A brand new year and a brand new start. For many of us this means a new strict and uncompromising health routine, or regime as I've found with some people. What better way to exercise than a semi submerged thrash around in a pool? The Prince Regent has three separate pools. The main pool is 25m long and should be noted, isn't suitable for non-swimmers. But the flexi pool can accommodate those there just wishing to have a splash. It's always quite busy and the swimming team practice on Wednesday so you may want to avoid them. And don't try to join in with the synchronized swimmers, as they have a structured routine that would be ruined by somebody not in the know.

Have normally used this pool in the past, and as already reviewed by fellow Qypers, it has not had the most favourable of opinions. However, I feel that this has changed with the refurb. I don't normally bother with the parking, as I am fortunate with other means of transport. Staff are great and attentive to their job. I find the place leisurely..but I would as I'm retired!!

Disgusting changing and spa facilities, the steam room hasn't worked in months and the entire spa…read morearea has a musty smell. Not healthy or safe. Avoid.

I would highly recommend this gym to anyone who was looking for a decent gym in Brighton…read more The staff are professional and friendly, they don't hound you to sign up for a Personal training session with them - which they do in LA FITNESS. It's clean and spacious - you don't need to worry about really waiting for machines or bumping into/getting in the way of people- which you do in LA FITNESS. It's also got some really good high quality and state of the art equipment .. I particularly enjoy running, but sometimes it gets a bit boring - especially if you run for a while! Some of the machines in this gym have screens which enable you to choose a route to follow, so it feels as if you are actually running through that scene. My favourite by far is the German Mountains run! Its great and has kept me really entertained! This gym is a little more expensive than the other gyms such as LA FITNESS or pure gym or The gym. Their membership is around £45 or more so perhaps a little more than others but its worth it! You avoid queues, it's not as busy, and really the main thing.....people who go there know what their doing and don't dress in vans, skinny fit adidas tracksuits and wife beaters/vest tops that look like they should be bungee jump straps! One disadvantage... No pool!

I present: my attempt to remain in good health! I've been going to Otium for about 2 to 3 months…read morenow, and as gyms go, it is perfectly fine, but nothing to write home about. The only reason I chose this over any other was closeness to home and ease of access; beyond that, it is comparable to any other gym, if a little smaller. Otium is the in-house gym for the Thistle Hotel: as such, it is kept in excellent condition. Although it is generally quite small, with a lot of machines crammed in, they all work and are kept in good nick. That being said, I've stopped going at peak times (lunchtimes, after 5) because you often don't get to use the machines you want, or have to wait for a little while. Apart from all of the machinery, Otium has a good selection of weights, gym balls and other paraphenalia: anything the gym novice may need. Not being that knowledgeable about gym machinery, I don't know if they have anything for the true enthusiast; although judging by the general size of the gym, I'd doubt it. That being said, the pool and sauna section next door is excellent: well looked after, pleasantly designed, and more than large enough for the gym itself. It never seems that busy either... a nice alternative to the always busy pools around town. So, a generally nice gym, well-looked after and run, if a little small. It's about the same price as any other gym; it was slightly cheaper when I joined than the other Brighton gym behemoths, but I reckon that was probably a special offer. I'd recommend it for locals, but not worth going out of your way for.

Lovely Health Club. All you need is there just like they…read moresay.. Gym, Swin, Relax. This place is never too busy and very friendly, not to mention that they are always cleaning the place or should I say.. keeping the place clean.
