    Philly cheese flatbread

My husband and I drove about an hour to Lee Canyon/Bristlecone to get away from the heat. We sat upstairs on the patio and waited for about 20 minutes before we ordered at the bar. (We arrived around 6pm so understandably busy.) The only food items available were flatbreads. No appetizers or salads. We ordered the Philly cheese flatbread (pictured). I had two bites. The best thing about this place is the gorgeous views and drinks!

Overall place is great and has a nice view of the ski resort. Service with the waitresses has been great; both women were very nice. Bartender (tall white woman) however needs to smile more; she just stood there and made us wait to order a drink until we said "hellooooo". I liked the giant pretzel the best and their hot cocoa was really good.

Bristolecone is located on the second floor of the main building at Lee Canyon is what I think might be the main restaurant? I honestly don't know, but I do know that it's there. My fiancee and I came here for lunch a few weeks back and the first thing the waitress said to us was "Be careful of bees, they swarm the food" and I want to make it very clear that the bees were not the reason I'm giving this place two stars, although we were both swarmed by bees while trying to eat, but hey, that happens in nature. The waitress we had was super nice and brought us water and a menu right away. The menu here is pretty basic offering a few different appetizers, salads, and entrees to choose from but we decided to split a Philly cheesesteak and some BBQ chicken wings. First I dug into the Philly cheesesteak and it was pretty solid, nothing to rave about but an overall pretty decent Philly cheesesteak. Next came the chicken wings....the really bad chicken wings. The wings were a decent size but pretty much just resembled bagged chicken wings from the grocery store, which isn't awful, but like, come on, nobody wants that from a restaurant. Overall, Bristlecone isn't a great place to eat, and if you find yourself at Lee Canyon I would probably check out Bighorn Grill instead. The food was a mixture of solid and subpar, although the service was good and the view is honestly unbeatable being some of the most beautiful mountains outside of Las Vegas, but most importantly, check this place out for yourself and you might just have a different experience.

I went skiing at Lee Canyon for the first time this season. My dad and I decided to eat here for lunch and we definitely didn't regret it. They only had one server working today so actually getting our order in was a bit slow but once it was in, we got our food fairly quickly. We ordered a BBQ Chicken Pizza and a Soft Pretzel with cheese dip. The BBQ Chicken Pizza was very good. It had a nice crust and the chicken was tender. The Soft Pretzel was warm and had a good amount of salt on it. The cheese dip was really tasty and had a hint of jalapeño, I believe it was, in it. It was nice to eat our food with the view of the ski slopes as well. In my opinion, out of the restaurants at Lee Canyon, this one is the best.

    Nice view

We always have a wonderful time visiting this venue. STEPHANIE has been our server the last few times here. Stephanie is very personable & proficient. She makes everything fun & friendly. The food is quite tasty! Today we tried the pepperoni flat bread pizza which was awesome & an order of chicken wings. The wings are really good! We brought our pup, so they are dog friendly....even ordered a side of grilled chicken for him for only $4. Great views of the chair lift and mountains. We loved it!

Flat bread quality was not worth $18. I understand you are in an area where prices will be high, but the quality did not meet expectations.

After a hiking the Upper Bristlecone trail, we were a little famished and decided to stop here for a bite before heading back down the mountain. The weather was perfect and we opted for patio dining. I have dined here twice and the food is good. This time I ordered the fish tacos and beer. We were served pretty quickly. My tacos were decent not incredible but then again I was up in the Spring Mountains not near an ocean. My beer was satisfying although I am not a fan of pale ales but when it's all they offer, one has to make sacrifices. Let me speak about the bar. My husband and I were both so excited to see that they had preserved a portion of the original bar that used to be here before they renovated and built the new lodge. After skiing, we would always stop in here for a shot or two of Jagermeister. Happy they saw it fitting to preserve some Lee Canyon history. The best part of dining here is the views. You are completely surrounded by the gorgeous Spring Mountains that make up our ski area - Lee Canyon. I love it in the summer up here as it is so pleasant compared to the rest of the valley with temperatures consistently 30-40 degrees cooler than the city. Service was efficient not overly friendly. Weekends get really busy up here so thank goodness that the resort has a huge parking lot. See you this summer Bighorn Grill!

The decor is perfect for a trip through time. There's a huge variety of beer between the on tap and bottled. It's the old school order at the bar and take your drinks to the table. Bartender was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The beer was served in the proper glassware. The decor has an incredible number of vintage signs, promotional displays, clocks, etc. some for beer brands no longer made. There is also a huge beer can collection. It's a very nice breaking from blinding flashing lights and loud music. Tip: From the outside you will think you're on the wrong street. There's no sign, flashing lights, folding message boards, etc. Open the door by the 222 and step into yesteryear with a modern supply chain. It's worth a visit.

This occurred well over a year ago (09.27.24 to be exact) so hopefully he has moved on. Bartender described himself as a "professor" of all things beer and blabbed on and on about this and that. We were drinking and enjoying a framboise lambic that I regularly have at home. He said well if you like that you have to give this a try. So, we did. He didn't mention the cost and we didn't ask. The lambic we were were drinking cost $14 per bottle/glass. We ordered ONE bottle of his recommended beer "Framboise 2022" (which was not as good as the $14 one we were drinking, btw), at a cost of $35. We were heading to a show so when the bill came we were in a hurry so paid it without reviewing it. Our bad, but much more so the bartender's as he ensured 1) a larger bill for the owner, and 2) a bigger tip for himself. I have meant to stop by to discuss with the owners but the opportunity has not presented itself. I like the place and will possibly return but never again will I be pegged a ringer for a "clueless tourist", there or anywhere in LV! P.S., I'm from NYC and never, ever did crap like that happen at any bar I ever visited -- and there were many! For the owners ... Recipt states "Server: Andrew & Rose S [owners, as I understand, not bartender's name who waited on us]", Check No. 65, 09.27.24, 6:40 p.m., Total: $85.00

Long review: Going to this place is like going through time travel. It was a Friday night and nearly every single seat was filled. Kids with their baseball hats and cleats, families and friends laughing, with Mick Foley and Luke Skywalker on the TVs.... But most importantly, not a single cell phone. The kids were being kids and not zombies on their phones. The adults were talking and being present. I'm not sure what the magic is here. I go to hundreds of restaurants a year... and I always see people distracted and distance through their own technology... but not here. Here it's like the here 1997 and we are all just loving the neighborhood. The food is great. The pizza is good priced and they have flavors for everyone. Whether it's the whole pizza or just a slice. The pizza is easily one of my favorites in Las Vegas. The char cup pepperoni is elite. Those crispy little cups of joy should honestly have their own fan club. The wings are unmatched. Perfectly crispy and ridiculously flavorful, the kind you keep eating even after you are full because quitting feels like failure. The garlic knots were absolutely to die for. Soft, buttery, garlicky perfection. And the meatballs? Let's just say if a seven year old willingly eats two of them without negotiation, you know they are doing something right. Service was warm and attentive, the perfect balance of friendly without hovering. You feel taken care of without feeling rushed. Now the ambience is definitely a vibe. We spent a solid portion of dinner fielding questions from our seven year old about why there were half naked WWE wrestlers on every TV. Personally, I would not be mad if they swapped in some old Star Wars movies, but that is just my preference. I get that it is part of their thing and it clearly works for them. All in all, incredible food, great service, and a memorable experience for multiple reasons. We will absolutely be back, just maybe a little more prepared next time.

We decided to try the Thanksgiving buffet at The Retreat at Mount Charleston's Canyon Restaurant…read morethis year, and overall it was a mixed experience with a lot of potential. We arrived around 11 am and the atmosphere was pretty lackluster. The buffet was advertised to open at 11, but it didn't actually open until 11:30, which was when our reservation was scheduled. Unfortunately the bar was closed at that time, and the small lobby shop didn't offer anything like wine, beer, or a simple cocktail to enjoy while waiting, so that wasn't great. The lobby itself was in the early stages of being decorated for the holidays. The tree wasn't lit, the large fireplace wasn't lit, staff just were starting to hoist the large sleigh onto the top of the reception area, and there was no music. When the buffet finally opened, we waited in line for about five to ten minutes while the guests with 11 am reservations went in first. No big deal. We were then seated in the main dining room, while some other guests were being seated directly in the buffet room, which was a completely separate large event space connected to it. The main dining room had no decorations whatsoever and was playing classic hard rock music. I asked to be seated by a window but was told a hard no, even though I saw open window tables and watched guests who arrived after us being seated there. Meanwhile, the buffet room had a pretty Christmas tree and soft holiday music playing. There were plenty of empty tables in that room, and honestly it would have made more sense to seat all of the earliest guests in there since the buffet was there, the views were gorgeous, and the ambiance was actually festive. The buffet itself was very good. The variety and taste were true to a classic Thanksgiving spread--turkey, turkey legs, ham, salmon, stuffing, green beans, rolls, fresh fruit, cranberry sauce, gravy, yams, salad, soup, stuffed mushrooms, and more. The desserts included pumpkin and apple pie with whipped cream canisters nearby, which was a cute touch. Our server was excellent: friendly, timely, and really on top of everything. At one point I asked the bartender for a Sprite for my 5-year-old because our server was busy, but the bartender wouldn't give it to me since she said it needed to be entered on our tab. I reminded her that beverages were included in the buffet price, but she still said no. Thankfully our server came over quickly and took care of it herself. Later, the music in our dining room stopped, so I asked a staff member if music could be turned on. When it came back, it was more hard classic rock, which didn't match the holiday meal vibe at all. The pricing was $65 per adult and I believe $30 for my 5-year-old. Even though she only ate fruit, I completely understand still being charged. I do think the price was a bit high for what the overall experience offered, but I didn't mind paying it because the snow and mountain views really are beautiful and part of the draw. We've visited the Retreat at Mount Charleston many times, but this was our first time trying the buffet. The mountain setting is beautiful, and the place has so much potential--especially during the holidays. With a little more intention--holiday décor fully set up, the fireplace lit, a drink option while waiting, warm lighting, consistent holiday music, maybe even live music--it would be truly magical. It just feels like whoever manages it doesn't really care to bring it to that level, which is disappointing because the potential is right there. All that said, the food was very good and our server was great. I genuinely hope they give more attention to the ambiance next year, because this location could easily become a holiday tradition for a lot of families if they embraced the atmosphere as much as they do the menu.
