I grew up in the New Auburn area so I know Bridge Stop from it's fledgling days. It's really the only gas station and convenience center in town so if you need some staples like milk or eggs, a snack or even lotto tickets and smokes, this is the place to go. I remember the days when it was a much smaller station, less pumps and nothing other than a few random coolers for pop and frozen pizzas. They obviously figured out that being in a one-horse-town really required them to offer more. They expanded on the store. Now they offer video rentals, a small selection of grocery and even other stuff like fishing bait and fishing/hunting licenses. They cater to the trucker that needs to make a fuel stop on the way up highway 53. It's conveniently located right off the freeway and is easy to get in and out of there.
The pumps are newer but I had something happen to me the last time I gassed up there that makes me a little worried. I have never had this happen to me so I was shocked. It's colder than hades right now so I put the pump nozel in the tank, snapped it open and then got back in the car. Every gas pump I have ever used will automatically stop pumping when the tank is full. Not this one!!!! Thank got I heard the "snap" of the pump when it got full and got out of the car. I was horrified to see gas pouring out of my car and the pump was still running! I quickly shut it off and skirted the small gas pool at my feet. Now I know to stand and hold the pump nozel myself! So just a fair warning to those of you that take refuge in your car while the gas pumps on it's own (or if you clean your windows while it pumps). Also, I don't know if it was just the cold but I had to fill up at this station twice in 4 days. I got really crappy mileage with their gas! read more
