I visited Bright Black with a group of friends on their drop in day on Saturday. It was such an inviting and welcoming experience. I like fragrance or more importantly, I know what I don't like so to be immersed in an experience with fragrance experts and not feel overwhelmed was a great time. We worked with Sacha who was very honest about our blends, gave good feedback, and was a good source of encouragement. You have the ability to create 3 different versions of your scent and choose what most feels like you. You can also save your scent for future use. I liked that added benefit. I am always curious as to how brands like these manage to keep their momentum as it sometimes feels like something you do once but I would definitely come again to create other products. They offer candles too as well as you can purchase premade scents. I feel like the price was very reasonable compared to other similar experiences. I learned about Bright Black on TikTok while looking for perfume making classes in the area. They are a black owned small business! Bright black offers the perfume Workshop every Saturday from 11-5 - walk in only. We got there a little before noon, and we were able to get seated right away. The staff was super friendly and explained each part of the process. There were tons of scents to choose from to create your own perfume oil. It was $35 per person which I didn't think was bad at all! They also sell car air fresheners, lotions, and candles. Most of the fragrances of the candles have a story or meaning behind them which I thought was pretty neat! Apparently next month, they will be offering larger, alcohol based perfume workshop options. When you're done, you have the option to log your scent so that you can have it made again or even have it made into candles which is cool! I really enjoyed my visit to Bright Black and would definitely recommend visiting if in the Raleigh/Durham areas read more

This small business owned by Tiffany & husband is tucked away in a location well known to the locals.The creator lab is unique-inviting- artsy - inspires the senses - I sat down to one of the tables while she brought different delightful notes of fragrances for me to sample.The samples were not overwhelming but invited me to a sense of well being - a positive vibe plus making me smell good to my own self. The art work on the walls carefully placed for enjoyment of the customers- clean lines -aesthetically appealing to the eye- each item meticulously placed on shelves as I looked around.My final product was the fragrance oil with the notes I chose curated my her husband placed in a travel friendly roller vial -a few more purchases - a special gift with purchase - a large heavy candle in a glass container with a lid- As these were gifts I cannot speak to prices however left a very satisfied customer for products & experience. read more

I even got to make a custom fragrance with friends, and we had the BEST time. Not only are the products amazing, but the owners are so dope. I visited the physical store for the first time after winning a silent auction basket containing a sampling of candles. That was two years ago, and I visit several times a year. The candles are beautifully packaged and make my home smell wonderful. I enjoy the shopping experience and people working there, including the owner, seem to recognize me, even on busy days. Not everyone in my circle is local, but I share existence of Bright Black with my friends out of town because this small business packages and ships products. It's been some time ago I visited Bright Black for the grand opening. The store is very nice with beautiful artwork. The staff here is kind and welcoming. I purchased the "Durham" candle. Durham is a blend of tobacco, cotton, and whiskey. These ingredients in the candle smell amazing together. I've enjoyed my candle. I hope to make my way back for more. I find Bright Black candles providing great value for the unique handcrafted candles. read more
