An OLD-SCHOOL Ice-Cream stand by the side of the road. Looks like it's been there for 75 years. I can imagine before Interstate 39 was elevated out of the realm of mere countryside highway, this was a welcome diversion for all heading towards the Northwoods. It's a bit of a cruise off the big road now, and I imagine it's hard to find if you're not from the neighborhood. Put it in your GPS and have patience. There's a golden reward at your destination. A couple of nice Vanilla cones under the big tree is bliss incarnate, and the SoftServe is delicious indeed. The fine fellow on the other side of the order window was as cheerful as could be. A team of Disney imagineers or a Hollywood brigade could not conjure up a slice of Americana like this, in their wildest dreams. Briq's is an old fashioned ice cream stand that was a pleasure for us to find. After hours of hiking at Rib Mountain State Park, the pups deserved an for being so good. We even got cones for ourselves... two "medium" twists. The cones were humongous! Just three dollars each, and left us wondering how big the large cones were. Large cones and any place that mixes coffee with self serve is A+ It was a difficult drive to find the place, but well worth the journey.

The creamiest soft serve, and such a huge variety, however, the apples ... OMG the apples!!! Every Fall, they sell the most amazing caramel apples dipped in just about everything you can imagine. They come on a stick, inside a great to-go container, or they will slice them up for you to make them easier to eat. They are all delicious, but my favorite is the pecan. Heavenly! They only have them for a short time, so hurry up! read more

We stopped in on the way home on Fathers Day. The parking lot was full and people were everywhere but they were quickly taking orders and getting the ice cream out fast! The flurry was filling with toppings. You get a ton of ice cream for the price. Great stop! read more

Honestly, I don't really get it. Maybe because I'm not a Wausau native and I didn't grow up on it? I don't know! I had a chocolate malt and I didn't care for it at all. I could barely taste the malt. Now, I'm an unfair judge - I'm not a huge fan of soft serve - my husband really enjoyed his cone and would probably come here every day. If you're not a fan of soft serve, this place won't change your mind. If you do love soft serve, you'll probably adore this place and find much to enjoy here. read more

This place brings back alot of childhood memories. I absolutely must have the chocolate soft serve on a cone when I come here. If that's not your thing they have a huge selection, you should be able to find something that your sweet tooth craves. I actually think it tastes nothing like Mc Donalds soft serve as mentioned in a different review. I like the consistansy of the soft serve, it's just the rite amount of softness and doesn't melt before you can get to the cone. Make sure to stay and sit at one of the picnic tables for the full experience. My only complaint is the location is a bit of a bummer. It can be a pain in the butt to get to from the freeway, and I always take the freeway since it's a bit far from my house. read more

When i think of soft serve i think of DQ or Culver's, creamy and flavorful. If you like McDonald's style ice milk stuff, then by all means go for it... if you dont mind the wait. I had to wait quite some time for a crunch dipped cone , and was expecting good creamy soft serve ice cream and instead i got a mcdonalds type 'ice milk stuff 'cone. sure you can add chocolate, peanut butter bananas and whatever else to cover the taste of the lousy ice cream but in the end your throwing away the crappy plain flavorless ice milk stuff thats at the bottom. I really like there ice cream selections and all the different creations they offer. Personally I feel like they dont put enough additions into the ice cream. For example I typically oder a flurry type ice cream. They kind of skimp on the m and m or oreos or w.e. you want them to add in. read more

Briq's is my absolute favorite ice cream shop! I went there every day in high school and ended up working there for my first job. It is the best place ever! The ice cream is wonderful and they are always friendly. I am always there the day they open for the season. Wish the one in Mosinee was still open so I could still get my Briqs fix.
