When I went in for my appointment Julie (the owner) was there to greet me and it was just the two of us in the store. I literally got one-on-one attention I got was unmatched. I shopped during their sample sale and got 25% off my dress! If all this wasn't amazing enough, she had a tv hooked up to her laptop just so brides can video chat with their families that may be out of state! As a last effort to keeping my business local, I made an appointment with White Willow. When I arrived, I was greeted by the store owner Kelli and she asked what type I was looking for and showed me the dresses. She made suggestions and let me and my group pick them out. The store was beautiful inside, with a very upscale feel. I was feeling unsure because of the sizing on the dresses I had already tried. I had already been to other stores where none of the dresses would zip or come close to zipping and was forced to come out with a completely open back and show people and look in the mirror and "pretend" that it would be perfect in another size. I was pleased to see that at White Willow the dress sizes started at 12 and went up, and had different styles mixed on the rack. You didn't have to go to a certain "section" based on your size. After trying on the 1st dress with Kelli, I knew this place was amazing. She made me feel so comfortable and I was soon able to relax and enjoy trying on dresses. And the dresses! Are gorgeous, quality gowns that are quite true to size. I am a size 14-16 and I was able to zip or almost zip all dresses that I tried on near that size range. And the ones that wouldn't quite zip, Kelli pulled together and made them feel like they fit. Out of 6 dresses I found my perfect one, and actually bought it off the rack that night because for once, it fit! Kelli was very professional, both in her appearance and knowledge for wedding dresses. She took her time to make sure I found what I wanted and needed. Appointments at White Willow are also private, so you have the undivided attention you deserve as a bride. AND After I said yes to my dress, we celebrated with complimentary wine! The outside of the building doesn't look like much, but don't let the appearance fool you. There's a huge selection inside, with lots of different styles. Highly recommended!

I received a sealed envelope at a bridal show from Mahin's saying if I scheduled an appointment and…read moreselected my dress from there I could receive a "prize" up to a certain amount. I scheduled my appointment which they were nice about - they have good store hours. I explained what I wanted and my price range. They didn't have the type of dress I was looking for - tea length, strapless, corset back - but I picked out some dresses from the stuffy old rooms to try on. After trying them on Mahin said "I have just the dress for you." She brought in a dress that was very pretty, and a little more than DOUBLE my price range. I tried it on anyways, which I shouldn't have. It was an amazing dress and we sucked it up and bought it. My "prize" was a veil up to $200. I explained I didn't want a veil but rather a birdcage, which they have, and she said the "prize" didn't cover that I would have to get a veil or nothing. They added that if my bridesmaids bought their dresses from them they would receive a discount so we scheduled an appointment. When we came for that appointment she seemed annoyed by us, maybe she was having a bad day. I had one girl who was too little for the dress we ended up choosing so they gave us a book to look through for junior brides and flower girls. We didn't find anything we liked and said we'd look elsewhere for that last dress. Fast forward several weeks and I receive a call saying my dress was in. She said she noticed that I had 5 bridesmaids but that we had only ordered 4 dresses and she hadn't ordered them yet because she was waiting on the 5th one to decide on a dress. I explained that we had decided the day we were there not to order the 5th dress from her and she was quite rude saying that I never told her that and now the dresses may not arrive on time. I asked her to order the dresses and she did. When I came to try my dress on I immediately noticed an awful smell when entering the fitting room. It smelled like fish, bad! When putting the dress over my head it was clear the smell was coming from the dress. I was too excited to see the dress I didn't mention it. Then the dress didn't fit - it was too small. Mahin didn't seem to think anything of it and said when they had it altered they would move the modesty panel and it would be fine. While standing in what seemed to be a room with the temperature set to 120 degrees having her pin my hem she was again quite rude. She actually got quite loud with me when she insisted that I had moved and she would have to redo part of the pinning. My mother had to stand with me holding my arms so I didn't pass out due to the temperature so if I moved, I didn't mean to. $500+ later after alterations to hem it a few inches and put in the bustle I came back to try the dress on again. The fishy stench remained, the bustle clips were horrible, the hem was still too long, and it STILL DIDN'T FIT! Again, she didn't think anything of it and said that if I wear a girdle that should take care of it. I finally mentioned the smell, after everyone I had there with me said "yes, it's awful" and she didn't notice it. She said "maybe after we steam it it'll be better." The girls dresses came in and we decided NOT to use her alteration services so we just picked them up and left. The dresses were as expected and were all a little big, but that's better than small. I decided to pick my dress up several weeks before the wedding to see if we could do something about the smell. I "googled" it and apparently dresses that are shipped from over seas are sprayed with pesticides so that could have been the reason. We left it hang out and it got better, but never totally went away. I took my dress with to a different seamstress when the girls had their alterations done to ask for a different modesty panel to help my dress fit better and the wonderful woman explained that my dress was not anywhere near the right size. So, another $300+ later she put in panels on the side of the dress to get it to fit the best it could. This was all AFTER I had lost 15 lbs since I had been fitted in the first place. In the end, my $600 dress budget ended up costing me over $2000 and I smelled like fish on my wedding day.

I came into the appointment still very much open to finding a dress after already having one great appointment prior to coming here. The saleswoman I was placed with was very cold and made the comment "You probably won't find your dress here" after showing her pics of what I liked within 5 minutes of being there. Throughout the appointment she was putting a big emphasis on certain things that may or may not fit me (I am considered "plus size" in many places) with a negative tone. She also made the comment that the dress I had tried on was about 10 sizes too small for me. I felt very judged and had to hold back tears at one point. I know what I look like, but I felt very defeated leaving the appointment. Their sizes on the floor did not feel as inclusive as I have seen most other places. Overall pretty disappointed I drove an hour to feel judged and the opposite of how a bride should feel when trying on dresses, no matter their size/shape.

I decided to skip David's Bridal altogether…read moredue to so many negative reviews, and instead made an appointment with my Mom at Moments to Cherish. I am -so- glad I did. I was so surprised by how quaint and relaxing this salon was. No hurrying or craziness going on, my Mom and I were the only ones there for our early morning appointment. My awesome consultant let my Mom and I actually browse the dresses on our own, which was really nice and a lot of fun. Not only that, but we were also allowed to take photos of the dresses I tried on, which a lot of salons do not permit. They also had a really decent selection of dresses. In the end, even though this was my first appointment, I fell in love with the third dress I tried on and bought it on the spot. I am so excited for my wedding. :) We will be coming back here to pick out my Mom's dress for sure! I am a size 12 and had no problem trying on the sample dresses. In fact, several of their samples are sizes 12 to 16, which is -really- nice. They simply clamp up the dress if it's too big on you so you can see how it will look on you. I had heard beforehand that sample dresses run small, and was worried nothing would fit me. Not so here! UPDATE: They offered to let me buy the sample dress I tried on since it fit me so well, and in return I got a discount on the alterations! Best service ever! Overall I spent less than $1,000 for a gorgeous dress.
