First of all, the stylist we worked with was SO nice, fun, and helpful. She was five stars all the way. I loved the dresses she tried - all of them were gorgeous. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 and not 5/5 is because the building itself has seen better days and in comparison to some other bridal boutiques it just didn't have as much elegance (though was still very nice!) also it felt less intimate since there were probably 3-4 other fittings going on and you had to walk through at least one of them to get to our fitting room, which felt a bit awkward. Overall would I recommend? Absolutely! Is it the *best* experience in town, maybe not, but it's a close second.

No, she was there for 10m because we had to repeatedly ask for her. Also, the things Molly said that could be fixed in alterations cannot not be, making the dress look completely different then we thought. As the maid of honor seeing the bride in tears frustrates me to no end. The amount of money paid for this dress, everything should be perfection. Do not trust their word.

Altar Bridal Review…read more I had the absolute pleasure of shopping at Altar Bridal for my very first wedding dress shopping experience. Nancy was a kind, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgable consultant who made me feel so comfortable and beautiful! She listened to what I wanted and made sure to show me plenty of dresses that fit that vision, but she also showed me some gorgeous dresses that were outside of my comfort zone. She explained all of her choices, why she picked them and how she thought they fit my vision or would make me feel and walked me through the details on each one. I knew I wanted to try a little of everything since I had never tried any sort of gowns on before and she delivered! I was able to see myself in a variety of silhouettes and styles, which really helped me narrow it down to the dress of my dreams. It's also worth noting that she was extremely respectful of my budget, which is something I was nervous about with dress shopping in general. I left the appointment feeling confident, beautiful, and so happy. I felt like Nancy was committed to finding me the dress of my dreams, regardless of where I ended up finding it. She was genuinely happy to hear about my second appointment at a different store and told me I'd have a great time. She also let me know that if I ended up wanting to move forward with a dress that I'd tried at Altar, all I would need to do is call and let them know. I never once felt pressured to buy anything from there, which was something I was also worried about with dress shopping in general. Ultimately, my second experience paled in comparison to the one at Altar. At the end of both appointments I knew that a dress I had picked out at Altar was the one for me (coincidentally, it was the very first dress Nancy had me try on, which I think speaks to how well she understood what I was dreaming of!). I called and talked to Sarah, who was also extremely kind and helpful, and told me the dress was mine! Overall, I would definitely recommend Altar Bridal for a wonderful, personal dress shopping experience! Thank you so much to Nancy and Sarah for making it so special!

I went with my sister to try on wedding dresses here in the spring and I have to say I wasn't sure…read morewhat I was walking into as back when I got married I essentially picked out a dress at top shop and called it a day. All of that aside, we had coffees in hand when we walked in for our early morning appointment and out of all the places we went to that weekend I think this one was tied for best overall experience. The first thing I loved, aside from the chic urban setting, was that each bride had her own dressing area that felt very private and despite other women using other areas of the shop our area felt very much ours, and we never even saw another bride which made the pacing relaxed. How the fittings work here is they take the bride to be to the back to pick out styles and learn a bit more about what she's looking for and then they come back and pull back a large curtain so the bride has privacy while dressing, they then reveal and you get a chance to talk through each look. The room was just as pretty as the dresses, it was comfortable, and we had a fun time. You should note that if you come with a drink like we did you will have to table them outside the room, which honestly made sense since we're dealing with some expensive gowns. Overall this wasn't the shop that my sister ended up picking a dress from but everyone was so kind, the dresses absolutely gorgeous and the ambiance so cool, this is a great shop and I'd recommend to anyone I know looking to buy a wedding dress.

Where to begin... I reached out to Bride because they are the only shop in the Kansas City area…read morethat has the dress that I want for my wedding. I reached out to them and told them the truth, that I had already purchased the dress in California (where I'm getting married) but wanted to be able to have some other members of my family in KC be able to see the dress, so I was hoping to do an accessory appointment / veil shopping at Bride. My mom has already booked a flight from CA to KC for a Friday to Sunday trip (which I told them), and asked if I would be able to get a Saturday morning appointment. They proceeded to tell me that they only do accessory appointments on Tuesday-Thursdays. Odd, but I was hoping with an explanation of my situation, they might be willing to make an exception - they did not. They said that Saturday mornings are reserved strictly for first time bridal appointments, and there was nothing they could do about my scheduling issues, since they only have 2 stylists and not a lot of availability. Mind you, if I had told them that I had not bought the dress already and snagged that first time bridal appointment, and pretended I would be buying it from them, there would not be an issue, but I always like to be honest with people - and they don't care! They said there is absolutely nothing they can do, it is their policy. Mind you, veils are not cheap!!! It's not like I was asking for 3 hours of their time to go in and buy a $50 bracelet... I wanted an hour to be able to try on the dress and some different accessories and veils, and I was more than willing to give them my business, because shop small right! NO. They said for accessory appointments they can only book me on a Tuesday-Thursday and I only get 30 minutes... 30 minutes is all you can give me when I'm about to spend $$$$ on accessories for the dress? AND they're only open until 6... So you're telling me I need to come straight from work (30 minutes away) where I already feel gross and not in the mood to be happy and excited and I better make a decision in 30 minutes? I understand that there are rules, and that they can run their business however they want, but I was so disenchanted with the whole thing and their utter lack of leniency that even though they're the only store that has the dress in KC, I will not be giving them my business. They were not overtly rude to me, but my favorite thing about shopping local, and shopping small is that they usually are able to bend the rules and help you out since they are the ones in charge. Apparently, Bride does not feel this way. So word to the wise - only ever tell them you are doing a first time bridal appointment if you want them to actually help you and treat you well.

Raegan and the team here went above and beyond BEFORE my appointment so that by the time I walked in, she'd not only viewed my Pinterest board / inspo pics AND called me to talk through all the details of my vision over the phone, but also had *all* my dresses pre-selected, waiting for me by my dressing room by the time I arrived. This meant that there was no wasted time -- which was something I experienced at quite a few other places. Other places didn't call ahead or do their research, so I was left spending half of my appointment explaining what I wanted and watching them run around to look for new dresses and drop off old ones. When places do this, it doesn't make you feel special or considered -- for an event that is arguably one of the most important times to feel special and considered in one's life. And where you're about to drop a LOT OF MONEY!!! But Fabulous Frocks? They made me feel special and considered. In addition, Raegan made me feel so at home from the jump, chatting up my whole crew and I, laughing about silly things, helping me get into and out of each dress while also stepping out and giving me my privacy whenever I was fully unclothed, and made accommodations for my bridal party to come by before we said the final "yes" to the dress. We drank pink champagne, popped a confetti cannon, and...I cried. Can't recommend this business enough.

If all that wasn't enough, she never disclosed how much my rental tux would be and as I was picking it up, I was blindsided by it being $230. I ended up choosing not to rent it because money is tight with our wedding coming up and she ended up haggling with me about what she would refund me, making me pay 40% of the rental even though I didn't use it at all. They're open late on Thursdays so I could go after work and I was the only one in the store. Things that were weird: They keep all the dresses in a back room--you can't go in and see them yourself. Yes I know that many bridal shops do this, but at Laura's they bring out your dresses one at a time, so that in between dresses you're sitting there in your dressing room mostly naked just... um, waiting around. I got bored of this pretty quickly. Also weird: they didn't even SHOW me the dresses that they brought out for me (like, "have a look at this next one, would you like to try it on?") They just whisked them straight off the hanger and bunched 'em up for me to step into. Weird. There were definitely some that I would have looked at and said, let's not waste our time with that. And finally: Laura had been helping me for about half an hour when she suddenly passed me off to another salesgirl with no explanation... All of a sudden I was being helped by a person who didn't know what I was looking for. She had to ask all the same questions I'd spent 10 minutes discussing with Laura at the start of my appointment. Waste of time! Overall: the dresses were lovely but the policies bizarre, and the service unimpressive.

My dress [by Madi Lane] came in 2 1/2 months earlier than Something White told me to expect. And…read morethat was great - until it wasn't. After their notification email, I scheduled my appointment to pick up my dress (for which I had already paid the entire balance) within the 30-day window specified by their contract. That was difficult enough for me because of the demands placed on my schedule by my mom's cancer treatment. But I know it was in the contract, and I was able to book one of the *three* appointments per week that are available outside of traditional M-F 9-5 businesses hours. I promise, I am a rule follower and a people-pleaser (I also tipped my bridal consultant $300 because their card machine prompted me to do so - I don't want conflict)! Then another family member passed away after a stroke, and the funeral was scheduled for the day of my appointment (though it was quite far in advance by normal funeral standards). I informed SWBB two weeks in advance and rescheduled my appointment for the next Saturday appointment available, which was 9 days outside of the 30-day window. Again, I assure you that I understand the text of the policy. However, the primary reason that I bought my dress from SWBB, rather than another area store that carried the same dress, was because I liked that it was locally-owned and I thought it would be an authentic, relationship-based sale. When I picked up my dress, I explained my situation to the manager, because I was hoping we might be able to compromise and maybe they would be willing to charge me $150 or something, not the entire $300. I also felt compelled to do this because twice, the shop had contacted me and requested if I could come in earlier in the day to accommodate their schedule better (I agreed the first time, because I could.) It just kind of rubbed me the wrong way that they were so willing to ask me to reschedule but so intolerant of my genuine need to reschedule. After I explained my situation (calmly and rather quietly, because I was so nervous), the manager (who happened to have been the consultant whom I had tipped $300) responded "We have to enforce these policies the same for everyone so we aren't put in the situation where we have to decide whose excuse matters." She then cancelled the additional $200 veil order I had just made because "we cannot trust that you won't misunderstand our policies and get your own feelings hurt again". I had been really nervous to say anything but my fiancé had coached me about how to bring it up and to remain calm and respectful. If it were just me, I probably would have sucked it up because I didn't want to make a fuss and also ruin the feelings of what was a really exciting day! However, now I am sharing this to hopefully prevent others from finding themselves in this position. RESPONSE TO OWNER'S RESPONSE: You're right to clear up that lack of clarity about the time frame - I said what I did because when I ordered my dress, I was told 7 months, and then it only took 4 1/2. But you're right about the 15 days early thing, since that's what the official email said. Yet you went ahead and charged me $300 for having to reschedule for 9 extra days out, even though I did so two weeks in advance. Because of a funeral, and because of my mom's cancer. I agree that your response is "the facts" - we don't really disagree on anything that happened (including the rude language used by your manager), we just interpret it differently. It's kind of weird that you're trying to use the fact that I originally liked my experience as a "gotcha" or something. It just made me feel even more betrayed when I saw your true colors. Sure, you did everything *technically* right, but you simply lack any sort of heart, which I believe should be considered when selecting wedding vendors. On a purely human level, I just think future brides would be better off elsewhere. P.S. I would prefer you did not "think of" my mom. I can't even tell her what happened because it would upset her so much that a place where we shared a special memory turned out to be soulless.

This is my second wedding, and that context matters. During my first wedding, dress shopping at large bridal stores was stressful, overwhelming, and impersonal. I felt rushed and unseen. I chose High Vibe Bride because it seemed different--and it absolutely was, in the best possible ways. High Vibe Bride is a small, intimate salon that works with individual clients only, which creates an incredibly calm and personalized experience. Before my appointment, Janay scheduled a phone call to learn about my vision, preferences, body, comfort needs, and my multi-day destination elopement. She asked thoughtful questions, provided extensive information, and explained timelines and options clearly. By the time I arrived, she had already pulled dresses that aligned exactly with what I wanted. I immediately felt seen, heard, and cared for. As a plus-size bride, I was blown away by the selection. There were so many plus-size dresses in a wide variety of styles--not just one look or silhouette. Every dress I tried on was beautiful and thoughtfully chosen. Janay was extremely communicative throughout the appointment, answering all of my questions thoroughly and offering helpful details about how each dress would move and feel. She absolutely nailed it based on our phone conversation--I ended up buying the very first dress I tried on, something I never expected. Even better, although I went in planning to buy one dress, I left with two. They were completely different, perfect for different parts of my elopement, and affordable because the pricing was far more reasonable than anywhere else in town. I had very specific needs--plus-size, long sleeves, and nothing restrictive--and yet the selection was incredible. I never felt limited or like I had to compromise. Janay affirmed me throughout the entire experience and made me feel confident, beautiful, and honestly like a princess. The alteration process was equally amazing. Janay's background in making wedding dresses truly sets her apart. For my adventure elopement, mobility was essential--my photographer even encouraged me to make sure I could do jumping jacks in my dress. Janay offered creative, expert solutions that allowed me to move freely while maintaining the integrity and beauty of the gown. On a personal level, Janay went above and beyond to accommodate my severe dog allergies, thoroughly vacuuming the studio, putting down extra coverings, and checking in with me multiple times to ensure I was comfortable. She was also incredibly thoughtful when my mom couldn't attend due to injury--helping FaceTime her, sending photos, and making sure she felt included. High Vibe Bride is not just a bridal salon--it is a place where brides are truly listened to, affirmed, and supported. Janay has created something special, and I am deeply grateful. I cannot recommend High Vibe Bride highly enough.

You can feel the kindness and love reflected in her entire space. It could not have been a more personalized experience. She closes the shop for each bride for 2 hours to try on dresses! She is so attentive, and she obviously listened to me very closely on our initial phone call last week, because that first dress ended up being the absolute perfect one for me. The two hours that we spent there last night are now a happy memory from this very fun adventure of getting married. 3 of my dearest friends came with me to offer love and encouragement... So. Much. Fun. But wait... It gets even better. A major reason that I chose this shop is because Janay plants 5 trees for every gown she sells, via the TreeSisters organization. Every gown in this shop is under $2K but I would have paid double for this dress. It is STUNNING, and so were all the others I tried on. True variety, what a fun collection! Janay... Thank you.
