I've been told it's not a real trip to Wisconsin unless you make a stop at Kwik Trip! Funny story: we were fishing all day, again, and didn't catch enough fish to feed all six of us more than a light snack! So we looked for some alternative ideas for dinner and the other four suggested B&B Bar and Grill for sandwiches and Pizza. It was just before 10pm and their hours were to 11pm so we decided to order for take out. Except that when we called, they said their kitchen was closed and they were closing early. That was the second time this has happened to us the other time being Main Street Cafe in Bloomer after a 20 minute drive due to lack of staff showing up! So we checked Yelp for more ideas until someone suggested Kwik Trip may have Pizza! We called them and they did have pizzas so we ordered a Large 4 Meats Pizza and a Large Supreme Pizza for take out and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Since they were only a few blocks away we figured out the timing and went to pick it up. When I arrived the order was hot and ready to go, and only $23 and change; what a deal. While I was there I noticed they had a cooler with more choices of pizzas to take and bake. All this and friendly service as well! Oh, and the pizzas were very good taste and quality! read more

The Chetek Kwik Trip seems to be the city hub - the whole city shops there and it's always busy. If you're looking for beer, gas, or some incredibly unhealthy gas station fried food, then this is the place for you! The staff is always friendly and helpful, but the parking lot is a hot mess, and an accident waiting to happen, just because it's so busy and literally busting at the seams, particularly on the weekends when visitors are in town. read more

This is the place to hang out in when you're in Chetek Wisconsin ha-ha. Just kidding about the above statement, well maybe, I don't live here so I don't know where people hang out. Anyway, good place to pick up all the necessities for a day on the lake and night drinking by a fire. read more

So, this brings me to today.... Circle K has lost $91,375 in purchases from just me, since then, & still no place to lock my expensive bike & alternate "green" & healthy form of transportation. There for I am reduced to having to now boycott & picket, this business, & bring in as many locals who also agree on this subject/concern. The Country Lane Pantry has really good marketing as I kept seeing this name appear on multiple signs in the small town of Barron. While they don't sell coffee, they do have a wide variety of baked goods, baking materials such as spices, cookie cutters, fruits, nuts, cheeses, crackers, fudge, candy, etc. A very similar feeling to a co-op, this place even sells outdoor patio furniture, bird feeders, dog houses, etc. The home decor items are outside where the food remains inside. Service was nice and the longer line went fairly quick. One register up front for purchase transactions and one in the back for buying cheese and fudge.

I do like the self service area when I can do it myself, but most of the time I use cash and have to be forced to repacking my groceries when I get to the car. The best reason to go there is the Caribou Coffee shop. They are the best. Far better in taste compared to the Starbucks one, oh and the service is down to earth and friendly. I'll stop there regardless if I need any groceries or not whenever I'm in Rice Lake.

It's really the…read moreonly gas station and convenience center in town so if you need some staples like milk or eggs, a snack or even lotto tickets and smokes, this is the place to go. I remember the days when it was a much smaller station, less pumps and nothing other than a few random coolers for pop and frozen pizzas. They obviously figured out that being in a one-horse-town really required them to offer more. They expanded on the store. Now they offer video rentals, a small selection of grocery and even other stuff like fishing bait and fishing/hunting licenses. They cater to the trucker that needs to make a fuel stop on the way up highway 53. It's conveniently located right off the freeway and is easy to get in and out of there. The pumps are newer but I had something happen to me the last time I gassed up there that makes me a little worried. I have never had this happen to me so I was shocked. It's colder than hades right now so I put the pump nozel in the tank, snapped it open and then got back in the car. Every gas pump I have ever used will automatically stop pumping when the tank is full. Not this one!!!! Thank got I heard the "snap" of the pump when it got full and got out of the car. I was horrified to see gas pouring out of my car and the pump was still running! I quickly shut it off and skirted the small gas pool at my feet. Now I know to stand and hold the pump nozel myself! So just a fair warning to those of you that take refuge in your car while the gas pumps on it's own (or if you clean your windows while it pumps). Also, I don't know if it was just the cold but I had to fill up at this station twice in 4 days. I got really crappy mileage with their gas!
