A horrifying experience, ending with physical assault: My experience with Ross Boat trips has been unpleasant in the absolute extreme. I was physically assaulted by a member of their staff (acted like the owner, but I don't actually know) who I feel has utterly disgraced himself, and this company.
To cut to the end of a long story, this man punched me three times in the head, jaw and neck, after exhibiting menacing, bullying, intimidation upon both myself and my girlfriend. This followed a verbal dispute over some pre-booked tickets, and I feel that it is important to add that my hands stayed by my side throughout being punched, so there was absolutely no provocation at the time of this man's attack. The Police were involved and after explaining that I decided not to press charges, this guy actually had the audacity to argue with the them as to whether or not he should provide a refund (having provided no service to us, apart from the punches in the face)!
The situation began after we arrived late for our pre-booked sailing time, missing the original trip. Things became mildly unpleasant when I asked if it would be possible to return on another date. This was met with some resistance, and after it was suggested that we might post a review of our (thus-far) problematic encounter, the man in question quickly became verbally intimidating (yelling in my face - with accompanying spit - swearing, and even threatening to "break [my] F**KING glasses" if I didn't "P*SS OFF". I then obliged, walking about 50 meters away to call my bank about cancelling payments, and had been disengaged from the dispute for about 1 minute before the guy came storming towards me. I began raising my voice to attract witnesses, telling him things like "Don't come any closer", "I want you to keep away from me" etc, which had little effect, as he was already very worked up. After the first punch (to my jaw) I pointed out that he had just committed assault, and I wanted him to stop, but he then struck twice more (head then neck), before I could step far enough back from him (and nearer the boardwalk above, where other people were now watching. My girlfriend was stood about 3 meters behind me (on the board walk) and later told me she felt intimidated, and in danger of being attacked herself. Not the greatest day out for a couple then...
I would urge anybody looking for a boat tour on the south coast to look elsewhere, as there are a number of alternative providers who offer the same services for a similar fee. read more
