Wading pool is just a few steps infront the Community Center. There was plenty of kids. I guess they were still on summer camp :) Some of the bigger ones were doing kind of a picnic on tables. I found this great! There is also a small picnic shelter for parties when available. In other CCs you can grab a chair if they are available or a person would just guide you about the procedure. Here, a lady would almost yell in a very rude way to ask for it. I answered her how would I know about a different process from where I come from or even whom to ask for it. She then told me it was her I should have asked for a chair. For a chair to sit!! Fortunately, we brought everything we needed and proceed to enjoy the wading pool for some minutes. We shared our toys and stuff just like at other pools because they are all kids :) Police cars were driving around.

He was a pioneer, excellent marksman and cabinet maker. The first school in King County was the Van Asselt School in 1862. Came here for the first time, the grounds are super nice and amazingly clean. I felt that it was a great "homey" environment for kids and a great place to spend the day. I like the park because it's great for all ages. The playground area for kids is covered in beautiful synthetic grass that is safe to play on, soft to fall on, which I love because it's not messy like wood chips or sand. They have slides, swings, and a seesaw. During the summer, you can play in the wading pool. There's a basketball court nearby, BBQ Grills, and also a shelter with picnic tables. There's a large grass area too for anyone wanting to picnic on a blanket. The bathroom is very close by attached to the back of the Van Asselt Community Center. Not everyone in Seattle has the same access to recreational opportunities. Some can afford gym memberships, fitness classes, and personal trainers, but most cannot. That is why Seattle Parks Foundation is partnering with the Trust for Public Land, MOMentum, Leschi Community Council, and Seattle Parks and Recreation to install free outdoor gyms, called Fitness Zones Areas, in public parks around the city. Each Fitness Zone Area includes 8 to 12 pieces of durable, easy-to-use, vandal-resistant equipment that can be used by everyone from teenagers to seniors to tone their arms and legs and get their heart pumping. Great Park. One of the best actually.

The second time my kid wanted to come so we purposely drove out to it. This time we left early because it didn't feel safe. We went to the bathroom and there was a homeless person in there occupying the handicap restroom, most likely doing something illegal. Her arm was sticking out under the stall and it felt kind of scary. I had to usher my kids out as quickly as possible. When we got back to the playground, tons of trash. A toddler pulled down her pants to pee on the ground. A bunch of teenagers were at the toddler playground without shoes on, occupying the "inside" of the playground. Worried my kids had to go to the bathroom again, we left early. It didn't seem sanitary nor safe anymore. We will not be back.

It's really cool that there's a lot of chickens and Vanny so you can just go up and play with as well as all the little structures in playground and stuff . I will say one of the most offputting things was while we were looking at the chickens. Some woman next to us was kind of talking about the park, not being open to the public and going on and on about it. I may be thinking too much into it although she was talking to someone else and right next to us, but it did kind of seem like it was directed towards us. I would just recommend checking in public hours as the other hours are for the preschool attendees.

There is actually a basketball court right next to it so you could actually bring older kids and have a game. Wear rain boots as it can get a bit muddy during the winter months. Highly recommend coming here for great imaginative play.

The airplane-themed play structure has truly unique features that kids will love, plus exercise equipment for grown-ups -- and there's a super special bonus for kids who love transportation. Definitely put this artsy, historic Seattle neighborhood on your route.  1. The unusual, two-story, globe-shaped merry-go-round spins and doubles as a climber with cargo netting all around. Hop inside or climb up the outside. 2. A totally fun hydraulic descending platform thingy is a little hard to describe but enthralling to kids. Children step onto a small, circular platform with a central pole (with hand-holds) and the platform slowly descends to the ground under their weight. Once the child steps off, the platform slowly rises back to its starting position. 3. A cargo net climber and other climbing elements encourage balance and age-appropriate risk-taking. There's as a small rock-climbing ramp for younger kids, a stretch of enormous, twisting rope, fabric platforms and a curving blue slide. 4. Flexible rubber "ramps" are irresistible to young climbers. One has hand-holds for littler kids. Scramble up these pathways to hop on and ride the hydraulic descender. 5. Colorful bells, a huge xylophone and other giant musical instruments invite sensory play. 6. Swings! The spacious swing set features two accessible swings, two regular swings and two baby swings. 7. Exercise equipment for grown-ups (and teens) means you can squeeze in a little workout while your kids go bananas on all the cool play structures. Try the elliptical trainer. There is also a tennis court and while it doesn't look like it was part of the renovation, it appears totally serviceable. A half-court basketball court invites shooting baskets, and a huge soccer field hosts official games for teams of all ages but is also open for public play at other times. These highlights are just the beginning of the fun features at this park. Pathways are accessible and there are new benches adjacent to the play area. The spray park, and there is a small covered picnic area and other seating, plus a restroom. Transportation bonus: Train tracks run right by the park and the Georgetown neighborhood's proximity to Boeing Field mean planes fly in low and loud. It's great fun for the young transportation buff.
