Lex was recommended to us by a friend for having great work & being reasonable in price. Unfortunately, I would say that's not something we necessarily got. We were only really going in for the hem, potential shoulder adjustments, & a simple one point bustle - she charged almost $500. The material was crepe & she said it was really easy to work with. We honestly weren't sure why it was so expensive for something so simple, but we went with it since it was my wedding gown. My experience was okay at first, she was responsive to my messages & we could tell she was experienced when I would go in to try on the dress each time. By the end though, things started to become sloppy & unprofessional. I was told to come for the final fitting & pickup two weeks out from my wedding to try on the dress with the hem & bustle. The bustle was sewed on crooked and with a hook that is very obvious on my dress! The color doesn't even match the ivory? She didn't use a button or ribbon, she used a metal hook. She added beads to try and hide the hook at my mom's request, but it was not centered and did not help at all. On top of that, she forgot to do the hem! And she pretended that she did! I could still see the markings of when she had measured for the hem the last meeting which was a month before. She told me, "that's normal, you just shrunk." She went and re-marked the hem spot at the EXACT same points as the previous appointment. It was clearly not completed, but she did not want to admit it. We had to come in again less than two weeks out for her to actually do the job. And even then I could see the small marks of yellow at the bottom of the dress from her marker. When I asked she said it's normal and that I was the one that was moving. I literally only moved when she told me to, the hem was so long it wouldn't even move if my body moved! Also, not to mention a bunch of random little stains wherever she worked. At one of the appointments, she even pushed my mom's head down as a support when she was standing up! So all in all, the work done at the beginning was decent but towards the end became very sloppy & rushed. I am honestly not very happy with the experience working with her. read more

I need pants taken in same day for an event I had in the evening. I searched for some tailor's in the area and came across Lex's tailoring. I gave her a call and told her what I needed and she told me to come by. She was so nice and was able to accommodate me. Her space was also so clean. She had my pants and a shirt I also had her do done in about an hour. Definitely will be going back! read more

Highly recommend Lex Tailoring and Alterations! She fit me in weeks before my wedding after several other places turned me down due to my dress being to intricate in detail and layers. Can not boast enough about how beautiful their work was on my dress. I was absolutely stunned at the incredibly poor customer service I received at this place. I needed a Mori Lee bridesmaid dress for my best friends wedding and I called in advance to double check that Lex Bridal had the correct design in store. To be completely honest, the lady yelled at me. She said "I don't know, come look for yourself!". Confused and almost hoping she was kidding, I explained to her that I needed to order a specific model but wanted to double check that she had the correct one for me to try. She then told me that I needed to come in and look for myself. Desperate at this point, I asked her if she could help me identify the Mori Lee 267 dress if I drove to the store...she responded, "No. I don't know what it looks like." Seriously??? I was so shocked at the treatment I received from this place. She ended the conversation rumbling about "demanding people on the phone" and hung up on me. In summary, steer clear of this place. If they are this unprofessional and flat out rude to customers then I can't imagine that they provide a quality service or product. read more

After reading the other 2 reviews on here, we weren't sure what to expect--but we took a chance and we are so glad that we did! Lex is a real sweetheart. She pours so much energy into helping you find just the right dress and making sure the alterations are perfect--it can only be described as a motherly love for her passion and her customers. After visiting no less than 6 other bridal stores and boutiques, here is my impression of Lex Bridal: - Cute boutique with great prices--not a stuffy atmosphere like others. Very low key and comfortable. No pressure sales. - Has a great variety of dress styles. Even though they carry the latest trends, they also have a variety of different designs. They are not all cookie cutter similar. - Carries the top brands, but is more concerned about how the dress compliments your features than what brand it is. - Personal care that cannot be found at other stores. She really cares about making you happy. Because she cares so much she will offer her honest opinion. Sometimes you need that in this process. :) - Great sense of humor. Lex is very funny and jokes around a lot. It helps to make the atmosphere lighter and more enjoyable. The key to any endeavor such as this is to be patient--it is high stress and highly opinionated. Be patient and open-minded, visit Lex and you will have a great experience and find just what you were seeking. read more

Poor service. The sales lady was not very welcoming. When my friend was describing the style she had in mind, the associate kept saying she didn't have anything like it. And kept saying she doesn't carry her size. She would not let her talk, and was not really open to making suggestions. We were the only ones there, but it seemed like she was trying to rush us out. I can't believe I waited this long to post a review of Lex's Bridal. Long as in I got married in 2005?! I was working nearby at the time, and could easily hop on over to the store, which is a lovely conversion of a bungalow off of Defense Hwy near Annapolis Mall. Lex had such a selection of brands of wedding and attendant/formal gowns, many of her own design. She was trained as a seamstress in Paris, and has a factory in Thailand where she gets her silks for her own designs. So, after not finding the perfect dress for me, we decided that she would custom make one, using only a front-and-back photo from a bridal magazine. Simple, but elegant design, very subtle blockwork and beading. And in a beautiful thick champagne silk. It was GORGEOUS, and probably cost less than many ot the rack gowns I had seen at Saks, Nordstroms and large bridal stores (had to go all the way to Tyson's Corner, long drive). The dress was strapless. A few weeks before the event, I got all paranoid about my arms and elbows, so I found some champagne lace with scattered sequins and showed it to Lex. Instead of blessing me out, she made THE MOST BEAUTIFUL bolero with 3/4 sleeves that went with the dress as if it was designed for it. (Which it was, actually). AND, one my two bridesmaids, my pre-teen step, needed a custom-made dress as she was too tall for juniors and too small for women's sizing. We ordered the fabric from a bridal book at another place, same fabric as the off-the-rack dress her sister had, and Lex made a perfectly fitting dress with a slightly different design but the same simplicity as her sister's. The dress even had at least 25 fabric-covered buttons up the back (not easy to get right). AND, with the leftover fabric, she made simple shawls for BOTH girls, as both dresses were sleeveless and it was early May and an outdoor wedding. Wow. So, everything was beautiful, the dress survived and outdoor walk down a steep, grassy hill and dancing through the night! Happy, happy bride/customer!! Lex was patient, a problem-solver, and knew what the hell she was doing. She sure made my bridal prep worry-free. I cannot recommend her more highly, read more

I didnt buy a dress from Lex but that's not to say I wouldn't. Don't be fooled by the salon being in a home. The inside is beautiful with a large selection of gowns. She even has gowns in sizes 12 and up, Which is rare for any bridal shop that isn't David's. Lex was friendly and eager to help but had a no pressure style. I liked one gown a lot and told her I would be back with the family and she had no problem with that. read more

This was by far the worst bridal place I have ever been too. I have never been treated so badly by any stranger before. Lex was awful, nasty, and rude. She takes the tags off of dresses to try to pass them as her own. She and this place were despicable. I'd rather wear jeans to my wedding than deal with this place again. read more

I hope if you are contemplating going here you read this review. Lex has mixed reviews because she can sometimes be difficult to understand. She may seem that she isn't helpful at times but it is just because you have to be patient and I think there can be some intentions that are lost in translation which is why she can come across as rude but she is really the sweetest lady. Her store has the MOST AMAZING dresses and she is THE BEST tailor around. If you want to customize an existing dress and add a few things here or there she is the gal to do it! I agree I had some customer service issues myself but you just have to shoot straight with her. My sister lives in Maryland and got a dress from her for her wedding and I live in New Jersey but went to get a dress from her shop because she is simply the best! After a few hiccups over the phone she even came in on a Sunday when she is normally closed to service me. So basically, be patient, understanding and shoot straight and you will get the most amazing dress ever. read more

Not impressed...The owner was very rude. There was a dress that I wanted to try on and she refused to let me do so because she did not think it was for me. Well, I should be able to make that decision. Right??? Placing my personal feelings aside. I feel the gowns are overpriced compared with the quality and services that other bridal shops provide. I would give them zero stars if that was possible! I called to inquire about a specific dress and with a real nasty attitude the woman told me she could not tell me over the phone if she had it that I would have to come in and look through the dresses. I then tried to explain that I live a distance away and am only looking for one particular dress. She then screamed at me and hung up the phone. Astonished I called back. She answered and began screaming at me again, "why did you call me back, I am the owner and I can do what I want" and the proceeded to hang up again. My fiancé was angered at how I was treated and tried to call himself, and was again hung up on. The owner is just a nasty lady and I would not do business with her! read more

I had a terrible experience. Not only was the dress 2 1/2 months late, when I went to pick it up and asked to get my $35 shipping fee back, the lady who ran the shop went crazy. She was yelling at me in front of other customers and really embarrassed herself. I never even raised my voice once during the 2+ months of waiting for the dress, or even when I was getting screamed. Even though others had warned me about her, I decided to give it a shot. Now the wedding's here and I don't have to get alterations. Horrible business experience and worst customer service I've ever experienced in my whole life. Save yourself and go somewhere else. read more
