With all of the liquor store reviews I do people are going to start to wonder. Keg Liquors is…read morepretty far from where I live and yet I still make a special trip up here every 3 months or some. I'm a craft beer guy. Keg gets several beers that aren't distributed to Kentucky. That alone makes them above the grade. Every time I come here the is constantly a new selection of beer that I haven't tried yet. While I haven't purchased anything else other than beer from Keg, they have a big selection of wine and other spirits. The staff has always been friendly to me and when I'm bringing a huge load home, they help carry the boxes to my truck. If you are a fan of craft beer and enjoy a place that is constantly replenishing their stock with new beer that you have never had, the Keg Liquors your place. Its worth the drive and crossing the toll bridge.

A liquor store is a liquor store, right? Wrong. Here's why I bravely cross the state line to come…read morehere. 1. Unmatched selection. Anything available in southern Indiana is available here. A good selection of wines and booze, but for my money, it's bitchin for brew. Countless imports, plenty of micros from around the country, and when New Albanian has a special release, it's guaranteed to be on these shelves. 2. You can mix and make your own six pack. This can be hugely beneficial when you're staring at a fridge with ten kinds of pumpkin ale that look identical. 3. Indiana ain't Kentucky, and consequently, their distributors carry brands that don't find their way across the Ohio, including some Indiana brewers (e.g., Sun King) and some national (New Belgium). 4. They periodically schedule free tastings, usually with representatives from the brewery/winery/distributor present. Wine tastings about once a month. Seasonal beer tastings several times a year. Check their events page.

While Happy Hour has some great values (esp the grilled oysters), you're going to want to save room for some main menu items. In the wide ranging menu, it's hard to choose an approach. Whatever you do -- Flavors pop, portions shareable (if you order at least 2 items per person or are on GLP-1 drugs), cocktails are inventive, thoughtful wine /beer options. Great service. Wish there had been 4 quail halves. Beet and barley salad was generous. Dirty mushroom rice not a true table share if more than 2 people. Boiled peanut lagniappe was perfect while perusing the menu. It's a little dark (in a good way !) with super cute booths tucked into giant bourbon barrels as well as table and bar seating. New Orleans style jazz versions of modern songs surprise over the speakers. For sure a forever stop for us when in the area.

Goes without saying we had bourbon drinks with big rocks. 4 of us split an Asian inspired oxtail noodle dish, some fried chicken gumbo, a rice dish called 'burgoo' ( I think...basically a really nice jambalaya situation), collards, and a crab dip. Kind of a flavor explosion one after the other. Server coursed things out super nicely. For sure, recommend.

Even a good "in between" section where it's covered but they can lift up the doors. The bun on our burger did come out hard a rock but they immediately took it back and remade it as soon as we mentioned it. Great drink selections for beer, wine and cocktails. We were in last week for dinner, for a dual Birthday celebration and had a larger group of about 20 people. We sat in the front room, and it was rather warm in there, but it was an unusually hot day for mid-September. There was only one other couple there when me and my husband arrived and it took a while for the server to come over and ask if we wanted drinks. By the time he did, several other people had arrived, and they all got their drinks before we did. It even took forever to get our drinks; we could see them dying at the bar waiting to be ran. I'll be honest, the service wasn't the best, it was obvious the server might have been newer in the sense of experience with a large party. He was very friendly and had a great demeanor but was extremely forgetful, which he mentioned several times. Once everyone was settled, we started with Appetizers. The Goat Cheese Fritters, with Bacon Date Aioli, Honey and Parsley are always my go to. They are small little goat cheese balls deep fried to perfection and delicious every time. For dinner we shared the Bone-In Pork Schnitzel that has a Tonkatsu Glaze, Sauerkraut, charred lemon and Japanese potato salad, and a side of mac n cheese. The Pork was extremely dry and flavorless and there was no glaze on it. The mac n cheese was just okay. One of my friends got the Braised Short Rib Adobo (brown beech & crimini mushrooms, creamy risotto) and let me have a taste. Let's just say I was extremely jealous I chose the wrong entrée for dinner, it was so good!

Fortunately, he knows and tells you to ring the door bell. You do and you are buzzed in. And that is Sergio's from the outside. No really. The only sign that tips you off there is a bar here is the Chimay sign hanging on the outside of the building. Inside, there are 29 doors of coolers, a walk in cooler, and a refrigerator full of beer. And organized by all of the countries. This place is the brainchild of Sergio Ribenboim, an avid beer "collector". I get here every time I get to Louisville. One of my favorite spots (if you are on untappd, Sergio has over 37,000 beers checked in and more than 28,000 uniques). This time I tried the food, as people were raving about it. The feijoada was very nice. The fish and chips, not so much. Not surprising the feijoada was the star as Sergio is from Brazil. Nuff said? What can you find here? What can't you find here. On one of my previous trips, I found some Estonian stouts. On tap, there are more than 30 beers. And Sergio is stickler for putting beer in the correct glass. This is one of the most quirky taprooms you will ever visit. And you will likely come back. Maybe not for the food, but for the beer, the uniqueness, and Sergio.

The drinks are well made, the bartenders are friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe makes it easy to stay longer than you planned. It feels cozy, well put together, and genuinely enjoyable. We've had consistently good experiences and would absolutely recommend giving The Earl a try if you're in New Albany.

If this place were called "Steve's" or something and had more mundane lighting, I'd wrap my head around it more easily. Prices seem reasonable but portions are smaller than you'll get elsewhere. There's a few on draft, some alright cocktails and a limited food menu. I opted for the pretzel bread and pimento spread and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the freshness, texture, and taste! Music selections fluctuate both genres and volumes. Clientele is pretty relaxed. Its a go-to spot after 10 p.m.
