms! A Christmas party was underway during our stay. So we stayed in the family suite which at one time was the cooks, chauffeur and housekeepers quarters. Three bedrooms and a nice sitting room. We were welcome to use the bright and beautiful breakfast room too while the party was underway at the other end of the house in the dining room. Gayle is so kind and helpful and makes a delicious gourmet breakfast, with great coffee! We welcomed from the moment we arrived to when we left!

MOUSE DROPPINGS IN ONE OF THE BEDS IN THE AM. My daughter / son in law woke up to this in their bed an by their head, and immediately checked out and got a hotel. The rest of us stuck it out as we were so busy with family/wedding stuff and I had paid $1761.62 for 2 nights. I could have lived with all of it until the mouse droppings. And I also found out that another room found a single mouse dropping in their bed but did not say anything so as not to stress name out worse. I called same day we checked out and got home, only for her to tell us since we did not call on Friday night, it was our choice to have a bad weekend. Also insinuated we were lying about the mouse droppings. I have pictures. My daughter/son in law packed and went to a hotel. Waking up to this was disgusting. The owner wrote back and said "the caterer forgot to clean out the fridge, the musty is because the house needed to be aired out, and she has never seen mouse droppings on "any clean surface"" So she admits all of this but does not even offer a single "im sorry for the inconvenience, or We will address this immediately". Nope, Its our fault. If she would have stood by her customers and had a professional, adult conversation, I would not be going this route.

The terraces were lovely -Loved the on site restaurant being so easy to access -Towels/washcloths were plentiful and comfy Cons: -Room has a definite musty smell from water damage somewhere. All of my stuff smells musty after the visit -Hot water in a room for 4 people ran out after 2, and was luke warm for the first two. Shower head is cheap and atrocious -Breakfast order was wrong every morning despite filing out the google form as clearly as possible. The form needs revamped to be specific for each guest as existing form was clearly confusing for the kitchen / kitchen does not know how to follow instructions. We had a clear allergy that was disregarded and mixed in with the gluten free guest resulting in frustration and allergen exposure -Restaurant was good but over priced for the quality/type of food. For what we spent, a bread appetizer should be complimentary. Server was nice but hard to get her to stop at our table. $100 pre tip is a lot for a bowl of pasta, a steak, a beer, a glass of wine and some fries. -Why is it so hard to get bottled water? Requests with our breakfast were ignored, and I ended up going to get a pitcher of water from the restaurant

There is also a lovely little electric sauna which did the job. Be aware there are not full amenities here such as showers or other bath items, but there is a sauna shower where you can get a spritz. There is wine, champagne and cheese/charcuterie boards for purchase, and complimentary hot chocolate, coffee and orange peel infused water. Taryn the spa manager was welcoming and friendly. Weekday pricing was very reasonable. My only gripe was the peculiar sitting area, with a motley crew of decor. But that's a minor oversight for what was otherwise a perfect day. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Geneva on the lake.

Now it is dusty and musty: the shine is no more here. The wallpaper in my suite was coming loose, pink grime and dust on the bathroom grout and corners, unpleasant odor from the toilet plumbing, and unappealing breakfast! The TV remote and channels were from decades past. The lukewarm scrambled egg made from powder, heated frozen sausage patties and potatoes not quite warm enough, and some unappealing muffins and doughnut-looking baked goods...I didn't stop to inspect further. Old is okay but unclean is not. Simple food is okay but poor quality food at improper temperature is not. A single fresh fruit is better than a mush blend of dissolving fruit. I thought I was treating myself by booking here.... Can you go buy some real food for tomorrow's breakfast? Please? Pros: Friendly staff, quick service, nice desk and lamps, comfortable furniture and plenty of space in the suite.

It's new, and it's the only B&B in Berea, with the quaint downtown square right around the corner. The owners are quick to respond to any problems, the location is fantastic, the beds are good. Even the *towels* here are top-notch. When I checked to make sure I didn't have down pillows, I found brand new allergy shield pillow covers on high-quality synthetic pillows. When you stay in a B&B in an old Victorian or heritage home, usually that means dealing with a tiny bathroom, undersized shower, and so on; the beautiful old home that houses Riverside Gables was completely renovated in fall 2012, with nice big showers, new fixtures, and new floors. Guests even have a sitting room, with a kitchenette and fridge, Keurig coffee machine, spare dishes, and (my favorite) electric kettle and teapots for tea. Glass bottles of water are kept chilled for the use of the guests, and it was great to have that bottle of water to take to my room (and also not feel like I was wasting a plastic bottle just to have something cold to drink.) There's also a separate back door for guests. Breakfast has been excellent: fruit salad to start, juice, a beautiful omelette the first time I stayed and a Belgian waffle this morning. The owners have a beautiful Golden Retriever, but he is not allowed in the B&B portion of the house. Catherine is lovely to talk to, knowledgeable about the area, and responsive to the needs and preferences of her guests. If business brings me back to the area, I will *definitely* put this place at the top of my list.

The bathrooms are sizable and modern, the bedrooms are cozy and comfortable, plus there's a sitting room if you want to get out of the bedroom. The owners are pleasant and sociable and they've got a friendly Golden Retriever who's quiet and stays out of the guest part of the house. Second best is that they've got both a Tesla wall charger and a J1772 charger for those with electric cars, and the best thing is that you have the delightful Rocky River Valley across the street for driving and recreation.
