This is the kind of place you want to go 'Bonkers' to break the monotony, and its all there to do it. It has ramps, walkways, space, bars, food, water but nothing to excite or inspire. But then this is the problem with just relying on money and free market values to create some kind of town, similarly with Milton Keynes or Telford, you do end up with something that kind of works (ish) but it is a bit dull. There is only so much looking at the water and boats and going 'thats nice' you can take before you realise you cannot go in the water or go on the boats because it is mostly owned by a select few. Which is fine, I am all for people saving to buy boats and it must be a fantastic way to retire, which it seems many people do here. You can go on boat trips, and I hope in the future these will be cheap and easily accessible and perhaps in the future some bars, restaurants and shops will open that are a bit more interesting. For some the Marina does its job, for others if this is a 'design for life' its not a very good one.

I did this programme and loved it and would recommend it. There is tonnes of events going on so there will be something to do. The cafe also supplies good grub which is important for a day spent on the water before and after. Even if the weather isn't great do not let it put you off as often you get more speed when windsurfing in bad conditions. Plus once you have finished you can have a nice hot bath which always feels a million times better when you've been out in the windy weather of the Brighton seafront. It isn't the cheapest day but in terms of the facilties, coaching and equipment you get at your disposal it is relatively.

You can rent a kayak and go out on the ocean, or do a variety of sports in the lagoon (windsurfing, wake boarding on zipline, stand up paddleboard, sailing, kayaking, etc.) Reasonable pricing scheme, really friendly (and attractive) staff. My ONE warning, don't expect a crystal blue lagoon. It is a sorta funky brown pond of seawater. But hey, it is a good, safe place to learn with much more predictable conditions than the big bad ocean, so you do what you gotta do. I'd definitely come back on my own and play some more!

The guy selling the tickets first led me in the wrong direction and started swearing at me when I asked him why? After reading the comments on this company on other pages I say 'Thanks God' I didn't buy a ticket from such a rude and fraudulent scumbag. Unfortunately, when I read David R's (Manager Water Tours) responses to the criticism expressed in the comments, it once again confirms an old adage - The fish stinks from the head!

For the fishing trips, the company go out five times a day, seven days a week, from March to November (providing the weather isn't too rough). Each trip lasts for a duration of 90 minutes which is ample time to catch enough mackerel for your tea (and probably enough to last you through the week!). The cost is £20 per head (£10 for spectators) and this included the use of fishing rods and bait. Its quite a simple technique and the boys on the boat will help you reel in the fish and kill them if you get stuck. The killing is a little gruesome but I believe its an important thing to do if you want to follow the process through from start to finish. It was maybe a little crowded on the boat which led to the lines becoming entangled on occasion. But its a fun way to spend a couple of hours, especially when the sun is shining and the seas are calm. I brought home seven mackerel, a pretty good catch. And being able to eat fish that was swimming in the sea just a few hours before is a true delight.

A skate park, watersports and pitch & putt all come together to make this place literally a honey pot in the few months that we get weather warm enough to take our jumpers off. I have spent more time here in the summer than anywhere else so I would be a good judge. With coastal buses stopping right in front of it and Brighton buses only a 5 minute walk away it is easy to get to. The whole area is full of other attractions: a skate park (not full of aggressive youths), a pitch and putt, various eateries and a paddling pool/adventure playground. It's obviously made for a family outing: full of things that will appeal to Mummy and Daddy as well as the little-uns. Everything on offer is perfectly adequate, but nothing here is really special. Is it worth the trip? If I had some sprogs, I might make the trip more often, but as it stands Hove Lagoon offers little that really appeals to me. All of the various sporty things on offer are not really my bag, nor is the food really worth travelling out of town for. It stands up perfectly well for what it is, but it isn't worth the trip without any of the other attractions here at the Lagoon. If you fancy a family day out, this is a great place, but don't come specifically for the food: it just isn't that special.
