I love this place to bits! As someone who has an English boyfriend I adore coming here and picking up on snacks for him. We've unfortunately moved away but the owner is very nice and kind, she will take her time to talk to you, get to know you and recommend stuff to you. Best place to try popular British teas and/or treats! If you're interested in looking for a new tea, I love the Yorkshire Gold and the Taylor's afternoon Darjeeling tea! Service has always but good. They offer top tea brands (PG Tips, Twinnings, Taylors), Cadbury chocolates, snacks, LOTS OF SWEEEETS, and citrus fragranced soaps and lotions. The bone china cups were super cute (but pricey-ish). I always buy one or two more things than I came in to purchase. Whether the owner is here or another employee, they are always very helpful in answering your questions. June is so kind and friendly, it was a pleasure to stop by her shop. You just can't find chocolate like the Cadbury chocolate she imports. Also, the Woods of Windsor lotions are so nourishing! What a fun little shop! The British Emporium is one of those hidden gems in Riverside. The store is all about British items that will take those from the UK back home for a few seconds. One of our friends is from England and we thought it would be nice a nice gesture to get her a care package filled with items from back home. Usually we would head over to World Market, but we didn't want things that were rebranded or generic. We did some research and found British Emporium to be what we wanted. They have a large selection of snacks, candies, teas, etc and to bring back the feeling of home, a variety of tea sets imported from England. Quite a unique experience for me. The staff was friendly and provided us with a bit of background on some of the products. I asked if they had large tins of Quality Street candies and they unboxed them from the store room. I know people complain about the prices, but you get what you pay for - it IS worth it. Imports are not cheap, the shipping costs alone are crippling, then add on import taxes/tariffs. I regret not taking my mum there while she was alive. I'm so happy to have found this place near me. For so long, I've had to drive to Torrance or Fullerton to shop for any British items. This shop is the cutest, most adorable, cleanest little place ever! As soon as we walked in, my daughter and I were welcomed by the sweetest and most friendliest lady, June (the owner). She was so much fun to talk to, helped us and answered all our questions. The shop has pretty much everything you want. The only thing they didn't have that we wanted were crisps. We found this place by accident a year ago, seemed okay, had a good selection but the prices are way too high! The sausage is marked up sky high and is actually from Las Vegas and not England. The bacon was jacked up in price as well and didn't taste very good. Not like a good Brit bacon. One of our favorite shops in Riverside, stepping into the British Emporium is like stepping into the UK! The owner imports many different kinds of tea, Sultana scones, marmalades, meat pies, canned goods, soaps, and other goodies...and around Christmas time, the shop is bathed in the sounds of Kings College Choir (the only shop I've found in CA to do so). Cute shop with options you won't find other places. The shop is quite small so there are only a few bookcase sized rows and a small freezer section. The products however all looked up to date and not dusty even if the inventory doesn't turn over very fast. The husband and wife who own the shop are charming and very friendly. They were interactive with our kids and shared some cool facts for them about some of the products. Because it is imported and a small boutique shop that doesn't do high volume expect to pay fairly high prices. We will be back to try some other of the items but probably won't shop here too often. read more
