After 4 weeks, I received the call that my mantle was ready for final inspection and install. Francisco & Juan Torres came to my house to install the mantle. They arrived on time ready to work. The job required demolition of the old facade and of course, new install. I can not stress enough how pleased I am with the quality of service that both Francisco & Juan delivered! Great insight especially when it comes to our chimney. We had issues with the chimney cap and the flashing in addition to the more routine elements of cleaning the interior smoke conduit. California Chimney Sweep was fantastic! They made a prompt appointment and arrived on time. All of our conversations were pleasant and all of our questions were thoroughly and politely answered. The inspection revealed a number of issues that required attention. Potential sources of water intrusion were meticulously sealed. The area inside in front of the chimney was carefully draped to catch any debris and then a vacuum device was placed in the area. Nothing escaped into the room while the chimney was carefully cleaned. As the work was done they even noted an area around one of our windows adjacent to the exterior chimney that also could be a source water intrusion and suggested that we look into having that area sealed. We were so grateful for their helpful and careful approach to our issues. California Chimney Sweep went above and beyond expectations and did a fantastic job taking care of our chimney issues!

Ruben measured and completed his installation on 7/21/2023, I pointed out to him about the two vertical gaps between the wall and door frame that need to be sealed by caulking. But he said that should be the mason's job not his. However, at my insistence, he put out some materials from his truck and used it to block the two side vertical gaps. The material is stand alone without adhesive. I am not sure this kind of material is fire resistant or not. Tom replied to my question that it is fire resistant but could not provide literature nor UL number of the material. Without the requested information, I cannot rely on his word alone. I worry about fire safety. Sealing the gap would prevent loss of cool air or heat. Thus, I would like Ruben to come back and use fire proofed construction caulking to seal the gaps. I have emailed Tom to elevate question to the owner asking for the owner's contact info. but despite several follow ups with him, I have received no response.

I forget his name, but whoever I spoke with was very honest upfront that my pits were too small of jobs for him to work on but he referred me to someone for both pits and the bbq as well. His recommendation was Dan who came out and took a look at all 3 things. I believe Dan is with another company, if he or anyone from this company know please kindly reply to this post and inform what company that is! Dan was fantastic, gave me costs and showed me the issues then and there. He also looked at my pit in my front courtyard and was able to solve the minor issue at no charge, simple fix. I decided I didn't want my backyard fire pit fixed because the front one is much nicer and now that it is fixed I doubt I will ever use the one in my backyard--another project yay. Will have to demo it one day. Dan then fixed the bbq and it now looks incredible and works great. I have since used it a handful of times with no issues. After only 1.5 years, the unit has already stopped working properly, which is unacceptable for such an expensive investment. Despite following all maintenance recommendations, I've had issues with burner failure, electrical and remote. When I reached out the owner, he was very unhelpful, unresponsive and extremely rude every time I was able to get hold of him. A fireplace should last much longer than this, and I would not recommend HB FIRE PITS based on my experience. If you're considering purchasing from them, I strongly suggest looking into other options or ensuring you get an extended warranty. Also my next-door neighbor also purchase the same fireplace like mine at the same time, and she's been having many problems with the hardware and the owner. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service from HB fire pits, especially from the owner. When my fireplace started having issues, I reached out for repairs and maintenance, expecting professional assistance. Instead, I was met with rudeness, dismissiveness, and a complete lack of concern for customer satisfaction. Rather than standing behind their product and helping to resolve the problem, the owner was unhelpful and unwilling to take responsibility. Calls and messages were ignored or met with short, unprofessional responses. When I finally did get a response, it was clear they were more interested in avoiding the issue rather than actually fixing it. A company is only as good as its customer service, and unfortunately, HB Fire Pits fails in that regard. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere for a fireplace company that actually values its customers and stands behind its products.
