There was no pressure or immediate schedule or routine because she really didn't know what he needed until she met him. She has a way with our son that not only makes him comfortable but makes his learning and therapy fun. Thanks to her he has come a long way in a short amount of time. She really cares about him and his progress and provides play activities that will best enhance his therapy sessions. After a 6 week stay in the NICU, and a G-Tube placement, we started feeding therapy with Teresa through the Golden Gate Regional Center. During our time in the hospital and just after, we met with a number of feeding therapists that were next to no help with us. It was frustrating and sad, especially as new mom. When I met Teresa, I told her upfront that I was having a hard time and that I needed someone that could really help us get to a place where we could wean off our feeding tube. Nearly a year later, my daughter has been tube-free for almost five months, and has been mostly oral for about nine months. So much of our progress has been because of the help I got from Teresa. She has amazing patience, and really listens to what you're saying and offers useful and constructive ways to help. Nothing about it is forced, and along the way, there's also a gentleness in her approach to moving to the next steps. Of all our early intervention providers, Teresa is the one person I really wanted to meet with on a weekly basis because I knew there'd be constructive and helpful takeaways from our meetings. We recently had to relocate out of the state, and I am incredibly sad that I couldn't bring Teresa with us. Hopefully this means that Teresa can now help another family in the same way that she helped ours. Thank you Teresa and SF Speech!

As a parent, what I have so valued about Speech Inc is their thorough, data-driven recording of abilities and progress, and outlining of specific goals that we revisit quarterly. I was a little apprehensive of how engaged my son could be once we had to switch to virtual appointments but have been so impressed with how well his speech therapist has been able to keep him engaged and keep his progress steady. It will be a bittersweet day when he graduates soon!

We started with in office appointments which were great because they have tons of toys for the kids to play with while they're "working" on their speech. The parents usually are sat in the waiting area which is nice and airy. The views are pretty amazing since the office is on the 7th floor. I believe some parents may have left the waiting area to run errands but were always back before the children finished. So there's always that option. However, since the pandemic, offices are closed and we are doing our appointments virtually on Zoom. We are still having great success with progress. The sounds that my son had trouble making while saying certain words has greatly improved. Through Zoom, he was able to get the same help and learn even more words and progress in his journey. Currently our speech pathologist is Kristin. WE LOVE HER! She is super professional, very friendly, flexible and is an absolute sweetheart! She knows how to keep my son's attention and is always super patient with him. We've had office visits with her before the pandemic and even though I was not in the room with my son, I knew he had a great time because he'd be smiling ear to ear when he met me in the waiting area. So if you're looking for virtual appointments or (eventually) in-person appointments, I would definitely recommend Speech Inc.

They took the information and knew how old she was before the intake call. During the call the owner told me that the therapists are not trauma informed and that my daughter would need to attend sessions by herself so that they could be hippa compliant. I find it hard to believe that parents would drop off their 2.5 years old to an appointment. She said that since I practice attachment parenting that it would not be a good fit. I asked her what she thought attachment parenting was to her. I left the appointment feeling that I needed to convince her that we were a good fit for her program. This was something I didn't feel was compatible with the care we are seeking. We were originally seeking support for sensory processing and after speaking with my daughter's therapist that she actually doesn't have sensory processing issues. This could have easily been determined on the call. I would like to share this information in case parents are on the long wait list with their child under 3 that they admitted that they are not well equipped to "accommodate " children of that age. A follow up email wasn't sent which would have been a thoughtful curtesy after such an off putting first impression. I can appreciate that her clinic might not be set up for parents to attend with their children but felt that the way this was communicated with me was insulting and disrespectful. I feel this could have easily been avoided in the initial communication with admin staff.
