I have to say that my entire experience at Dillard's was exceptional. I'm saying this as someone…read morewho's not even Dillard's or department store fan. I'm usually a customer of Dillard's for something small or in passing. It's never my destination. During my latest visit it was actually my destination for shoes. I needed sparkly sneakers for a Sneakerball, and Dillard's had the perfect pair! AMBIANCE: This store is tucked away in Beachwood Mall. The lighting in the store and the fashions make it feel like Saks or Nordstrom, not Dillard's. Meaning it's a lot more ritzy. It has pockets of high end brands, and the entire store presents very well. INVENTORY: Dillard's recently really started keeping up with the times. Compared to its competition, it's really fashion-forward. Around the holidays, I noticed that there are a lot of very trendy dresses in relevant colors and gorgeous fabrics. They are also very well styled with faux furs hugging the shoulders or sparkly boleros. There are also exciting party shoes - sparkly, with bows, and all the shimmer! You can really envision and build the entire outfit. I was really impressed with this recent shift of modernization. I even asked myself - Am I really at Dillard's? SERVICE: The service was truly five star. I was in a hurry (story of my life) and needed to quickly located the shoe department. I asked an employee at another department who provided me with very detailed directions. She was super friendly. Staff was pleasant as I made my way through the department store, smiling and nodding. My interactions at the shoe department were similarly warm. The sales associate told me she'll be right with me, immediately found the shoes I wanted, and was extremely friendly. I observed her interactions with other customers and she was providing very personalized service. It was probably among the best customer service interactions at department stores. Seriously great service. She was also as excited as I was about my sparkly sneakers with holiday lights purchased from Betsey Johnson collection. I will say that these sneakers were pricier here than at other retailers. I paid over $100. So many people complimented me on these shoes that it feels like I got my money's worth. I would recommend a visit to this store. The setup makes it feel luxe, the service is extremely cordial, and you experience can be flawless from start to finish. Honestly, couldn't find any fault in my whole time here. I plan to return shortly to look for New Year Eve dress. I'll have to first figure out what to do for NYE. Do I need Dillard's faux furs and bow bedazzled shoes? Or something more subtle?

And I do not make high-end money. Great examples of the best of East Coast fashion...fairly subdued, and lots of black/white/grey. Which is golden for me, since I'm not the dude who can be thrown into a closet full of color and come out anything short of a disaster. And it's the home base of Cleveland-based fashion line "Wrath Arcane" which I've really developed a serious fetish for. I've managed to score a pair of their jeans and a scoodie so far. What the hell is a "scoodie", you ask? It's a scarf. With a hood. Hell yeah. I love the damn thing. Dan is the man at Brigade, and he's pretty much always the dude behind the counter. A solid guy, knows his stuff, and treats you like his bestest buddy from the moment you walk in the door. I've caught Brian O'Neill (owner) in there once or twice and he's a sterling dude. Great people, great clothes, and great service. Hell, when you buy something they wrap it up and carry it to the door for you! Made me feel all special. Like I was buying jeans in First Class or something.

But if you take a walk through the hallways of Eton, you'll be so pleased to stumble into Mulholland & Sachs. Everything in the store is made in America, which wins immediately in my book. They have a beautiful selection of homewares, bridal gifts and accessories/jewelry. While they carry items by artists and other small makers, they also have well known brands like Kate Spade. They also have gorgeous stationary and student/office accessories. It's also a monogram dream...for everything from monogram cheeseboards and other entertainment pieces. You can also do a wedding registry in the store! But what really impressed me was there customization selection. They can do lovely monogram accessories of all types on items like jewelry boxes, serving trays and more. In the back of the store, they also have a section to do custom pillows with Greek lettering. The fabric is super thick and the pillow is quality. OMG! If any of you know how hard it is find to sorority-licensed merchandise, you're likely gasping with excitement right now, too. Definitely will be stopping in again the next time I need an elegant gift for an engagement, wedding, sorority sister, or college student.

I initially called and said I was looking for a dress within the $1500 range or less and the man on the phone was very condescending and he actually laughed at me and said "we can potentially get that price for one of our floor models but it's not likely." Never have I felt so degraded when looking to make a dress appointment. when discussing availability for the appointment we both went went through our schedules he stated he had availability for Thursday but I specificity said that that would not work for me because I had work all day on Thursday. So he said he had availability Friday the 19th so I booked the appointment. So come time I arrive 15 minutes early for the appointment out of courtesy and no one was there. So I gave it a little more time until it was five minutes till my appointment and no one was here still so I decided to start calling the shop to see if my appointment was still happening. After calling 4 times and it being 20 minutes passed the time of my appointment I FINALLY get a call back. And it's the same guy from before and he asked me why I was there... and I was like "well we made an appointment on the phone the other day for Friday the 19th." to which he responds " no ma'am your appointment was booked for Thursday." to which I responded " that doesn't make any sense because last time we called I stated that that didn't work for my work schedule and when discussing other days you said Friday was also an option." so then he says "well on my calendar it says the appointment is booked for Thursday." Usually I'm a bit of a pushover and I give up pretty easily but I've been looking for dresses for a long time and it's really been a struggle so I'll admit in that moment. I did get a little fed up with being talked to like trash and I stood up for myself and I said "no because on my calendar it says Friday the 19th." to which he Snickers at me again and just as well we can just reschedule the appointment for another time so I agreed to another date to go back and try dresses on. but you know what after getting that phone call an hour or two later and just analyzed how that whole conversation went down on the phone I realize that I'm not gonna find my dress here, especially with how I was treated over the phone. I can't imagine how he treats customers in person Especially if their customers on a budget. Trying on dresses for your wedding is supposed to be a very special and memorable moment for the bride and I have never felt so disrespected and unwanted. I think this gentleman needs to rethink his strategy and how he speaks to people, especially potential buyers. As someone who works in commission based sales for a living I don't judge anyone by how they dress or how they speak or what their budget is because a customer is still a customer. Do better.

He also humored us all by putting me in my mother's wedding gown and showing us what it could look like with a little tailoring. It was a really sweet, memorable experience for all of us. I do wish the website were more updated with more photos and working links, and that he asked each bride what their clothing size is before allowing them to make an appointment as he only has one size in store.
