Okay, eight months later.... we were told at our first visit that the dress would be in the shop for initial fitting at the end of January. Well one month passed and my daughter was making calls about the status. Mid-Feb rolls around and my daughter pops by to find out what has happened....the dress came in in JANUARY and they didn't know where it was!!!! REALLY!?!? AND it was the wrong color! REALLY!?!? The first time I came it was just me and my mom and the shop was empty so we got everyone's attention it was great. We ended up pushing back our wedding by a year and they had no problem storing my dress at the shop free of charge ! 1st fitting - our appointment was at 630pm in a Friday and we arrived at 6. The shop is FULL and they seem to be running behind but we still didn't have to wait to long. The staff was super friendly and blew me away. I wanted sleeves that could be detachable and they did it. I was particularly looking for a bridal shop that seemed exclusive in order to receive a non stressful memorable dress shopping experience. As soon as I walked into store I was addressed aggressively by an employee. I was sized from head to to toe to ring. The employee condescendingly asked me questions as if I was doing her a favor to be in the store. Long story short I did not feel like an excited bride to be and left before I could even browse dresses. Is this how you talk to potential customers? Went wedding dress shopping here with a friend for her wedding dress. They never called her to confirm her appointment. While we were there, they were calling other brides to confirm though so I'm assuming they accidentally skipped her. We arrived 10 minutes early and at first they were unable to find her in the system as having an appointment. Finally, they found her appointment. They set us up where her runway would be and the couch and the chair. We had the first runway. Another bride came in and the shop had overbooked and told us we were going to share our runway with this bride for about 30 minutes because it was her last time trying on the dress. This was odd since it was their mistake that they overbooked, yet we had to share what should be a special session. We went to go pick out dresses for her while the other bride tried on her dress. It took longer than 30 minutes. I asked one of the women working at the shop if we would have longer than the 1.5 hours given for the appointment time since over 30 minutes had already been used for the other bride. She replied "that should be possible." Luckily we were given 2 hours and 10 minutes. They definitely corrected the situation but still each bride should be given their time and their own area. Sharing a runway or fitting room should never be an option, especially if the shop makes a mistake. read more

Heard good things about this place and it did not disappoint. Located in a strip mall, parking was not a problem. The store overall is not that big but the choices of dresses is huge! Unlike some other bridal shop websites I checked out, I liked how Elena's had a picture of the dress AND THE PRICE! You could shop according to your budget so not to fall in love with something you can't afford. Prices were reasonable, I mean all wedding dresses are expensive but these ran from about $1500-$3500. I called and made an appointment for a Friday night. I really liked the set up. The "stage" where brides stand not only had a fill length mirror but a camera facing the back. TV screens allowed the bride to see the back of the dress so they didn't have to turn around or rely on someone to take a picture. The lady who helped me was very nice and I was surprised at the amount of dresses I was able to try on! She really had an eye for fit and pinned/clipped/whatever you in the dress to make it look perfect. She never got frustrated with my inability to make a decision or hurried me along, even though they were past closing time. She also was so patient with my four year old niece that was getting very antsy by the end. She even helped her in a flower girl dress even though we had no intention of purchasing. My experience at this bridal shop started off fairly good. She got to know me in the beginning asked about my wedding. Asked who I brought with me which did make me feel like she cared because I have brought my maid of honor and two of my bridesmaids obviously that was not my entire wedding partyWasn't there my mom was not there. My mother-in-law was not there like other family members weren't there because I wanted to figure out what I wanted or what I liked before I actually brought in more people, but that's neither here nor there said she she got to know about my wedding. She got to know a bit about who was with me and then she took me around the store. Had me pick out dresses that I liked, she took me to a room and told me well. These are plus size dresses and proceeds to start pulling out dresses to show me mind you I'm a size 2, which meant that she should've been pulling me dresses that were a size 4 or a size 6 she showing me dresses that were like 18 on up and then after she starts to show me these dresses, she says well this isn't your size so I'm gonna take you to the other room she takes me to the other room shows me around there and then says well you can go get your girls and they can start to pull some dresses for you so I go and get my girls and they start to pull some dresses that they would like dresses that they like also, she goes to my bridesmaids you I did not really peep that she was also pulling dresses that she liked because I was so excited and so overjoyed with the experience made of honor my best friend and sister informs me that Miss Elena had told her that her dress choice was too basic and that shouldn't have been the look that I was going for so she takes the dress out of her hand and put it back pull another dress and put it with that dress my maid of honor baffled once we're finished dresses, she takes me into the room and starts to show these dresses. I called simply asking if children were allowed and with a very rude and arrogant demeanor Katyia (not knowing her name at that time) proceeded to say "sure kids are allowed if they are well behaved"... Ma'am. No one asked for anything more than a yes or no and if a child's behavior was of a concern, and if she truly felt the need to say more than what was asked, simply stating that they couldn't be left unattended would have been fine. Thank God this wasn't my first appointment to try on wedding dresses, or else I would have left in tears and feeling absolutely hopeless. This appointment was a complete disaster from start to finish, and it blows my mind that so many people are giving this place high ratings. Did we go to the same store? At first, everything started out great. Our consultant, Natasha, sat us all down, asked who was with me, I showed her pictures of our venue and told her what I wanted and didn't want in a dress. She took dutiful notes (that's important). I told her that the week before, I went somewhere else and absolutely fell in love with a Maggie Sottero dress called Emma, but I wanted to keep my options open, as that had been my first time trying on dresses. We asked if they had Emma here so I could try it on and they could see what I was looking for. This is when things started to fall apart. We had to ask three or four times if they had that dress (they didn't, and that's fine). Now it was my chance to try on some new dresses. Natasha took me back to the racks and told me to start pulling dresses that I liked. Not once did she ever step forward and say, "Hey, you're looking for this style of dress, so here are a few that you might like." She also only showed me dresses in my size, which, looking back, was odd as dresses can be ordered for any size, and it's common for brides to try on dresses that don't fit (too big or too small) so they can see the style. I pulled a few dresses that I thought I liked, and we started trying them on. I wasn't a fan of any of the dresses I tried on, which happens. Every time I came out with a dress, I was VERY specific as to what I liked or didn't like (too much bling, lace is too dense, too sparkly, etc.) so Natasha knew what I was looking for. Not once did I just say, "I don't like it" without providing a detailed explanation as to what was and was not working. I had to ask about three or four times if she could pull some dresses for me. I even said, "Do you have some dresses similar to this style but without *insert what I didn't like here*?" She kept saying, "Yes, yes, of course", but she only pulled one or two dresses. One that she pulled, I really didn't like, I didn't even go out to show my family. I think she was insulted by that, because she came in saying that it was one of her favorites. It did fit the style I was looking for, but it had significantly more beading than any of the other dresses I already tried on and said had too much beading for me and what my venue is like. As if this weren't enough, Natasha started talking down about the boutique I went to the week before; saying things like, "I don't know why they still have Emma in stock, we had that dress in 2009. Nobody carries that dress anymore." As if that boutique was less than because they had a dress that she claims is old. I said, "Oh, well maybe it's like a 2.0 version", and she didn't seem to like my answer. All attempts at small talk were horrible as well. Natasha brought up she was Russian, so I asked where in Russia she was from, and she shut that down by saying, "You've never heard of it." In an attempt to continue the small talk, I said, "Oh okay. My family is from that part of the world too. We're Ukrainian." She immediately snapped, "Ukraine isn't in Russia." Yeah, I know that, but I also know that the two countries have incredibly similar cultures, having been to Ukraine and having a friend from there, not to mention several family members who have been to Russia. Towards the end of the appointment, myself and my family got the impression that Natasha was annoyed with us and the dresses I tried on, not that she was helping and using her knowledge of the stock to find dresses that fit what I was looking for. At one point, my mom saw a dress on a mannequin that was very similar to what we were looking for. Unfortunately, they only had 2 left in stock, and neither were my size. That's fine, but we wanted Natasha to see the style. While I was talking to my mom and Natasha about it, Natasha started walking away, which wouldn't have been a huge problem (although it was rude), except she was holding the train of the dress I was wearing, so I had to walk backwards and continue the conversation with my mom. At that point, she was rushing me through the appointment and just wanted me gone. I had to ask to try on the last dress I had in the changing room. Of all the dresses I tried on, that was the one I liked the most, but it still wasn't "the one", even though my mom seemed to like it more than the Emma dress. Apparently that was enough for Natasha, who previously was annoyed with us, but now saw a potential sale. I said multiple times that I wasn't sold on the dress. It was nice, but I loved Emma so much more, and I said that. I also said that I needed to think about it, but that didn't matter to Natasha, all she saw was a sale. Elena did an amazing job listening to what I wanted for a wedding dress, but also helping me to try different styles to make sure I had tried a variety of dresses before I picked my perfect dress. She spent hours with me and my friends and family until I chose my wedding dress. Elena could read the room and my feelings immediately and could change gears based on what I liked or did not like from each dress I tried. As another reviewer stated "I would expect the service to match the price tag." Unfortunately at Elena's this isn't the case. This was the first place I shopped for my wedding gown, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The consultant did not listen to what I wanted and told me that what I wanted wouldn't be as flattering to my figure. The dresses she pulled were not my style at all, however I did have her pull two dresses that were more in line with what I wanted, I went in with an open mind and was willing to try on some dresses that maybe weren't in line with what I wanted just to give it a chance. I mean you never know until the dress is actually on. The dresses the consultant chose looked horrible on me while the two that she pulled that I chose actually were flattering. I think I tried on about 7 dresses and it took upwards of 2 hours. The consultant would not allow my mother or friend to assist me in the dressing room- so I of course I assumed the consultant would assist me with the dresses. WRONG. I had to take the dresses out of the garment bags, take them off the hanger and step into them by myself. She would then come in and zip/button/clip them. Then to take them off she'd unbutton them and leave me to step out of them, rehang them and move onto the next dress. The dressing rooms were also very small. When the consultant figured out I probably was not going to buy anything she simply disappeared. This was while I still had the last dress on and I had to flag down another salesperson to unclip/unbutton me. My advice would be to skip Elena's. I purchased a beautiful dress from here thanks to my wonderful consultant, Frances. She is so easy to talk to and helpful! She not only kept me laughing, but she taught me how to put on a dress properly and all the way alterations can be made to fit my desire. She also went through the different bustles with me. My eyes bulged out of my head because they had a HUGE selection of dresses. They have two rooms of designer wedding dresses and a room of sale dresses. They also have the best selection of Mother's dresses too. I like that they build in the bras for you and I got to meet with the owners. They were very nice to me. My mom and future mother-in-law were allowed to take as many pictures as they wanted. After finding the dress, we were told any other dresses we purchase from there would be 15% off. They even gave me 3 different bridal magazines. This was such a relaxing experience. I enjoyed myself, thoroughly. I will recommend this place to anyone. I had a great experience! I believe my consultant's name was Teri. She was so nice and listened to exactly what I wanted. She helped me find my wedding dress! The store has a lot of choices and they're organized my designer. The dress garment bags have pictures on them so you know what the dress looks like without having to pull it out of the bag which is great! You know whether you like the dress or not right away. The only thing I didn't like was that they did not list the prices. Initially, I found a gorgeous gown and was ready to buy it until I learned the price was over budget. I'm getting married on 9~19~14 and I got my dress from this boutique. Over all I'm pretty happy with my experience here. As a bride who has worked in bridals for many years and has visited every shop between Annapolis and Baltimore to find the dress it was nice to stumble across this shop hidden in Gambrills. The prices are competitive, I actually found "the dress" at another location (courvasious couture) but Bridals by Elena had it for about $400 less. I wanted a lace, A-line wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline. The selection at Elena's is good, but they did not have exactly what I wanted. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted at Elena's, though. How can this be, you ask? Well. I DID find a Martina Liana dress that was a lace cocktail dress and had a silk, poofy ballgown skirt that fastened to it. Elena had the idea of buying the cocktail dress with a few yards of the matching lace. She custom-made the skirt for me with a beautiful train with covered buttons. It ended up being exactly what I wanted for the same price of the ballgown. The added bonus was that my formal dress became a dancing dress, and I never even had to change or leave the dancefloor. I had a wonderful experience at Elena's from start to finish. I interacted with Katya, Elena, and Frances during my trials and fittings and they were all lovely. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. The main reason I see for visiting Elena's is that prices in the suburbs are lower than in DC. My old roommate also found her wedding dress at Elena's. She waited a bit too long to order, and the dress was sold and discontinued when she finally wanted to pull the trigger. Elena and Katya hunted down a sample of the dress at a Chicago store and altered it for her, so she ended up paying a fraction of what she was prepared to pay. I'd say that is pretty great service. No photos here until you purchase the dress, just like at Hitched in DC and Betsy Robinson's in Reisterstown. It is an unfortunate policy! read more

I couldn't have dreamt of a better experience this past Sunday then the one I had at Bridals By Elena with my girl FRANCES! When I walked in, I could immediately tell they had a great variety of dresses that were also high quality. They also had a lot of dresses on mannequins which was helpful to see their shape instead of on a hanger. I also loved that they had a great seating area for my family, a stage that made me feel like a model AND a camera so that while I was looking in the mirror at the front of my dress I could also see the back on a tv screen (SO COOL!). Frances was the absolute BEST to work with. She got all the dresses ready for my quickly, was masterful and helping me in and out/pinning and unpinning so I could try them all on but also NOT feel rushed. She had my laughing and smiling the whole time and I felt so comfortable throughout the process. I also didn't feel pressured at all to make any choices. When it came down to the final selection it was actually a dress Frances had picked out for me that I chose as my wedding dress and I swear after my experience there I NEED HER AT MY WEDDNG! read more

I am shocked by any review lower than 4 stars for Bridals by Elena. I can only assume they took to heart the reviews and made the necessary changes. This was the third and final bridal shop I visited and I ordered my dress from them. Based on the service I received on that day, I can't imagine any problems going forward. I was helped by Frances and she was amazing! She is very knowledgeable about the dresses, especially on what works for each body type. She can advise on what will make you look your best but in no way keeps you from trying on what you like' she works very hard to make sure you find the dress that makes you feel like the beautiful bride you will be. I was shown 4 rooms of dresses, I believe. (Maybe 3?) Organized by designer, and even the samples that were being sold off the rack because they'd been discontinued. There was something there for every budget. She helped me into the dresses and pinned/laced/clamped me in so that even in the samples that were too large, I would have a decent idea on what the dress would look like on me. I was the first appointment of the day and received 5-Star treatment. I brought along two friends and Frances made sure to know their names and interacted with them during the process, to also share information with them. At previous locations, my friends were not even addressed by the staff, so I appreciated the respect and inclusion they were shown. I stumbled into this store after a hopeless day of prom dress shopping and everyone in the store even the manager helped me find the dress of my dreams. they reassured every fear i had with buying a dress! the dress i wanted was priced at $550 and they brought it down to $320 i couldn't have been happier and they were going to do my alterations for an incredibly low price. Ours was a group of 5 there to try on dresses for the first time. Super organized details about the rooms, dresses and options. The shop is airy and open, but allows for personalized experiences by providing a runway style viewing for each bride. At each runway there is a television that offers the bride and party a view from all sides along with the standard full length mirrors. Frances is candid and has the shapes and details DOWN for the dress styles. Ultimately, she selected the dress that was best liked by our group (and the bride). The dress selection of the shop is wonderful. In comparison to other 3 other local shops, I was impressed by Elena's and one other. As a spectator I learned early that it's SUPER important to make the bride and her party feel as though their opinions matter, that you're an EXPERT in the process and that you can help get them to the happy place. First of, very disappointed in the selection of dresses. I also felt very rushed during my appointment that it was not enjoyable. Ended up just saying yes because my wedding was soon and it seemed like I had no other option. My appointment to pick up got cancelled due to COVID and I tried to get a refund on the veil and sash because I was not going to be able to wear my dress anymore. The owner and receptionist made it my fault for not coming to pick up during the pandemic because other brides did. However, nowhere did they tell me that was an option. Very disappointed in their customer service and lack of sympathy and understanding for brides during this time. Don't go here. My family and friends certainly won't be. read more

Recently bought my wedding dress here and the entire experience was amazing. We left to go to another appointment in Annapolis (Wren Bridal) and it was so awful that we left halfway through to return to Elenas and buy the dress we all loved. Natasha was our consultant and she was very professional and made the entire experience comfortable and fun. When we returned she was gone but Elena assisted for me to try the dress back on to show my father and was also a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended!!! read more

This was the first shop my daughter and I went to to find her a wedding dress. My daughter is a plus size 18 and there was a limited selection which was make clear by Anastasia. She was curt and dismissive to me and my granddaughter. She made my daughter feel ugly and fat. When she brought her a dress to try on she did not even help her step into the dress and pull it up. She informed her to pull it up to her waist and leave the door ajar at which time she would help fasten the top of the dress. Seeing this I went into the dressing room to assist her. When Anastasia came in she dismissed me immediately. When my daughter left she was in tears. The impression given was minimal interest in fitting a plus size woman as well the unwillingness to spend several thousands of dollars. I went in for a consultation appointment with Elena in November 2018. My fiance and I were about ten minutes late. We called ahead and the store was very understanding (thank you!). Elena was very helpful and focused. She allowed me to try on each gown that I wanted, including one or two off of the manikins. I loved the way she pinned the gown to my body for the sake of trying them on; she is very knowledgeable and clearly knows what she is talking about in the area of fabrics and alterations! At the end of my appointment, however, she was unwilling to provide me the information for the dress that I selected (aside from the designer) and held her notes paper close to her chest away from my eyes. This left my fiance and I disappointed because we felt Elena was more concerned with her business than our budget concerns. We were unable to research the dress online, for example, to be sure the price offered to us was fair. We ultimately decided not to go with Elena because of her defensiveness with the gown information. If Elena does offer a reasonable price for her gowns, the dress number should not be a secret. We would have otherwise gone with Elena if she had been more transparent and determined to help us find the best deal on a dress for our special day. The boutique DID call us a few weeks later to follow up, which was appreciated. This call was not bothersome - this follow-up showed that the business is professional and on top of their client information. read more

Bridals by Elena was the first place I visited while wedding dress shopping, as a recommendation from a friend who purchased her dress there a few years ago. Then I went to 2 other local vendors where I wasn't as pleased with the service or selections, so I went back to BBE and purchased my gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress! The alterations were pricy, but that was expected. I had 4 dress fittings, mostly due to my indecision to add a sewn-in bra. At the end of the day, I had an absolutely beautiful dress. Huge thank you to the staff at BBE for helping me with the most important dress of my life. I said yes to my dress today at Bridals by Elena! I worked with Frances and she was very helpful in finding what I liked. The store is very well organized and has a great system for dress shopping. Frances took the time to pin each dress and explain how it would look in my size. The store was so elegant that I was expecting it to be completely out of my price range but to my surprise, I was able to find a bunch under my budget! I went there in January and bought my dress. I love my dress, but the service was a little disappointing. This is supposed to be fun and I felt like I was wasting their time. I was told I needed to purchase it right away so that it would arrive in time. It arrived in April. Ridiculous. And now they are extending my alterations visits and charging at least $100 a time.
