I really really want to live this place. They are a non profit bridal store that sells heavily discounted dresses and accessories. All the proceeds go to charities that support women. Great cause, great prices, events and sales, convenient location. However the service is lacking and the condition of many of the dresses is not great, requiring extensive repairs in addition to standard alterations and also needed dry cleaning. That made the seemingly affordable price tag, nearly the same as a new dress. I was deciding between two dresses here and ultimately ended up buying one custom from a local shop due to the condition of the dresses and lack of service and support at Brides for a Cause. It's a shame because I wanted to love this place and support them. For nearby brides on a budget and looking for a better service experience and better condition dresses, try Blue Sky Bridal in Greenlake instead. I LOVED my experience here. When researching shops, what stood out to me was that this shop donates part of the proceeds to women and girl-focused causes. I was already feeling some type of way about expecting to spend hundreds of dollars on a dress for my wedding. While I didn't want to spend thousands on a dress, I also wanted to choose a beautiful dress fitting for one of the most important days of my life. Here, I found my gown for a little over $800 (original price was almost $3000). Score. Granted, do know most of these dresses are gently worn/previously-owned and may have small imperfections. I have no gripes about this. I get to be the lucky bride caring for this dress at this time and with tailoring/altering, no problem. What I wasn't expecting was to find my dress so early into my dress shopping. My hope was to try on different styles and figure out what kinds of styles I liked best. My dress was the third one I pulled off the rack, second I tried on. Everything else paled in comparison. That's how I knew...but was initially nervous to commit. That's when the staff assured me finding your dress early on happens more often at their shop than you think. Their shop has a wider variety of options and styles than a big box bridal shop. When I looked up my specific dress, the nearest shop to carry it is in Canada. This whole experience was lovely and I am grateful for the wonderful service and kindness of the staff. I went previously to the Tacoma location before coming here and I will say I preferred this one way more! I feel like this location had more variety in sizes 16-18 and I tried on so many beautiful dresses! They only let you try on 15 dresses during your appointment. I will say we were kinda uncomfortable with one of the ladies whenever we caught a glimpse of her I felt like she was judging everyone really hard, and definitely made the vibe bad. I will say though we were helped by Maya and she was amazing! She was carrying this store and helping everyone so much, and she put a beautiful veil on me. Firstly, I love the premise of this place. Thank you for putting some proceeds toward women- and girl-focused charities!! The Seattle store is a little more cramped than I thought it would be based on the videos I've seen on social media from other locations. They allow you + three guests, and though they give you a time limit (I think an hour? I forget), they are lenient about it, so if you're not done by the time your appointment is over, they'll let you stay a little longer to finish up. They had a good selection of dresses, but just know that because a lot of these are second-hand, there may be some imperfections like a little tear or a missing button or a subtle stain. But they're priced with that in mind, so the cost isn't as much as a new dress. I didn't end up finding a dress I loved, but that's ok. There were plenty of great dresses, and I almost went with a cute midi Marilyn-Monroe-esque dress for $250, but ended up passing on it because there happens to be something on Etsy I like more. Staff was available to help, but they're hands-off and only check-in every once in a while. I prefer it this way because I was worried about feeling pressured to buy a dress. The whole shopping experience felt organized and quick. My sisters helped me put on the dress, but the staff can help if you ask. They had a really big selection and I tried on about 13 dresses in 1 hour. Wild! You just grab the dresses and bring them to the fitting room to try on. Many of the dresses come with subtle imperfections, but that's why they're priced so affordably. For the price of the dress, you can easily get the dress cleaned or altered and the overall dress will still be under budget. There were also some unworn dresses. I ended up scoring an unworn dress. I felt myself running out of options to try pretty quickly, but that is understandable with consignment! After a period of dressing shopping here and at other stores, I eventually figured out the style I was going for. I came here a couple weeks ago to find my dream wedding dress. I'm not super picky and I definitely opt out on spending an arm and a leg for a dress I'm going to be wearing for one night. I tried on about 6 dresses, going in there I thought I liked the lace style but it wasn't for me. I was able to return back with the dress of choice for a whooping $615, $705 after tax. I love love love how friendly the staff were and how helpful and sweet they were. I would Recommend Bride for a Cause any day. This was the first bridal store I have ever gone to and my experience could not have been better. One thing I did not know (and I probably should've done my research) was that the dresses there were exclusively donated by brides and bridal stores. Some of the dresses were used and in a good condition, while some are new (never worn to a wedding) but have been used as try-on samples. After scheduling an appointment online, I went there on a weekday and was the only customer there. Staff was incredibly helpful. She allowed me to take my time choosing the dresses to try on, and after seeing my styles, she helped me pick out a few dresses without being pushy. The fitting rooms were big and with a good lighting. My daughter wanted to support a business that was helping the community when purchasing her wedding dress. We went to Brides for a Cause because of that. What a massive disappointment. They presented some dresses to her, and then put on the sales-job for one particular one. We purchased it based on their "glowing comments ". We were not advised of any significant problems with the dress. The dress was taken to a professional seamstress, who started work on it. After 12 hours of beading repair, she contacted us to discuss. The work was less than half done, and would entail at least 40 more hours of repair work to the beading, torn lace, ribbing in the bodice, and stains. She was shocked that none of this was pointed out to us during the try-on in the store. We have spent several hundred dollars at this point on a dress and repairs, that will probably only be suitable for disposal. These people only want to sell. They are supposed to be experts, and were wholly dishonest with us. Stay away! read more

My friend came down from Canada to try on dresses and I made an appointment for her here. We showed up and were immediately dismissed and left on our own. So we wandered around the store looking at dresses by ourselves. The store is overwhelmingly full of dresses, so this task is not an easy one. We spent 25-30 minutes of our hour we booked just searching for dresses, which I may be wrong, but I feel like it's the employees job to pull things for the bride as they know the dresses better and locations of them. When she finally was able to try dresses on we got absolutely zero help putting them on her or pinning or any service at all. I don't really see the point in booking an appointment if it's the same shopping experience as going to a Macys. The prices of the dresses are great, but if you're looking for a bridal experience, this is NOT IT. But on another note, I've also been to the brides for a cause down in Tacoma, and that was great. I love the fact that this place donates money for buying a dress. They have a large variety and change of inventory very frequent. These dresses come from either floor samples from other bridal stores or donated from a bride. These dresses are prices so well. I had high hopes my daughter would find a dress here. We will be back for sure to check out new stock. The place only allows the bride look amounght the racks for dresses for covid reasons. I get it. But they allow the Mom to come and help you try on the dress once it is picked out. They take covid protocol 100%. Masks at all times and wash your hands. Note that my appointment occurred June 2020 It was very easy to make an appointment and I was a little bummed I was only able to bring 2 guests but completely understood and supported their requirements. At this point you should know what type/condition of dresses you can expect at Brides for A Cause so yes you might need to dry clean your dress, or get some buttons replaced, lace repaired, etc but that's normal. I was fortunate to be a fairly common size (street size 6-8 so bride size 10-12) so there were tons of dresses to choose from. Since your appointment time is limited I'd suggest coming here once you have a better idea of the style of dress you'd like. I had gone to a few other boutiques before so this made it much easier to focus on dress styles I wanted. My sister and mom were rockstars helping me in and out of dresses, I probably tried on about 10-12 (the associate said most people average less than that but I'm a quick changer and decision maker.) The associates are friendly and helpful but don't expect constant attention and assistance, they'll pull dresses if you tell them what you're looking for but are also assisting other brides. I narrowed it down to a few but wasn't in love so after my warning for "last call" I went back one more time and grabbed one last dress. This actually happened to be the dress I ended up choosing. Once I made my choice the associates clipped me in so I could better visualize the dress after alterations and even walked me through some veil options. I absolutely loved my dress and felt like myself but Bridal which I think is the best best best way to feel on your wedding day. The associate rang me up and gave me a helpful list of seamstresses. I visited this Green Lake Seattle location twice and ultimately found my dream dress on that second visit (I made appointments each time). I tried out 1 other more traditional wedding dress shop and have been to others with friends, but found that Brides for a Cause was way less stuffy and I could try on WAY more dresses in a short amount of time. Staff were all friendly, giving compliments and not being too pushy about time limits or dress limits or anything. I loved that I felt beautiful there each time I visited. I ended up getting a Maggie Sottero dress for a fraction of the price, and I couldn't even tell was previously worn. I had a wonderful experience today at the Seattle location of Brides for a Cause. The customer service experience was excellent, and it was a wonderful place for someone like me who prefers to shop alone and keep things low key. They were friendly and informative when I arrived. The dresses are arranged in racks by street size which was helpful for me since bridal sizing is variable and usually runs a couple sizes smaller. You're able to try on up to five dresses at a time with a max dress try on of 15 per each one-hour appointment. I ended up getting a gorgeous sample dress that was about 25% would I have paid retail. It's definitely not the bridal boutique experience so if you have a couple good friends with you and willing to sift through the rack, you could likely find your gown at an extremely reasonable price. Keep in mind alterations can go anywhere from 400 to 1000 as a basic estimate. Many places are not transparent about alteration prices, as it is offered through the wedding dress boutiques. If you fall in love with a dress at the top of your price point it's going to cost $400- $1000 more. I can't say enough good things about BFAC, the organization as a whole and its charitable focus (amid an industry that is more often than not, the antithesis), and the staff of the Seattle store in particular. I have consistently been wowed by the staff and management of this location. The store is always clean and organized, and the staff was always welcoming, making everything run seamlessly - from offering to carry dresses to your room as you browse (they're heavy!) to offering thoughtful suggestions for tailoring, design, or other gowns to try. In pandemic times, and being a Seattle transplant, I was also often shopping alone and the staff made the hairy process of trying on wedding dresses (think: fish and eye hooks, buttons galore, a million layers of tulle and lace, complex zippers) a breeze, while also being polite and gracious. I had set myself a budget of $300 and was hopeful I could stay within that budget. When we arrived to my appointment, staff was clear, compassionate, and efficient in explaining how to make the most of our one hour appointment. They were also having a buy one get one free sale on bridesmaids dresses, and my two bridesmaids also found the dresses that they're going to wear to the wedding. Overall I only spent $320, and my girls split the cost of their dresses and paid $25 each. Staff also showed us best practices in putting the dresses on, making sure they fit right, and suggesting alterations that might help a dress feel better.
