the reflection of a woman in a shop window

If I wasn't American, I swear I was British. Ok, so I haven't exactly been to the UK. Details. I'm not here to argue particulars but somehow along life's way, I have always felt this uncanny association and love for British culture, design and London. People occasionally tell me, "You would love it there" or "You dress or act more English than American." Maybe that's just their way of saying get the hell out of America because I'm a dork or something. I hope that's not the case and it's more of my own persona evoking this. I was excited to check out Brits, though I know jack about basic British goods. I'm still learning. But I do find things weighed in grams are always more interesting than things weighed by the pound. British flags hand from the rafters and you'll see English indulgences like Walker's biscuits, Milky Bars and Tyrrell's potato chips. Traditionalists will enjoy a Piccadilly Pork Pie or a collection of teas including Bewley's (Irish favorite) and Amad. The video rental section is eerily pornesque with its location in the back corner of the shop. I chuckled at the notion and continued on with my Milky Bar. It was delicious, only confirming my thoughts for a permanent stay. Bloody Marvelous!

I have been going to the shop for years and it never disappoints. The owner Sally has become almost family to me. Her staff is wonderful as well meeting Maggie day was fabulous! She pointed out her favorites that actually end up being my favorites as well! They all know their products perfectly! And they're wonderful products as well. I love the orange marmalade, crackers & teas!! But truly everything there is perfect I highly recommend going to the shop! This is the picture of what I got on my trip today!! Can't wait to go back for years to come!!!

Lovely store with lots of interesting items and the staff are very friendly. I love that they also have great choices in their freezer.

Lots of fun looking at and buying British goods. My friend from Liverpool started drooling.

Well, actually it is, because it's full of cool stuff. Think gift shop + art shop + boutique curio, and maybe that *starts* to describe the space. There are plenty of keepsakes, art supplies, and gift ideas that will run your tab up very quickly. It's all good stuff, mind you, but it's almost like they should have an "I'll take one of everything package". The front of the store is mostly boutique-ish and has a small up and downstairs. You can find gifts for just about anyone, and this is the kind of place where you can stuff stockings or get something unique for that special someone. If you need ideas, then ask one of the staff who are always willing to help. If you need specifics in the art department, then there is a station in the back to help you with various items such as paper types or other supplies. The unique nature of some of the items leads to perhaps some higher prices, but the value is spot on. You're finding gifts, not clipping coupons, so enjoy and shop a little. For everything that you think might be marked a little high, just remind yourself that you probably aren't going to find that in very many other places. And that's the fun of shopping: just browsing when you have the time and maybe the resources, looking at things that you didn't know you were going to find, and in this case, helping a great small business thrive.
