( Please note: there is another company operating under the same name on the westside that is not…read moreaffiliated with this company) If you have OC(P)D, perfectionism and money insecurity like me or if you just want to work with a competent, reliable and honorable electrician, stop looking. This is that unicorn you're looking for but never thought existed. I found Ian when I had what I thought was a refrigerator issue which turned out to be an electrical issue that burned the motherboard of my Sub Zero. I noticed immediately that unlike other companies, Ian spoke to me like I was a referral from a personal friend. He was helping to troubleshoot on the phone and text BEFORE charging an arm and a leg. And only after he had an idea of what the possible issues could be. An when two of his team ( his very competent sons obviously trained by Ian) came, they were super respectful and efficient in identifying the issue at the break panel and resolving it in the most efficient way. And they uncovered the issues was with the main electrical coming from SCE so Ian reminded me that because the issue was caused by them , that I can file a claim to get reimbursed. These guys solve problems like they would want others to solve it for their mom, sister, etc. And I am 100% certain They fixed the issue for no less than half of what another company would charge. After that I had a couple of smaller projects at our rental property : 1) replacing all the under cabinet lights in the kitchen - he sent me the link to the lights to get on Amazon so he wouldn't have to upcharge me for them and his price was again nearly half of what another company quoted 2) Converted all 6 recessed ceiling lights from some old Pre-code version to current LED. Now I was quoted over $1,000 for this by another company and they also said they had to cut into the ceiling and then patch to repair that. So we delayed doing this work for months until all but one light was still working but when the guys from South Bay Electric came they geniusly figured out that based on the type of box and connectors of the current lights, they could safely and to code use parts from a new system to do the conversion rather than replacing the entire system. If you appreciate tradespeople who are students of their art, who get a kick out of solving problems safely, efficiently and effectively, these are the folks you want to have your back. You can hear it in their voices, feel it in their attitude and witness it in their mastery of their skill. And during their lunch break they shared how they often try to help people who call solve their own issues if possible. They will give them instructions and tell them what parts to get because they feel bad charging people for work they could have done themselves. Recently, we called Ian to request his help with some repair work at my late father in law's house. Some lights and outlets weren't working and he provided a range of potential solutions to solving the problem and included implications as it relates to the involvement of the city. Equipped with full information we were able to determine the successful course of action. In this case - get this, the bill came in at 1/2 the price Ian quoted. Who does that? Anyways, all I know is that Ian and his boys are on my speed dial and I am a loyal customer for life!

Our garage light was flickering so badly it resembled a seizure trigger. I didn't know who to call,…read moreso I searched Yelp and found Ian Marsh of South Bay Electric. There were a series of excellent reviews. I sent hima a message and he got back to me right away. When we spoke, Ian himself walked me through the troubleshooting over the phone. He suggested it could be a bad bulb connection (take it out and clean the contacts) or an issue with the wall switch. Sure enough, it turned out to be our dimmer switch -- it just couldn't hold the charge properly and was causing the constant flickering. What really stands out is that Ian could have easily scheduled a service call and charged me a couple hundred bucks to come out. Instead, he gave me the exact fix for free and saved me the hassle and expense. In a world where so many companies push for paid visits, this level of honesty and helpfulness is rare and genuinely appreciated. While it cost me nothing, it cost him his time.I As a result, I promised Ian I'd write a glowing review, and here it is. If you're in the South Bay and need an electrician you can actually trust, call Ian Marsh South Bay Electric. Highly recommend! Rick

As a BOD member for the HOA, I had previous experience with Mario Castillo electric when we needed to do an upgrade to the electrcial panel at our home where they did an exceptional job. This time I was working with their commercial division and the excellence of service was no different. The communication, responsiveness and quality of work was excellent. There was one minor issue after hours and they had a service technician onsite within an hour. They worked very well coordinating with the individual tenants in each unit to gain access when needed. Their quote for this project was also competitive, and job was brought in on budget with no extra "surprises". I highly recommend this company for your electrical needs, big or small. Our HOA has picked Mario Castillo as the electrical vendor of choice for any work needed and we are looking into an ongoing maintenance contract with them as well.

Pricing is quite high compared to other quotes I received but very transparent and worth it. Took one star because of poor communication and lateness. They advertise working Saturdays and do some of the crews but according to their office, that is all a mistake and they only work M-F 9-4. That plus the crews showing up 2.5h late each time meant that I had to take more time off than anticipated for them to complete the work. But now I know and I will absolutely use them again.

Scheduling with them initially was a little confusing - first we were messaging through Yelp, then text, then they sent me to their website. They were communicative but I never knew which channel to reach out to first. They did come out quickly which was appreciated. The first two gentleman that came to replace my fan and fix my ceiling light were not great. They would look at something, and then disappear and call someone and be on the phone with someone while they were looking at the fan or light fixture, almost like they were calling someone and asking them what they should do. Shouldn't they know? They were at my house for HOURS. WAY longer than I think they should have been. They would just look at the light fixture and talk to each other for like 5 minutes, then step out to make a phone call, then come back and start working on it. Over and over and over. They took a brand new fan out of the box and replaced it, but it wobbled like crazy (turns out they just didn't put the fan together really well because the second guys that came back made it much better). When they replaced my dimmer switch and celiing light, it looked AWFUL. Wasn't flush to the ceiling at all. They told me just to patch it, but this clearly needed more than a patch! I couldn't believe they just left it like that. I called and told them I was unhappy with their work, and they offered to come back and fix it. The second guys that came back were in and out so fast. They fixed the light and it looks perfect, just as it should. Clearly the first guys that came out had no idea what they were doing. Disappointed to have had a less than stellar experience, considering how highly reviewed they are. It must depend on what service folks you have come out to actually do the work.
