It wasn't terrible but it wasn't the greatest. I'll list out the pros and cons... PROS: * Decent price for Manhattan * Functioning stove and oven * Door men are very kind and hold packages * Convenient to many attractions * Washers and dryers on premise w/ coin machine CONS: * Roaches - extremely large roach in the shower while I was showering * Management takes 2-3 days to respond to valid concerns (buzzer not functioning, roaches, broken appliances, entire wall lost power to outlets and lights in living area) * 3/5 with cleanliness * Rooms are furnished with very cheap furniture and appliances. ie. toilet paper roll fell off the wall the day we checked in. A/C unit only works 80% of the time. RED FLAG! - We were told on numerous occasions that we would receive our deposit of $1500 the day we returned the keys. However, that was NOT the case. We were told by Zaure (management) that we wouldn't get it for up to 45 days and it would be sent to our home in LA... she knew the entire time that we had to relocate to another area of NY and needed that deposit back to give to production who was funding our stay. I told her we wouldn't give the keys back until we received the deposit because we had it in WRITING that stated she would give us our deposit the day of checkout. She responded with, "Please don't keep something that isn't yours." The only person(s) keeping anything that wasn't theirs was Bridge Suites withholding our MONEY. Had a large summer project in Manhattan for my work. I decided to hunt for a temporary living accommodations. A friend recommended I check this place out and I'm so glad they did. It was literally half the costs of other similar places but had much nicer amenities and a beautiful courtyard where I like to read and do my paperwork. Close to mass transit and many yummy restaurants. Staff is quick to respond for any needs. Polite and hospitable. The apartment came with everything I needed, fully stocked, bedding, furniture etc. Kitchen was in excellent condition. All I needed was my toiletries and clothing I was ready to rock n roll. I lived at Bridge Suites this last summer (2012) and had a great experience. My friend and I had internships in the city and were looking for something that was affordable and furnished. We looked at the NYU dorms, but didn't really want to be in a dorm setting. We also needed to be there longer than the dorms were open so we found a posting for Bridge Suites on Craigslist. I worked with a guy named Sammy over email. He was very honest and let us know all the details of the apartments. You don't have to pay a fee which is great, because a lot of the other apartments (even thought they were short term) still had some sort of fee built in. Make sure to read over the lease agreement and understand what the fees are. Electricity is $4 a day so you need to add that into the rent you are paying. My roommate and I had a studio with 2 double beds and it was $2100 a month (plus the electricity fee as well as the $200 move out cleaning fee). You do have to put down one month's rent to hold your spot, and they subtract your electricity and cleaning fee's from that. When we moved in in May our room with 2 beds wasn't ready yet, so the first night we had to stay in a different unit with only one bed. This was a horrible experience. It was on the first floor on the street level of one of the buildings, and I can assure you after that night we started to panic that our permanent summer apartment would be the same. It was SO loud and right next to the strip club next door, so we could hear people talking all night, and smell the smoke from people smoking right outside. I didn't sleep one minute. The next day we moved upstairs to our real apartment and it was AMAZING compared to the first unit. We were on the 5th floor (it is a walk up so be prepared) so there was plenty of light. If I were you I would put in the lease that the unit you rent has to be in the back overlooking the courtyard. It was extremely quiet. We didn't even feel like we were in Manhattan. It was tiny, but worked well for us. There were 2 beds, a small table with 2 chairs, a dresser, a television and a tiny kitchen. The kitchen wasn't updated but it did the trick. The closet was small but we made it work. The staff is SO helpful. We loved all of the guys working at the front desk. Whenever we had questions or problems they responded immediately. They hold your packages at the front desk which is great when you are working all day. The location is great also. You are quick 5 minute walk to the 3rd ave/ 60th street station. The more you walk it the quicker and quicker it goes. There are awesome restaurants around. It is quiet at night, but not too quite where you are scared to walk back to your apartment. It was actually nice that there was a strip club next door because there were always bouncers standing outside that were very friendly, and just made you feel safe walking in knowing no one was following you home. Moving out was a breeze. We got our security deposit back a bit later than I was hoping, but I emailed Sammy a few times and it finally showed up back on our credit card. Overall I would recommend this apartment to friends. The minus one star is really only because of that first night. If you are going to be in NY just for a few months, stay at the Bridge Suites!! read more

I was looking for a place to stay in Manhattan for 2 months for work. I found the Bridge Suites online and ended up renting a furnished studio apartment. When I arrived, the move in process was a pretty easy, the doorman gave me the keys and helped me with my bags. The studio had a queen size bed, a kitchen with pretty much all appliances (except for a dishwasher machine). Nice closet space and a private bathroom. The apartment was a newly renovated unit facing the 1st avenue. I really enjoyed my stay and got my security deposit back pretty quickly. Keep in mind utilities are not included and there is a $200.00 cleaning fee which is deducted from the deposit. read more

I needed a place to stay for four months because I was doing an internship in Manhattan. I did not want to get a hotel, air b&b, or a regular apartment lease. I also did not want to share a room with a stranger (or even a friend), and I did not want to have to commute from the boroughs. The Bridge Suites satisfied all of these requirements because they did short-term leases, had fully furnished apartments + amenities, and was close to where I was interning. It is not a luxurious or chic place to stay, but it is comfortable and clean and homey. There is a beautiful inner courtyard. My room faced the very busy Queensborough bridge and there was also a lot of noise from the nightclub down the road on Friday/Saturday nights, but other than that I was very satisfied. I was supposed to have another room, but due to a last-minute mistake on the management's part, they accommodated me in a nice studio with a kitchen + appliances, queen-sized bed, sofa bed, and two windows. The bathroom was fine too, and there were laundry machines in the apartment complex. The wifi worked well, and if it did not work, I could contact someone from the management and they always solved the problem on the spot. The people at Bridge Suites were all very kind and helpful. When I said my apartment was too cold, they provided me with a portable heater. They also unclogged my sink when I discovered that some knives had fallen in. They were always very understanding and accommodating. I loved the location, even though the nearest subway stop is relatively far away (2nd or 3rd ave). I do a lot of walking anyway so it is not a priority for me, but if proximity to public transport is important to you, bear that in mind. Overall I would absolutely stay at Bridge Suites again! read more

I stayed this summer for 2 months. Couple of notes: 1) Apartment is decent for manhattan, but nothing like picture 2) Stay in an apartment facing courtyard 3) There is a mandatory $200 cleaning fee 4) Even though the landlord pays $30 per month of gas and electric, I ended up paying an extra $70 out of pocket. I didn't have any lights or AC on during the day and was home only to sleep. 5) You need to initiate a call to company to start process of getting your security deposit back. I waited for more than the 45 days and no deposit. I had to call after and tell them that I have not received my deposit back. 5) Wifi didn't work most of the time. 6) Location is great! Went to see an apt here for a friend coming to nyc and boy oh boy I did not know it would like like a 2 star hotel. The lobby looks like my great grandmother's living room, the pictures are not accurate for the unit you're seeing, not to mention sketchy people are on the corners just hanging out. Did I mention it's in a poor location? If you're going to pay big bucks to stay in Manhattan, don't stay 3 avenues over from a subway and beneath a bridge o_o The front desk was okay, except they spoke a foreign language the entire time I was there (super rude) and made me wait 30 minutes to see a place after I confirmed with management to see a unit earlier in the day. I stayed at Bridge Suites in June 2011 when I moved to NYC. The apartment did not even closely resembled the pictures posted here: its was filthy, dark and unwelcoming. I will post some real pictures of this place on Trip Advisor. Some of the tenants were also very loud making it hard to rest at night. There was a "lady" (read a hooker) upstairs from my apartment who was making noise all night long! Steven, the slimeball manager, insisted that she was a "model". Right. The slimeball also wanted to charge me $200 for cleaning, which I did not pay. The place was filthy to begin with... The slimeball also has a very interesting way of accounting for the amount of electricity used, meaning that he charges tenants for the entire billing period even if they commenced renting the apartment. Good location with all your needs within easy distance. Super helpful and attentive staff who went out of their way to help and resolve any issue quickly. Rooms are comfortable, clean and relatively well equipped - not luxurious and a bit dated, but everything worked OK. I stayed almost 4 months on and off, in several rooms and it was a bit variable as to what came with the room. I recently had family in from out-of-town, that were on an extended stay. I was looking for something a step-up from a hotel. I found bridge suites and decided it was the best way to go among other options i looked into. The location could not have been better. Just a few blocks from central park and times square, my family had easy access to all that NYC has to offer. The room and service was great as well. A fully furnished one bedroom apartment. The living room sofa also converted to a bed, which was great to accommodate all 3 of them. A fully functioning kitchen allowed them too cook at the times when they didn't want to go to restaurant. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. If you need a temporary place to live for 1 month or more, I would highly recommend Bridge Suites. read more

I stayed twice at the Bridge Suites and was very happy with my stay both times. The apartments are immaculately clean upon arrival and all the necessary supplies are provided for a comfortable stay (silverware, pots/pans, iron, etc). Although my first apartment was right under the bridge, I was not disturbed by the noise. I also have to give 5 stars for the manager, Zaure. She really went above and beyond to make sure my stay at the Bridge Suites was wonderful both times; I also received my security deposit with no problem the day I checked out.The location was perfect for me and I loved the neighborhood as well. I recently toured Bridge Suites in the hopes of finding a short-term rental. Despite an attractive description online, I was disappointed to find the following characteristics when I visited: 1) The apartment's entrance is directly next to Sapphire, a 'gentleman's club' 2) It overlooks an on/offramp to the Queensborough Bridge. Noise level was considerable 3) The suites are not well maintained and do not resemble the photos in advertisements. I stayed there recently for 2 months. I was told they had no apartments to rent under $2600. The next day my coworker called and was given a quote of $2300. When I called back they denied it. I was desperate so I took it anyway. Beyond that, here is the good and the bad. Pros 1. Close to subway, restaurants, and midtown attractions. 2. The staff was always helpful and quick to respond to any problems. Cons 1. If your apt is facing the street, prepare for a lot of noise 2. No elevator 3. It's an old building so the photos are not representative of actual apt 4. Pipes often banged endlessly in the middle of the night 5. The place was not very clean upon moving in 6. No laundry room. 7. It took a month to get my deposit back and that was after 2 phone calls. 8. WiFi and utilities are extra. I believe I paid over $100 a month for internet Even though I was told utilities were extra and there was a cleaning fee, I was surprised they took 1/3 of my deposit. I am currently staying at the Bridge Suites: please avoid this place by every means: 1/ cocoraches everywhere in the apartment. On the bed, under the bed, in the kitchen, everywhere. Tons of them. 2/The police came to knock on my door last week, a woman was allegedly abusing a child on the same floor 3/ The toilet of the apartement are blocked every 2 days, which creates a flow of dirty water in all the apartement. 4/The person that works here is going to take your money upfront for the entire duration of your staying, Even if you are staying for 6 weeks. 5/ The contract for the lease will say: "200 dollars cleaning fee." after a discussion with the staff, "cleaning fee" is not to clean the apartement, it is the fee for cleaning the apartement once you will leave the apartement. In other word, the one hour of cleaning once you'll leave, will cost you 200 dollars 6/ this place is unsafe for peoples health considering the amount of roaches and the sanitary issues with the toilet. read more

Stayed here for 3 weeks as my work booked it. Would not recommend. The rooms are not anything like the advertised pictures. The reception staff are normally absent or incompetent. the check in took so long it could almost have been a comedy sketch. The worst bit is the noise of honking, as its on the main artery into manhattan. This noise never stops. Never. Its made worse by the gentleman's cub that is next door to many of the apartments and consequently the honking of taxi pick ups at 4 in the morning. I finally got moved to another apartment it was better but still not great. The furniture is falling apart and the place looks like it needs a good deep clean. If you were staying here longer term you might be able to clean and do somethings to make it look better but for a short term visit it is not up to standard. read more

We have just finished a six-month stay at Bridge Suites, in one of the furnished studio apartments facing First Avenue. This place was ideal for our need, to accommodate a temporary stay in New York for an internship. It is not one of those sterile, expensive corporate apartments you find in major cities. It's more about living like New Yorkers do. These are older apartments with a bit of character/ The apartments are typical New York walkups, but they have everything you need to be self-sufficient. There is an on-site laundry room, centrally provided wi-fi, etc. The whole complex is clean and very well managed. We must particularly comment on how attentive the manager Zaure is. We only had one maintenance issue and that was dealt with in minutes, and Zaure is very communicative and prompt to respond to any query. Her team is quite helpful as well. My conclusion is that if you want to live like a New Yorker on your temporary stay in the city - not spend months in a hotel room - this is a very good option. read more

The apartment building is horrible and the management is unprofessional and incompetent. The rooms do not resemble the advertised pictures at all. The furniture is falling apart and quite frankly, very disgusting. My entire unit smelled like gas. There were also cockroaches and my neighbors left their bags of trash out in the hallway for days at a time. I repeatedly told the doormen about this, but they didn't do anything to help solve the problem. The internet does not work 90% of the time, and when it does work, it's incredibly slow (I'm not exaggerating). Despite this, the management has the audacity to ask for payment for the internet (which, by the way, is $100 a month and is a huge rip-off). I also didn't have a smoke detector or carbon monoxide detector, which is in violation of New York law and very dangerous for obvious reasons. My television and oven were broken. There are rats in the courtyard (and so despite the fact that it's advertised as a nice little area and perk, it's disgusting). The laundry machines also have not been working for the past few months. When I moved in, I asked the doorman when it would be fixed, and he said it'd be a few days. That was 3 months ago. I continue to ask every week, and every week I get the response "Next week." Don't live here. It's a huge rip-off. I complain almost daily and nothing is every fixed. The people are thieves. There're a bunch of other similarly priced apartments nearby - I would recommend one of those. Just stay away from this place. They don't deserve your money. The only redeeming features of this building are the doormen. They're nice and they try to be helpful, but ultimately they respond is management and they honestly can't really do anything except say "sorry." On the other hand, though, I complained to quite a few different doormen so that they could reach out to management, but the doormen never communicated with one another nor did they fix any problems. Below is the story of my daughter, an international student mislead to pay money (we paid as she is still a student) for accommodation in New York for one month for an apartment with glorious web pages and photos. Several other international students had similar experience. They are willing to talk about their experience as well. My daughter came to New York for one month elective in Weill Cornell. Before we arrived New York, we booked an apartment in Bridge Suites (351, 60st St, NY 10022) www.bridgesuites.com based on web page, photos and email photos we received from the apartment manager. The manager of the property insisted us to pay full rent $3000 and deposit $1000 in cash and we paid $4000 by direct bank transfer with Bank of America. Upon our arrival, we are shocked to see the condition of the building, apartment, complex. We are misled with the web page description and photos. We could not stay there even for few minutes. It is smelly, run down and not the same as described on the web page, photos and emails. We were told that that apartment will be temporary for 2 days as the other better one will be vacated in 2 days. We refused to move in as my daughter did not feel safe and secured there. We wanted to take pictures but the manager refused us to take pictures saying that the apartment needs cleaning. The front desk person took us to another apartment which was slightly better than but still not as glorious as described on the web page. We walked out and started calling around for a place to stay and ultimately found a hotel and stayed there for 2 nights. I requested manager to meet us and finalize the refund of money and also let us take the pictures of Bridge Suites. He could not meet. He did not let us take pictures saying that the apartment needs cleaning. I took some pictures with permission of the front desk person and it is not that difficult to prove what is described on web page is quite different than what actually it is. We contacted manager and requested him to refund our money. He refused to refund our money saying that we signed our agreement and we accepted apartment in "As Is" condition before our arrival in New York. After few phone calls, he agreed to refund security deposit of $1000 and rent of $500 but refused to refund rest of the $2500. He sent an email saying that if I take further steps in complaining, he will not refund the even the $500 he is willing to refund now. We lodged complaint with Bank of America to get refund of money but they could not help as the payment was not made with credit card or debit card. I expressed my concerns about this apartment complex to person in charge for international students at Weill Cornell and she said that she heard so many unpleasant experiences by international students with that particular apartment complex. She told that some other students are charged several months rent upfront and manager refused to refund any money for them to move to another place. Even though these international students are facing unpleasant experiences and they are left with no choice other than staying there due to upfront payment of rent and deposit. I met some of the students who narrated their horrible experience with The Bridge Suites apartment complex and helpless situation as they paid money upfront. They are willing to talk about their experience as well. I am sure that there are several other students who must have gone through this but never voiced their concerns. I do not think that it is appropriate for international students to go through this. It reflects poorly on New York and USA. Weill Cornell agreed to remove Bridge Suites from their list due to unpleasant experiences of international students. It is good that I came with my daughter. Otherwise, she would have been stuck with that apartment similar to other students. We strongly recommend not to get trapped into this scam. Their web page description is misleading. The place is shabby and rundown. Incredible price and you will be trapped into it by upfront paying. read more
