We rented the entire Bright Box in gorgeous Winchester VA for our wedding. The venue provided a unique yet eloquent tone for our special day. It was especially convenient to have Catering, DJ, and media all wrapped into one venue. Nick (Bright Box event coordinator) and the rest of the Bright Box staff were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful during our day. Nick worked very well with our Day of Coordinator to ensure all needs provided by the Bright Box were met promptly. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bright Box for our wedding. Having both the downstairs for our ceremony and dance floor coupled with the upstairs for cocktail hour, pictures, and a quite talking place away from the music made our day complete and provided great flexibility for our guests. We also enjoyed the outside sitting area with our guests on an amazing weather day. I hosted a retirement party for a family member at Bright Box Theater in May of this year. From beginning to end, my experience was 20/10. Nick helped with everything from start to finish, never made me feel like I was asking too many questions (I probably was,) and helped me customize the event to be exactly what I was looking/asking for. The event space was beautiful, well-lit, and had everything we needed without even having to ask. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond during the event, as well as made fantastic drinks for all of the guests! I will be hosting all future events here and would HIGHLY recommend to everyone. My experience was top of the line, as has been every event I've attended here. Amazing place to see a show. Very cozy and you are close to the stage from anywhere in the room. Good sound system and acoustics for a small theater. Decent beer and booze selection too. Bright Box is a small theatre downtown on the Walk a Mall. They feature live music and Fantastic Comedy Shows!! BrightBox is a gem , not to be missed. Check them out for their many shows. The talent incredible, and sure to please. Comedy shows are smart , hip and rib breaking funny. (Adult only). Sitting is tight but every seat is good, get there early to get the best pick. They have tables and the rest are stools around the perimeter with a bar like counter. They offer beer wine and mixed cocktails as well as food, such as appetizers,(bar munchie type) and sandwiches. Food is generally good snack type stuff and maybe rated only soso. Service is good, staff is friendly. Looking for a fun night out ? Check this place out. read more

My husband and I had a GREAT time at Brightbox for comedy! This is a really FUN place - I highly recommend. Top marks! Winchester is very LUCKY to have Brightbox here for comedy shows with famous comedians, live music/entertainment. The Liberal Redneck could have easily sold out a dozen more shows here. I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt! I hope he'll come back and do a lot more shows next year. Winchester needs fun things to do - this is the place. And the manager NICK is really exceptional!! Truly. Brightbox is certainly lucky to have this high caliber person managing it. He will go far. The venue is clean and the conference I was attending had their banquet here. I have no complaints of the service, it was buffet. The meal started with cheese tray, crab balls, and loaded baked potatoes. The main course was salad, salmon with optional dill sauce, rice pilaf and pasta. All was delicious. The desert was cheesecake (also good). The facilities could be modernized. The venue was a little dark for an awards banquet. I would love to go here again for a performance. read more

First time here. Had little hard time finding it. It's actually on like a private no traffic street. Parking was hard to find due to a wine fest going on. There is metered parking which you can use or park in the garage at $1 hour which I didn't think was bad. Establishment well stage kind of almost fills the room. It was ok tho. I traveled about 5 hours to go see Kevin Lee who is a great magician and funny/awesome comedian. Follow him & go see a show you won't be disappointed. Back to establishment. Had full menu of food & drinks. Food came out a little cold but was edible and quite good. I had bacon meatballs as appetizer and then a burrito and rice. Free refills on soda was a plus as well. This place does a lot of comedy and some very good shows coming up. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Servers had like a iPad such thing to swipe your payment at table and few options for receipts.(email/text etc...) which was pretty neat. Would definitely go again if wasn't to far away. Great venue, amazing staff, good bar food, solid cocktail and beer selection. A local music venue in the valley. One note, it's all table seating and bar stool sitting in the back row. Came here for a concert and it was a good place to listen to music and have a drink. It's nicely decorated, not too fancy but not too divey​ either, and probably about the right size for their shows. The main stage area was small, but when the crowd came it was filled without being jam-packed​ and uncomfortable. There are a couple of things I'd ding them for though. The bar area needs to be laid out better as the lines back up into the entrance, and also end up blocking access to the women's room from the main stage. The men's room is on the opposite side of the building and not easy to find, though once you find out where it is, there is a sign leading you to the back. The prices were also a tad higher than I expected for Winchester, but not horrible and definitely not as bad as closer to DC. read more

Very friendly helpful staff. Great sound for live music. My only complaint is.. it is ungodly hot inside to be standing the entire time listening to music. Everyone was sweating through everything they had on- and I didn't have on much being it was an 80 degree day.. it felt better outside then inside the venue. Very cool example of turning an old storefront into a venue for music theater and more. While vacationing in the Winchester area we were fortunate to be able to get into the comedy show on August 26th 2017. To access the VIP seating you need to arrive early so we did ordering drinks and food while waiting. The good stuff- advertised drinks were not bad. We also had shrimp as an appetizer and two hearty salads ( one steak and one chicken) these were pretty good. The bad- if you order something outside of their play book you may not like it. We ordered a drink not shown on the menu that required cranberry juice I think they substituted red kook aid or Gatorade tasted awful. Overall it was good and the show was entertaining. Great little place for food and fun. We will come back if we are in the area again. read more

Poor event planning. Not happy at all. I have been a hostess before and when you have large groups, it's standard to set aside a table for them. Instead they allow open seating and waste seats on parties of 2 or 3 at tables that can hold 4 to 6. That leaves people in large groups splitting up and unable to sit together out of sheer laziness. You have the list and see that 1 person bought 6 tickets or 5 tickets. There is no reason they shouldn't have a table reserved for them other than bad planning and sheer laziness. 5 stars for comedy. 3 stars for food. We've been here 3 times for comedy. Each time we've had a good laugh and we plan to be back. Seating has been full each time so come early if you want a table (note: tables are intended to seat 4 so if you're a couple, please make room to share!). Food is a bit lackluster. Tator tots have been acceptable but greasy. I didn't care for the jalapeño bombs but they seem to be popular so maybe it's just me. I had a grilled chicken kabob that was lacking flavor - none what so ever. On top of lack of flavor, there was hardly any meat. The grown up grilled cheese has been good. Our favorite dish is probably the cheese and cracker plate. However, the homemade pickles need to be "pickled" longer. When they're busy, don't expect quick drink refills. We'll be back but we'll probably get our next meal before the show. read more

I was really disappointed with the limited drink selection. If they aren't going to serve hard liquor, they really should expand their wine and beer selections. As far as what they do offer, the prices were incredibly, ridiculously over priced. The headlining band had to comment from the stage about the heat before they did anything to cool the place off a bit. I didn't even bother to order any food as I caught glimpses of the serving sizes of other's orders around us, and for the prices listed on the menu I was a bit shocked that they can manage to keep the kitchen part up and running. The only thing saving this place is booking bands like Gangstagrass, who were once again amazing! In the future, I will travel additional distance to see Gangstagrass to avoid Bright Box. read more

Excellent venue for quaint & intimate performances. We just can't get enough of this place & the craft beer they have on tap. We've seen a lot of great acts & performances here, such as a great Vaudeville show from New Orleans, a very fun & interactive Drag Show out of the Baltimore area as well as some great local bands like Gallows Bound. We even took part in the shooting of a music video! If you'd enjoy catching a live performance, having a decent snack & drinking some excellent craft beer while not over spending this is your place. read more

I follow my friend Martha and her 80's band "The Reflex Live!" and would and have put up with a lot sometimes to see them. The Bright Box is crowded for a party band, not enough dance floor for this Boogie Man. Too pricey for old folks, wear earplugs of course. We had our wedding there Saturday night. Matt and the entire staff really went above and beyond to make our event everything we wished for. The food was out of this world (thanks Chef Patrick), the space was perfect, and everyone there went out of their way to make our special day amazing and stress-free. I am a professional that lives and works in Winchester for the last 26 years and just now visited Bright Box to hear some excellent bluegrass last night with Bud's Collective. I was very surprised and pleased with this venue. The layout makes every seat good and even with a crowd it was intimate. Great show. Gina on the banjo - need I say more? Service very good; my beer cup was well tended and our server Nick was unobtrusive but helpful. Other reviews complain about the food - hey- its fine and we are there for the show, not a four star meal. It's good show food. Only thing lacking - no iced tea on the beverages list. This is still the South for God's sake! I felt like a return to the 80's clubs - all in a positive way. Sound man handled things very well - not too loud that you couldn't say something to your spouse beside you, but balanced very well. I'm a fan and I'll be a regular. read more

For my original review, I had complained about the high price we paid for our beers. I received a fast response from Bill Rogers at Bright Box who stated that the beers were not that expensive. Turns out we were double-charged. He immediately rectified the situation and provided us with a refund as well as tickets for another show. I have always enjoyed the shows at Bright Box, so I am happy to report that we will continue to attend shows there thanks to their incredibly fast response and willingness to fix the problem. read more

Went to see the San Francisco Jazz collective a couple weeks ago. The show was great and I hope to see more world class music there in the future. Definitely will be going back judging by what I've seen of their bookings. The help was very cordial, the entrance is colorfully decorated with mural type paintings on a red wall. The downstairs room itself is a large rectangle, with the stage along the long wall on the left as you enter. The room was nicely lighted. I do hope they'll add a riser for the act to stand on. as while I had a great sight line from the back wall, the people in the front rows made it less great. For a standing show, if they have them, it would be worse I think. A stage is an integral part of show business isn't it? I know the room is meant to be flexible for different types of presentations, but there are collapsible stages to be had. The seating was a choice of several high tables with cushioned, backless, bar stools against the back wall, and tables with what looked to be fairly hard, stack-able seats. So long as the show doesn't last hours it shouldn't be too bad, but they wouldn't have been my choice. I know with a new venue cost is a concern, but a little more comfort I think would eliminate a potential turn off. BUT, until I try them, it's possible I'm off base. I do know that the cushioned stool was losing its comfort towards the end. I don't want this to sound too negative. I've spent a couple years of my life traveling out of town to shows, and this is a great start for a first of it's kind in Winchester IMO. All told, I was very, very happy to be able to travel 5 minutes to a nice venue with a parking garage right behind it, and on street parking also available, plus great music, and a friendly staff. I'll be giving it all the support I can to help keep it going and I'm telling anyone who will listen to check it out. Keep up the good work! PS, I just noticed one of the pictures in the expandable area under the comment box shows a collapsible riser, which makes me very disappointed that it wasn't used for the show I attended. Good venue in Old Town for comedy shows, have gone twice and they've been good both times. The only thing is that their drink prices are EXPENSIVE...$5.50 for a Bud Light served in a solo cup. Other than that, good place. read more

I have been fortunate enough to visit the Bright Box many times now. They always bring in very professional and high quality acts. They have great food options, and they offer unique beers, often from local breweries on tap. The prices are great, especially for the quality of shows. The sound is amongst the best that i've heard in a live performance hall. The main room is big enough to seat many, but small enough where the performances feel really personal. They just renovated the upstairs to offer even more personal shows and it sounds incredible up there as well. To top it all off the staff and people managing the place are so friendly and inviting. Bright Box is the greatest thing to come to downtown Winchester and the walking mall in particular. Ticket prices are more than reasonable. The sound system and lighting is spectacular. Service is professional, efficient and courteous. There is not a bad seat in the house. Come see your favorite show with about 200 of your closest friends! read more

My husband and I saw a standup show at the Bright Box last weekend, during the "Bloomin' Wine Fest," and really enjoyed the two comedians who performed. Kevin Lee and especially Liz Miele put on a great show and we were delighted to have stumbled on the Bright Box to catch their acts. We hadn't known about the place beforehand, but it is a really cool small venue, and you can't beat the location right downtown. The only drawbacks were 1) the host was baaaad, like the stereotype of a comedian bombing... if you're going to be offensive and borderline mean, at least be funny. The whole room was uncomfortable and awkward while no one was laughing at his "jokes." And 2) the food was really the worst I have ever ordered anywhere. Airplane food, junior high cafeterias, gas station vending machines... anything would have been better that the food we got at Bright Box. First, the descriptions on the menu only vaguely resembled the actual food we received. Second, the preparation was terrible-- everything was either burned, shriveled, cold, or still partially frozen. Thank god the main act comedians (and the drinks) were good! All in all, this was a fun night and cool venue-- I would definitely recommend seeing a show there. But don't order dinner!! read more

The Bright Box is a fairly new venue in Winchesters Old Town Mall I have been there twice for the Saturday night comedy show. The venues prices are affordable and they have good prices on the beer and wine they have available. They are still working out a few kinks and I can see an improvement over the first time I went after the get all the kinks worked out might be a 5 star. Staff is friendly have had amazing comics the venue is a little on the small side but I believe that makes for a more enjoyable experience. Looking forward to catching a musical act here in the near future. read more

We always enjoy a night out at the Bright Box, whether it's a date night or night out with friends. They bring incredible acts, from music to comedy and theatre, to our downtown area, giving Old Town a great energy and evening entertainment outlet. I also love that they have partnered with Shenandoah Conservatory to expand their musical offerings. The Bright Box staff is fantastic, the food is great, and you can order a meal (and beer or wine) tableside before and during a show. They are rolling out their new menus this week on September 8th, and we got a sneak peek at a tasting, and it was truly fantastic. Worst venue for music ever. went for date night on Friday night. 20 minutes after main band started my husband and I were in front of stage when a group bum rushed the stage and attempted to push everyone else out. 5 min later another fight started on the other side of us. There was no security save a couple of boys who were not in the stage area but down a long hall by the front door. We left and alerted them to the situation and they half heartedly meandered to the stage to stop the fight. The band, when the aggression first started, began playing more angry gangster rap, further inciting the crowd. I have gone to small venues in DC, Baltimore, New York, and never had to deal with nonsense like that. read more

It was so much fun that we decided to swing through Winchester on our way back Saturday night to catch another band. Pretty cool place here in Winchester! We went for a comedy show I'm the radiant room upstairs. One comedian Tracey Locke was hilarious and Reggie Rice was okay. The room is awesome minus some weird sight lines because of poles, but we now know where to sit. The bar service was good with as decent selection.
