Rent-A-Center - The used bed RAC insists is "new"

Rent-a-center referred me to their attorney, who in turn requested detailed photos of the damages and two estimates to have it repaired. After I submitted everything requested, their attorney told me that all the damages were done by the tenant and he wanted to negotiate the amount of the estimates. They should not be allowed at any property without authorization of the owner!

If you want a business to 'Twilight Zone' you and make you feel as if you developed amnesia, I…read moredefinitely recommend Rent A Center of Bristol, CT. If you want your sanity, however, I'd avoid them at all costs. I went through Rent a Center years ago and had a positive experience. I bought my item within 90 days same as cash. I planned on doing this again, this time for a trundle bed for my child. I got to the store and was greeted by Lily. She showed me a few options and we agreed on a used trundle for $19.99/week. She told me these trundles are at every store and it's so easy to get a used one of these because the bunk beds- not the trundles- come back with missing parts. So we make the agreement verbally, I sign a few papers and agree for them to come Thursday at 5:15 pm. 5:15 came and went, as did 6:15 that night. We had a dinner guest, so by the time RAC came, near 7 pm, our guest was here. I shouldn't have had to wait that long, but I did- no apology from RAC. The movers brought in the used bed, as promised. When it was time to sign the agreement, the weekly price was right, but the full price was for a new bed. Alarmed by the error, I call the RAC office. Lily stated she'd make a new agreement I can come down and sign sometime that next week but in order for the delivery men to leave, I had to sign the contract. My kid needed a bed, so I signed. A week comes and goes and Saturday, 2/4/17 comes. RAC calls to ask me to pay. I ask Lily if I could come and get the new, amended agreement. She said the conversation never occurred and that the bed was new. I told her it's certainly used, even the deliverymen agreed it was used, and invited her to come and inspect the used bed to fix the agreement. She agreed to be there for 2 pm, personally. Well, 2 pm came and went. I stayed close to my front door with the phone by my side. I got stood up! I waited til closing, 6 pm, and was still stood up. Monday evening comes and guess who calls? RAC!! Of course they would. I answer and it's a man, not my girl Lily, there. He asks if I would be making a payment and I said, "absolutely not", and explained the situation and how I needed a new agreement and someone to come inspect my week old, highly worn and used bed. It's 6:34 pm, less than a half hour before closing, and I have company again. He "empathizes" by patronizingly exclaiming, " OH WOW!" To me after every statement- like I'm a toddler telling a tall tale (trust me, I'm a mom, I've done it). He tells me (20 min before my kids bedtime) I'm coming now to get the bed. No appointment, nothing. The company who stood me up on Saturday and was over an hour late on delivery day was going to be there within minutes? Fat chance. I told them they need to make and keep their appointment and we made one for the next day. I wonder what will happen next? Hopefully we can get this cursed bed out of my home so I never have to deal with these incredibly juvenile, unprofessional workers again! ...and to think RAC and Lily had the gumption to ask for me to positively review them on their site. Well, they got me duped- I gave them a fairly positive review there, but that was too premature. I should've waited for the shenanigans to start first. Don't go here. Period. You're better off going over to Aaron's down the street- or better yet, you're better off saving up a little and grab something for a deal at Big Lots or Bob's Discount Furniture Pit. Anywhere but RENT A CENTER- especially this particular location.

I stopped by while doing some shopping in the area after my friend and I had seen a sign for it in a local coffee shop. I'm glad we did! We were greeted kindly by the bookseller, and we got to chat all about books and upcoming local events for a while. We got recommendations and had an incredibly pleasant conversation! The books are catered towards being LGBTQ+ friendly, and focus on romance and romantasy, as well as offering a selection of manga. The store had a variety of deals ongoing and many options were 20% off! There was a section where you could select a mystery bag for a piece of jewelry. I got the cutest earrings from my bag! Speaking of jewelry, this bookshop offers a variety of jewelry as well as clothing and some posters/cards/art/stickers. There were so many fun things to choose from! Super cute, I'll have to check out some of their community events sometime for sure. Definitely worth a browse!

Wonderful cozy bookstore tucked away inside the mixed-use space in central Southington…read more The bookstore opened recently at the beginning of March, and has already established a brisk business catering to the local population, and drawing book lovers from around Connecticut as well. The bookstore is woman-owned, LGBTQ+ friendly, and provides a safe and welcome space to all. The bookstore focuses primarily on fiction, fantasy, horror and graphic novels. Titles are generally queer themed, but not exclusively so; it would be correct to say the bookstore is encompassing in showcasing great stories and their authors, and the owner is very happy to special order any titles customers may want to read. The bookstore is just a few doors down from a nice cafe, so buying a book here and taking it down a few doors to read while sipping a latte seems ideal. Or reverse it-- buy the latte and come to the bookstore, where a small cafe table is set up for customers who want to read a great book there. The owner has some great plans to expand for the future, and I'm sure we're seeing the very beginnings of a really wonderful shop to come!
